How Tiny Living Drastically Changed My Work Life I Surviving On a Minimal Income

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Many have asked me what I actually do for a living and if I have a job! So in this video I talk about how I completely redesigned my worklife after I moved into my tiny house. Living in a tiny house I have a lot of economic freedom and I can therefore afford to spend my time on things that I feel passionate about.

I would like to from a small community where we can share and help one another with our lifestyle.

The last 7 years I learned, you don't need to go tiny to get out of the rat race. You can stop consuming however you live. You can stop wasting money in buying useless things. You can start growing your own food in nearly every garden, even on a balcony. Or you can collect fruits as berries, apples, pears, nuts and so on outside in nature. You can easily get used to need less without building a tiny house or van. It's not the outer form but the inner way you choose. I'm so glad working only 3 days in my "normal" job. Of course I would earn much more money, if I would work fulltime, but why?

You've had me until the very end. People work full-time to raise their families and provide for them. There is dignity in work. That being said, I agree that the tiny house movement and off grid living fad is unnecessary. A minimalist lifestyle, gardening, making the most of what you have already can deliver the same thing in a much more rightly ordered way

Excellent summary of exactly what i want to do At 62 i dont need money but time is running out... The way you split the three “jobs” is a good way to rationalise how working for yourself can mean looking after yourself / not necessarily owning a small business 🤔 Therefore Two days working on my food garden is essential and not a guilty pleasure.

Elderflowers go on to produce elderberries. Elderberries when simmered in a covering of water, then strained and the liquid brought back to the boil with a pound of honey per pint of liquid, makes a wonderful winter remedy that keeps flu away 🙂. When jarred in sterilised jars while still simmering, it will keep for years 🙂. Tastes lovely as well.

did the same in 2019 after working in Manufacturing overseas for 20 years. finally decided to repatriate and build a beach villa in a beautiful windy coastal town famous for kitesurfing & surfing. My property is just 100 m from white beach front, Im working remote full time graveyard shift so I spend 3-4 hours day time outdoors gardening, tending to my chicken coop and my pets and next month looking to build a small piggery to supply local butchery at this small property by the hills that i just bought. So yeah, drastic change from toxic city and corporate living to simple country living may just extend my lifespan and have a better sense of fulfillment.

We really don't need all the things tv and magazines and society try to say we need. If we brought back things like "community" life could be so much easier. Somewhere we got off track and thought we had to have all these materialistic things to arrive at some destination called sucess. You waste your life and energy and health in that pursuit. Relationships and experiences and living with and among nature is way way more important. Peace in your soul is a good thing.

I am in the US, in Florida, and am watching the natural habitat be destroyed and it’s killing me to see it. I know that your way of life is a LOT (understatement of the year) of hard work. I've been doing van-life full-time now for about 2 years out of a squaredrop camper I pull behind my car in the states. Tiny Living here still has lots of obstacles....most zoning even in the countryside won't allow tiny homes that don't have their own sewer & running water, electricity. With Van-Life, there are more and more no overnight parking signs for places that used to allow overnight parking.

It’s true that we are regulated, but it’s not as strict as the picture you paint there - you just need to know how the navigate the rules. We are allowed to build sheds and such without permission up til a certain percentage of your lot, if you register them. You can build a tiny house as a “summer house” in the summer house zone, but then you have to not live there full time during winter, which I don’t. I’m away for appr 9 weeks every winter, staying at friends/family/girlfriend😊
