One of the things that always caught me off-guard is the bosses that perform a combo after they get staggered. Like, the bar flashes, you land a charged heavy attack and they suddenly start flailling around, and actually stagger 5 minutes later.

Gotta love the insane move-sets, stamina, damage, hp, poise, etc, bosses have in these games. I played all the Dark Souls games and Elden Ring, but I don't think I'd have the patience to put myself through this masochistic orgy this game seems to be. Feels much better to kill hoards of monsters like in Doom or similar shooters, especially if you have a life outside gaming.

I couldn't begin to understand the perspective that the "red attacks" in this game are a problem. They're adapted from the Perilous attacks in Sekiro. The perilous attacks cannot be blocked or dodged. Lunge attacks can be deflected without use of Mikiri counter, but the game also gives you that specific ability as a counter to them. Sweep attacks have to be jumped over. In Lies of P, the red attacks cannot be blocked or dodged and instead must be parried or otherwise avoided in some way. How is this a *design flaw?* There is absolutely nothing wrong with this concept whatsoever and its functionality is universally consistent. Parrying in this game is mechanically rewarding and heavily incentivized. It is a core mechanic that you are intended to rely on. I don't know how this could be perceived as bad. EDIT: I'm tired of getting responses from idiots that are just mindlessly repeating what is already said in the video, all of whom are just lying about Sekiro, so here we go. Here is a list of every boss in Sekiro that has attacks with extended windups and sudden swings: Gyobu Genichiro Guardian Ape Great Shinobi Owl Owl (Father) Headless Ape Emma the Gentle Blade Isshin Ashina Isshin the Sword Saint Now, here are all the mini-bosses: Naomori Kawarada (and his duplicates) Headless (all of them) Juzou the Drunkard (and his two duplicates) Blazing Bull (and Sakura Bull) Armored Warrior Lone Shadow Longswordsman (and his duplicates) Seven Ashina Spears Shikibu (and his duplicate) Ashina Elite (both of them) Snake Eyes (both of them) O'Rin of the Water Multi-attack combos with uneven, arrhythmic timing are introduced by Naomori, *the first miniboss of the game proper.* Fast, frenetic combos with uneven timing are introduced by Gyobu, *the first boss.* These are things that Sekiro does and it does them *a lot.* This is not something introduced by Lies of P. It is not something unique to Lies of P. Anyone who says so is a *liar* or they don't remember Sekiro at all. Either way, they're not worth your time or mine. Please go away.

its a problem because the parry window is so small.

@@theeliteterrarian1888 I will argue that it's not a problem at all because there is no objectively correct number of frames that is "enough." You would have to explain to me what big enough would be and then why. Making it exactly like Sekiro is not an argument because if the parry window was identical in that game, would we be having the same argument? Of course not. I hadn't played Sekiro in well over a year and I was able to adapt and beat the game and even parry very well. Any player can do this if they try enough because your ability to parry attacks is based entirely on learning and studying attacks. So what exactly makes it 'too small?'

@@willryan6523 having the most powerful attack unavoidable unless you choose the most difficult form of "dealing" with an attack is way too punishing. also, red attacks in games usually signify that you need to dodge. and since my brain is already hardwired to dodge after seeing a red attack... i got hit quite alot from them.

@@theeliteterrarian1888 You would need to explain why that is "way too punishing." What is the objectively correct amount of damage for them to deal that would not be "too punishing?" I doubt you can answer that. I don't agree. That's the entire point of the attacks. They are the most dangerous. Why should it be just the same as any other attack except this time you have to parry it because they say so? That would be completely arbitrary. This is also a total deflection because it is not what you said. You said the parry window was too small. That would have to mean it is *always* too small in every situation. If that's not the case, then it *is not* too small. You can't now narrow it down to a single specific context and expect that to be broadly representative of why you are correct. It is not. I used my personal experience in the game to demonstrate that, subjectively, it cannot be considered too small or just fine. There has to be an objective criteria that would apply broadly in all contexts for all players, or it is simply not true. You are not providing that.

@@theeliteterrarian1888 You very simply seem to not have an appreciation for the concept of risk vs reward. It is not an *absolute necessity* that you *always* parry *every single* red attack. There are plenty of them with poor tracking that you can just sidestep entirely. There are several that you can just run away from. There are several with minimal forward movement that you can just preemptively double roll out of before it even happens. In the instances where you do have to parry them because escape is either improbably or impossible, that is the entire point. These one or, at most, two attacks that an enemy or boss has that can hit you guaranteed unless you parry out of it represent a single dimension of added challenge. Did you not play Sekiro? Sekiro has "red attacks" as well. They are called Perilous Attacks. They cannot be blocked. Perilous lunge attacks must either be perfect deflected or you must have the Mikiri Counter skill to use against them. Perilous sweep attacks must be jumped over. Perilous grab attacks are the most punishing move in the game and cannot be countered in any way. At least many of the grab attacks in Lies of P can be blocked or parried. These are even more devastating in the context of Sekiro because, effectively, they *also* cannot be dodged due to the pathetically small number of i frames that the Sekiro dodge has (it's around 5). They are *always* the most dangerous, punishing attack that enemies can have. I have never heard anyone complain about them being bad. So please, by all means, explain to me why this is bad or unfair in objective terms and also why this makes the parry window "too small."

Damn Bushy beat Laxasia in more or less the same time as i but almost unequiped...with all the equipment options i think i was able to mitigate around 50-60% of physical damage (+ status resistance and so on) but he always left empty those spaces or didn't had equipped the better versions lol (also very curious how the way to advance in "armor" is through these 4 slots of equipment and how better versions increase weight, so it becomes a priority to get high capacity...). Also, the biggest Lie in this game is that it is a game of parrys...it is more a "make a preemptive block, and dare to try a parry reducing the reaction time as your confidence increases" kinda game, which is why so many people is frustrating about, because they fail to understand that the survival mechanic is a "preemptive block and possible parry" rather a "parry or die" - as for red attacks, the usual reaction aplicable to any of them is "parry or flee" because you can flee running and jumping from almost every red attack - and there is the magnificnet amulet of the Swamp Green Beast ;p
