Qatar said 500 migrant workers died constructing the stadium that hosts the 2022 World Cup soccer games. This is most likely a low figure. Building the Hoover Dam caused the death of 96 people. While the Hoover Dam has been generating life saving electricity for almost 100 years, the soccer stadium in Qatar will probably be left unused after the tournament like so many construction projects for major sporting events including the Olympics. Life is cheap, and increasing so these days.

man this is pretty much how it is lol. I currently work as a tile setter here in L.A. our crew is 15 people 13setters and 2 helpers as most helpers quit after only a few weeks because the job can be really demanding. We finished a 45ft×30ft wall with 100lb+thinset/mud tile sheets. carrying a 100lb stone sheet then adding mud and thinny was a pain. last week due to corona, our team was cut so now we have less workers and i had to mix 7k pounds of Mud to float a 2nd floor patio, then another 3k for the 3rd floor. They have to be mixed by hand since the whole build is done except the balcony/patio as they had issues and we weren't able to work on them till they were corrected. Working like this you really dont need the Gym lol but I like it, money's good and potential to grow is huge as well, luckily I don't work in this business in a 3rd world country.

I worked the engineering side most of my life but I've spent lots of time on site and seen these guys work and I'm good friends with some so I know it's really a young person's game, and one your body will pay for the rest of your life. I DGAF what my son does, just not something that is physically impossible to do long term - not to mention the reams of SDS binders listing all the ways the various materials being used are killing you.
