We welcome your comments on the open blog thread for this show.
► freethoughtblogs.com/axp/
KZread comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we've tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of KZread comment sections, in our experience.
We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are "officially" associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don't actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

troy lenz Atheism doesn’t really answer anything. He had lots of word plays but I walked away feeling a sense of ignorance from atheism towards what religious text say. It’s really sad that atheist place judgement on Christianity without even a proper understanding of the text. Or even acknowledging the importance of truth. What moral law objectifies a atheist to tell the truth? Tbh we all love and experience the supernatural expression of meaning. go love your family, love your friends. I can’t tell you to live a good life because I don’t think for the atheism, materialism and naturalism will give you hope for the future or to say stop evil. Life is pointless, existence is an accident. Love is fiction. Makes sense why individuals commit suicide, no has a meaning for life. Violence has become the only absolute in our sector world. Christianity is your only hope for peace and good in this universe. Without it they is nothing. Islam will kill you, atheism will depress you, paganism will fool you, Judaism has denied you, Buddhism has disconnected form you, Hinduism is paganism and the new age is paganism. Your life is pointless, your love is pointless, Justice is made up, no absolutes means no science. Good thing is most would disagree with my are absolutes statements, your life isn’t pointless but only Christianity justifies morality, creation, provides evidence for the claims, is supernatural, gives you peace and will change the world for the better. Plus on top of that you get to be part of a long story of how God has completely transformed the lives of billions today, the past and the days to come. I believe we will all meet our creator. God will honor the choices you make in this life. We are souls with bodies, not bodies with souls. They persecute Christians in the Middle East because of fear Jesus will fix and bring justice, the persecute us in the West because God has morality and they will soon persecute us for loving God and loving our neighbors. Morality in secular morality without God is simply a popularity vote, slavery was legal, so don’t expect your government to listen to you like they always do. Pure morality without God is powerless to individuals who see violence as an absolute. As islam begins to invade our society, with no Christianity to defend it, society will have no rights to overcome. Good thing I believe God has given all Christians the responsibility to be the light of this world, Jesús Christ leading all of humanity towards righteousness and truth. Truly the only light of this world is Jesus, if that’s not the case you were born very unlucky to be born in such a disturbingly violent word. Until atheism disproves the origin of the universe and objective morality it’s going to be a faith of the heartless and people that rebel against the idea of universal justice. The Gospel is about having faith in Jesus Christ, so you don’t have to suffer what is being brought and caused by those that rebel against the good and holy God. No place in heaven or Earth will escape God’s judgement when he destroys all the evil doers. As Christians I can only lead you towards the truth but if you choose to live in rebellion against the alternative love God has given you God will give you what your heart desires. So they is peace, have faith in Jesus so the supernatural spiritual born will take place in your heart. I love you. I wish you the best in this dying world. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. 20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God." (‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16-21‬ ESV)

@@MrLILv104 can't answer everything you said in your essay but I think you have 1 thing wrong. You seem intelligent but when you say until atheist prove. Need to stop you there. Atheist don't need to prove anything. Atheist are not making a claim and I can't speak for everyone but I think religion does a lot of good for most people. But you make it sound like atheist is faith based. As if I have faith that God does not exist. It is not this. It's that I don't believe you when you tell me he/she does. Your the person who has faith he does. I don't have faith in supernatural. Not without proof. I'm not saying your wrong I'm just saying I don't think your right. If you could prove it to me I would love that because it would answer a lot about life. But it's ok to say I don't know. I don't know why we are here. I don't know why family members die and get cancer. I still love just like you do. Bible and gospel may be proof to you but for me I don't choose to believe it. I could write a book claiming I am god and in a thousand years time somebody can't read my book and say it is proof that I was. Before you make assumptions I was a Christian most my life. Even use to be a altur boy when I was small. I have read the Bible and studied and did exams on religion in school. And now I'm glad to be free of the fear that if I did I might not go to heaven. I use to question god and be afraid of hell. Now I just want to live a happy loving life without god because I think it's all bullshit. If I'm wrong sure he will forgive me. Or he will burn me in hell whatever doesn't bother me because I don't believe it

Firstly, why the maker of the Holy Quran put the challenge of creating 1 chapter like that in the Quran which has 114 chapters? Also, why there is no one from more than 1400 years ago who could do the challenge? Secondly, why there are more than 40 scientific miracles In the Quran? how can who made the Holy Quran tell us about scientific facts in different fields like the expansion and the origin of the universe? Thirdly, why we are created in the most beautiful shape? Fourthly, why there are about 5000 people convert to Islam every year in Britain only? they have brains like us. Make sure that your explanation contains the answer to the four questions. Ask your creator for guidance. he is the merciful and gracious than you ever thought 🥺.

