Just noticed that all the watches mentioned have following traits in common: 1. "horological pedigree", both in terms of a watch itself and a manufacturer 2. The looks. For anyone who knows watches, you can tell from miles away that he has a hulk, a daytona, or a royal oak on the wrist. Likewise, they all have unique look that will not only look sexy in a suit (if worn Hollywood way), but also worn during weekends, rocking yeezy's and supreme clothes. 3. Hypes, likely formed by the throttling of the supply from the dealer/instragram, etc. Ahh eff it. Before I over analyze this crap, I think I need a beer and lottery ticket and hope that I can own one of these soon!

If a watch is mentioned in this video it is most likely already trading over its value, whether the hype would continue is questionable. A better strategy would be look out for the next hype and act before others.

The Daytona has been selling above list (and were hard to find at ADs) for over 30 years. And the last 5 years we've seen the GMT Master II follow suit.

for a classroom episode, can you explain how an aventurine dial is made, or mother of pearl or those special meteorite dials. what does it take to make these? what are the challenges or where do manufacturers differ when using the same base materials. since the dial is what you look at the most i thought it might be interesting

I'm not sure, but if you take a look at the pieces that have jumped up in value in the past few years, except perhaps for the FPJ CB, they are mostly sports watches, (bracelet, rubber strap). Lange doesn't really make those kinds of watches.

I guess that was my question. As Lange has developed the reputation of quality parallel with Patek, why don’t they design a sport watch? I know they only produce 4500-5500 pieces (estimate) which is about 1/10th of Patek... but I would surely by a Lange sports watch!

I really like that D Blue. I like the size of it. Been watching the price for a while. Talked to traders in the west and east. The conclusion is the gain in value will be very very slow. The retail is even more expensive than Daytona but the the resale price is not moving. Good for those who really like to buy it for wearing though.

I guess IG does contribute to the Rolex popularity especially to the young people segment!

the stupid hype, and "profit goals" ; it's no different than how: *Smartphones and PCs are like buying a car nowadays *Supreme and Yeezys are still in business *Buying reasonable things in the free/secondhand market is marked up for personal gain

hey don't Gai in value , there is no value added . The price goes up as the currency/ credit is inflated . Watches are not going up in value the currency is becoming weaker .

OK I’ve been buying Rolexes since I was in my teenage years and early 90s it’s a very expensive game in today’s market by a watch that you can enjoy don’t look at it as an investment if it happens it happens invest your money and your time elsewhere remember take your money and watch it grow and other assets don’t follow into a game when the market is so high by you watch for what it is proud owner of two stainless Daytona’s

With the Patek and Rolex marketing machine, I will NEVER buy one. There are better quality, and HANDMADE watches.
