It's great to see that you have a fridge!😊 well done on all your hard work! As a plant lover and gardener, I think you should get some lovely herbascious borders going! That will help the insect population, and therefore, the whole eco-system!!!😊😊😊😊

Hi Maya, Thanks for sharing your journey. I have watched a few videos and I want to share a few things that I hope will interest you, let's hope you haven't addressed these in earlier video's or these will be not helpful any more: 1. Don't be annoyed by fast growth of plants/trees. Biomass is your friend to improve the soil on your terraces. Ideally you would have a wood chipper to cut all the biomass in small pieces and create a great mulch or compost. 2. Try to place your pump based on water clarity/quality. There are very cheap 12V or 24V (50 EURO) pumps that can create 30 m of head. these can easily fill water tanks that you can place higher than the cabin, so you have gravity fed water. With a year round stream, you even have the possibility to install a RAM pump, these don't even require electricity and can pump water up very high too. (at a slower pace, but perfect to fill a water tank) 3. A lot of people struggle with off grid solar when the rains come and block the sun for a while. You have the perfect anti-dote for that, I could only dream of a water wheel like you already have. How difficult is it to replace the water pipes to feed the water back to the water wheel? A generator on that water wheel axel and "Bob 's your uncle". 4. Try looking into the Battery powered strimmers, not only will you save money on fuel (and fuel to go buy the fuel), but these require infinitely less maintenance than these petrol powered strimmers (and start every time with the push of a button). write some of the brands (ego, Bosch, Dewalt, Greenworks, Makita, Black and Dekker, skill, Husqvarna etc... Bosch has really good professional ones) they might even send you one to unbox on your channel. Or even robo mowers to keep the grass short once it is manageable 5. Long term you will probably need a bigger inverter and bigger batteries as the more electricity you have, the more you will use and we will all have electric cars soon ;). 6. Carrying loads of material up terraces or stairs gets old very quickly try thinking about installing 2 strong posts at the top and the bottom of your slope. pull a steel cable between them and you can pull up stuff on a trolley Have a nice day!

Once you clear it up, your land looks amazing. I'd recommend for the terraces that you have plans for things (gardens, camping, drive way, what not.) lay down some weed cloth, or weed barrier, and it will block the sun from getting to the plants under it, and they will die out and then not come back after a year or so, which will allow you to till it up a little easier, and then progress with your plans for the land.

Oh yeah I forgot to warn.. We do have snakes. It's very rare to see them but.. We have them. They're so rare that quickly go to the 'Forgotten department'. Be careful please!!! One time I also saw one... Some days later it was at the door of the place I was staying! All coiled up and barely noticeable! I don't think they are poisonous but... Better safe than sorry. You can call the firemen to take it to another place if you want. Or keep it to control pests like rats and stuff. Barely seen any rats too btw... But it's up to you as you see fit. Loving the progress!!! Do you intend to restore the old house too? I think you said something about that but it wasn't clear. That house can become quite the house omg. Best of luck to you!

With that amount of water in your land the mimosas and eucalyptus will not stop growing, and will invade more and more. So, if you want to do something about it You have 3 (not definitive) solutions. 1- excavator , digging all the roots. Its a big mess, and the mimosas still will regrow from seeds and a few leftover roots. 2- cut to the ground, and then cut and cut again, for several years, 3 or 4 times a year, every litle branch and leaves that appear, until you exaust the roots. 3 - herbicide, people hate it, but some times its the most ecologic solution. You will need several aplications as it will still regrow a few times, but it faster, less expensive, and more definitive, without damaging the land and your back. You can try a combination of those 3 tecniques. Anyway,on the big steepy hill on the back of the house, those trees are holding the land better then anyother could. And a big eucalyptus or mimosa, with space to grow sideways are wonderfull beautifull shade teees. Good luck.