The vast majority of classical scholars would disagree with you. For one intro, I suggest Dr. Craig Evans' 'Fabricating Jesus - How Modern Scholars Distort the Gospels.' This is a refutation of Dr. Bart Ehrman's contention that the NT can't be trusted, for the reasons you mention. Also, read Ehrman's 'When Jesus Became God' his theory that Jesus was made deity by his followers much later and then read Evans' 'When God Became Jesus' theorizing an early Christology, from weeks from Jesus' resurrection. Dr. Richard Bauckham is one of the leading lights in early Christology, also. You can also research Dr. James A. Bloom, physicist on the prophecy of Tyre, which overviews the accuracy of prophecies. One would not say to a Russian speaker (when one didn't know Russian) that he was speaking nonsense. Neither can one use the same methodology in critiquing the Bible. From a scholar's standpoint you have to learn exegesis, for one thing. Otherwise, you''re just shooting from the hip. The vast majority of scholars, again, have long refuted the skeptical charges against the Bible, yet they appear again and again in each generation that hasn't learned history. And, yet, two of the Gospels are direct eye witness accounts. All four have passed all acid tests, far above any other works. Little wonder that Shakespeare's last will and testament: "My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ." Also, the letters of Paul were written even before the Gospels. In 2 Cor. 15, for example, a creed in use in Christian circles from 2 to 5 years of Jesus' resurrection: Jesus died, rose on the third day, seen by 500, etc. Btw, see Sir Lionel Luckhoo on Jesus' resurrection, or Dr. Gary Habermas. But unless one is sincere enough to actually study the subject, then these brief comments won't be of much help. Just research that the greatest minds in history have been mostly Christians, science, art, music, literature, law, etc. Even Napoleon, hardly a Christian, said (with two witnesses including his closest friend), "Jesus was no mere man. He is above all who have ever lived." (paraphrasing).

I absolutely LOVE Ashley and Martin's tactic here, and I feel that modern hosts of nowadays like in AXP, Talk Heathen and other popular atheist debaters lack it. This tactic of backing the person into a corner when the person tries to dishonstly dodge and deflect and move to a different point and directly trying to force the person to answer the question or address something that went unaddressed. This is the only right way to combat dishonest debate from theists and apologists.

You cannot be neutral coherently, about "first principles" regarding the necessary preconditions of human existence. Especially the very first principle of God. The expression of neutrality regarding the preconditions of rationality itself, is absurd upon examination, then of course, we find that the propositional content which constitutes the negation of the principles is even more ridiculous.

Many comic about SpiderMan exists, in 1000 years after World War III or something, we'll have people dig up and finally conclude SpiderMan did exist and was a SuperHeroes since many editions only differ a little on so many countries all around the world and New York city is in ruin. So with this guy logic, SpiderMan and every superheroes must exist just like comic show or LIght Novel. Maybe we should name a city Metropolis and Gotham to show future religious people that Superman and Batman also exist.

That is easiest to prove there since China's history goes back to 5000 years. Since New York City is ruined, but there are plenty of evident it exists and fit almost perfectly to the comic, does that mean Peter Parker aka Spider Man exist?

There's a point unaddressed in the "CIA stealing plans for terror attack" scenario. The point of your action is not merely to get the plans, it's to *deprive the enemy* of the plans. Trey's idea of making a copy goes only half way, & leaves the potential victims still hugely at risk. Doing the *other* half measure he might have mooted (destroying the plans) is equally silly: there might be multiple copies, and we still don't know who, how or where. Further point: Trey seems to say you, the CIA spook, should rate your own post-mortem bliss higher than the victims' lives. Is *that* moral?

If we can never obey the commandments themselves, then why have any and what would be wrong with everyone having their own morality anyway?

Belief is a matter of faith, though. We know they can't provide any (real) evidence, so there's nothing to believe. At least in that context.

So basically, atheists have no morals because they don't believe that one specific god's alleged rules are accurate. But christians are moral because they are allowed to break all of those rules, since they are already forgiven for it. Got it. Makes perfect sense now.

@@dmclegg66 i literally said there are no sins - because there is no god. I didnt say sin is bad moral stuff. I am clarifying good and bad. Yes, I am clarifying because some religious have no distinction between sin and morality because God dictates for them.
