What causes fluorescence in a diamond? And does fluorescence affect the appearance of the stone? Why don't you explain that some fluorescence in a colorless stone is a bad thing, where as fluorescence in a stone will some color is a good thing as it improves the look of the stone especially in natural / sunlight?

Mainly because it isn't generally true - it is a sales pitch used by people selling diamonds with low colour and high fluorescence which would otherwise be very difficult to sell.

"Good" or "bad" are quite hard to determine for certain when it comes to diamonds. Strong or even very strong fluorescence in and of itself doesn't make a stone objectively "bad" however there is a risk that in some diamonds (i.e. less than 0.2% of the 25-35% of diamonds which exhibit fluorescence) there can be a negative visual affect which is an oily appearance. So it's rare, but not impossible & the diamond will need to be assessed on its own merit. So I'm afraid the answer is; "It depends!"
