Crazy to think that one day in the past these cars were carefully driven away from the dealers forcourt with pride and excitement.

Tell you what, those old Vauxhalls were built well, those interior parts and plastics really held up well. The interior dash on that Astra SXI looked brand new, worth saving for a future build perhaps.

That MK4 looked tidy, I loved my Coupe. That has the X18XE1 engine with cable throttle. You can tell this because part of the cover is black. Later Z18XEs came after 2001 with drive by wire throttle had an all silver cover. Good to see a few Saabs in there too 🧐

Used to love going around the scrap yards never know what you're going to find ..unfortunately down my way most of them are gone and the ones what are left don't let you in there anymore😪

Went to the dunfermline scrappy must of been 2015 time, seen retroshite had it on their site so decided to g for a nosy, I'm sure that red cavy was there then lol, but I know there was a couple of them, then got a subframe out one of them, it was out of the undergrowth and he kindly put it up using the forkie so easy to get. Not been to it since but still looks interesting. Seen you passing by in West Calder in your cavy, wasn't in my cavy though (Missus pug 2008), but nice to see it passing by!

Great little video Dougie, never knew about that scrapyard in Dunfermline, but looks like a great little place full of hidden Vauxhalls.

Give me an old vauxhall car any day over the new modern s**t, build quality after 2003/2004 is just rubbish. Had a vectra B qnd C and the B build quality was solid

I've got a 2008 astra H, 2005 vectra c at present, The whole quality and feel of the astra h is just cheap compared to the vectra c. But compare the 2 with the build quality on my old 1996 vectra b put them all to shame, the comfort of the seats, suspension, even the switches and stalks, you could just feel the quality back then. it was a joy to drive on long motorway journeys, it was only LS model but it was 100x better quality than the H & C.

I can add to that. Mileage making in a 1995 2.0 8v Omega (X20SE), approx 11000 km/year (~6800 miles) engine in factory spec, compared to our city car, a 2002 Corsa 1.2, which was already twice patched for rust (sills were gone, floor was gone) and whose engine is on its deathrow at 255000 km. Maintenance is top, as it lasted longer than it should. The Omega ... does what it did 27yr ago : cruising on and on and on. Not the fastest with 115bhp but i barely touch the pedal to keep a steady 80mph on the motorway.

Your video's are superb , I miss my G626 FSD nova 1.4 sr , in a super rare metallic blue , the PNG group used to send me letters to show the car at events. Kept it immaculate, back to black for the trim etc 😂

Tam the poles is the 2nd yard you went to, has always been a goldmine for older cars, trees grow through the cars they been there that long, U pull it in Inverkeithing is a hit or miss due to an influx of eastern European buyers sending workers in to strip the cars, Good content.

Always a bit sadness when you see what was a nice Vauxy that you would have loved to drive back in the day dead. That veccy was a canny wee car with the v6 motor, as for the astra I had the 3 door version of that car years ago, same seats and everything but had the x18xe1 motor instead of the z18xe in this 5 door astra. Was a smashing drive back in the early 00's, reg was W713 RDL.

Used to love a rake about a scrappies. But for the last 5 to 10 years, the Poles come in and strip anything that comes in to sell on ebay so not much to be had any more. Was surprised those cars still had so much left on them. But I suppose they're getting too old for mainstream parts needs. I drive past that hidden scrapyard all the time! Did not know it was there!

I remember a few years ago, U Pull it had 2 1993 Cavaliers with MoT for sale. Was so tempted. Also had a few 1997 Vectras that they wouldn’t sell to me in one piece😔

U've got tae love an old vauxhall, had a mk2 astra gte in the late 90's and acted like a hooligan in it 🤣🤣🤣 running a corsa c 1.4 sri twinport with Nearly 211,000 miles on it.

I'm sure I read somewhere that all the Omega's had the wooden trim insert as standard but Vauxhall painted over it on Select/GLS etc. Might be worth have a wee scrape in a hidden place on the trim to see what's underneath?

That x reg astra sxi is exactly the same interior as my 1999 astra 2.0 sri. Whats weird is i used to put the radio code in my car if i had taken the battery off for the first 15 years or so and now for the past 8 years i don't need to put the code in the radio to make the radio work when i remove the battery. I cannot work it out. Only thing i done in the last 8 years is i fitted another abs module in it as the motherboard on the old modulator was fried and the abs light come on and off randomly and the speedo and mileage did not work, but the rev gauge worked. All works perfectly now with the new modulator and still not having to put the radio code in when taking the battery off. Worth a gamble taking the radio out you might get lucky.

Amazing to see those mk5 Astra's already in the junkyard. Some even with perfectly straight bodies. So what makes them being scrapped? Bad engines? Bad transmissions?

Pretty certain I was in that 1st place years back for a Pug twin carb, when I got back to the van and looked it over it was cracked so I took it back and when the fella handed me back my £60 he was trying to give me three very sketchy looking score notes, not the ones I gave him, from memory the dude was massive, was like one of the baldies from The Wanderers, he did swap the £20's back over again, was years ago but I'm sure that's the place.

That Astra as you had mentioned is a Sxi 16V. Registered Date 06 September 2000

That’s a shame it’s so far away from me. I’m after some vectra b 2.2 engine/gearbox mounts including the one on back of gearbox to subframe

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.

The Frontera was an awful car. Vauxhall deciding to get on the 4x4 bandwagon and failing miserable. They used car engines on them including the 2.2 dti. Massively underpowered for the size of the Frontera. The slowest thing I have ever driven.
