In this video, we're discussing the bizarre story of Alex Murdaugh and the Unthinkable crime he may have committed. Behavior experts have reacted to the story and it's shocking! Check out this video to find out what they think happened and why it begs belief!
The murder trial of Alex Murdaugh began January 25, 2023, with instructions from the judge and opening statements from the prosecution and defense. Murdaugh was accused of the murders of his wife and their 22-year-old son a year and a half earlier. Local media were calling the trial South Carolina's "trial of the century".
On June 7, 2021, Murdaugh called police from his cell phone at around 10pm, saying he had discovered the bodies of 22-year-old son Paul and 52-year-old wife Maggie near the dog kennels at the family's hunting lodge in Islandton, South Carolina. Both had been shot multiple times and with different weapons. Murdaugh reported that at the time of the killings (around 9pm it was later determined), he had been with his terminally ill father, Randolph III, and mother, who has dementia.

Most of us would either puke to death or in my case they would have to cart me away to Funnyfarm Sanitarium if I saw my loved ones head blown off! But what I find both horrific and sad is if Alex did do it, (which I believe he did), is to have the realization that Paul's looking down the barrel of a gun held by his own father. I mean not only shocking but the very deep, and terrible sadness the poor kid must've felt realizing that your father doesn't and prob. never has loved you. I wonder if any words were exchanged between Alex and Paul?

@@DonnaLena1 The housekeeper testified that Alec called her to come clean up the house the next morning and make it "the way Maggie would like it". He knew that she would pick up the damp towel and the khaki pants and rinse out the shower, even though he didn't specifically ask her to do those things. When he was in jail, he kept asking to speak to her. He wanted to have a chance to coach her about what she saw.

Love your analysis. He is a story teller (Attorney)who manipulates people and the facts, which is what he’s doing here. The property is 1700 acres, but the scene is maybe 500 yards from road, as well as his home is visible from the road. The story with the housekeeper was that he sued his own insurance policy for the housekeeper’s sons after she passed after a fall at his house, but kept the 4.3 mil. He wasn’t estranged from his wife, she was just renovating their beach house 1 hour away. The mother’s house is 15-20 minutes by dark country roads and she has a nurse at night. When he returned to the house he would have seen the lights on at the kennel from the road, but there were none. The first responders describe using their headlights when they arrived. He actually called for both the son and wife to be there that night and as we all know he went to the kennel with the son and wife. He never says he looked for unusual activity on the road, it is desolate out there. What is the sniffing about? And what about pulling his shirt in that moment? You are so right there is no sad reminiscing, so odd. He explains the guy he hired took his daddy to the doctor and he wants us to know he had not fired him yet. “Probably an over reaction” going to get a gun when his wife and son had been killed? It’s a shoot property they have a tons of guns out there and now we know the bullets used are all stocked there. Dumping his chewing tobacco is interesting. The call log now reveals he called 911 on the way to the property, prior to arrival. What is that monster growl?

This is my test; I’ve got three kids and a husband. I have been moved to tears on more than several occasions watching parents talk who have lost a child, it’s so deep and you can feel their pain. I listened to this (didn’t even watch) and I thought, why is it stirring no emotion in me?! Because that man did not lose his wife and CHILD in a tragic shooting. He definitely knew this was going to happen. I trust my own instincts. Of course a court of law should decide this haha! But that’s my two cents.

@Cashmere Monroe Call it what you will... It's empathy. Most neurotypicals, (e.g. non-psychopaths/non-sociopaths) have empathy to some degree or another. Some more, some less so, but 'normal' human emotions include healthy doses of empathy for others. Psychopaths & Sociopaths, OTOH cannot feel empathy for another - they have no 'theory of mind'.. cannot put themselves in anothers shoes. So, it makes perfect sense why so many of us have a problem feeling empathy for Alex. We feel empathy for people who are HURTING...especially losing a child - the worst kind of horrific, raw pain. That's because Alex, imo. has no empathy - he's not experiencing that raw pain and we can all sense it. Our instincts tell us the 'pain' he is faking is not authentic. Any emotion that might resemble 'empathy' for a sociopath/psychopath, is for themselves. I think that's how Alex is so good with the crocodile tears, maybe even conjuring up a few authentic tears, at times...when he feels empathy for himself & sorry state he's gotten himself into.

I was surprised that nobody mentioned how he said (start around 14:08 mark) after he tried to turn his son over and his phone fell out of his pocket that he "started to try to do something with it thinkin maybe but then". That seems like he caught himself mid sentence about to say something incriminating. Especially when you find out that Paul's phone had video of the 3 of them together right before the murders.

When I first saw this video, I was wondering why he wasn't asking them if they could put protection on Buster, his only living son. I'd be asking, are we being targeted? What can you do to protect us? There is none of that because, in my opinion, he knows there is no additional, external threat!

I lost a brother in 2021. It was not entirely unexpected as he was in poor health and 16 years older than me, but he died in his sleep and we found him in his bed the next morning. He also had intellectual disabilities and I had been his caregiver for years and it was not easy. Finding him gone, I was a complete and utter mess, unable to stop crying or speak clearly without a hitch in my voice for hours. Now, I am not a weak woman and have been present for the passing of several family members in ill health and dealt with a great deal of stress and pressure on several fronts in my life. This man should have been practically catatonic at witnessing his beloved wife and son dead in the manner he 'found' them in. Way too calm and collected.

The thing that I wish the prosecutor had made a point of is that Alex claimed that he couldn't recall what he talked about with Maggie when he was on the golf cart just before he "got out of there" and went back to the house. That would have been his last conversation with his wife. Any normal, innocent person would have recalled in detail the last conversation that they had with their loved one. Also, he claims that he checked Paul, tried to turn him over and then his phone fell out and he remembers picking it up and placing it on top of him. Again, any normal, innocent parent seeing their child like that wouldn't even register that a phone dropped out of the child's pocket--let alone be worried about picking it up.

j L. I think he turned Paul over to retrieve Paul’s phone to “to do something with it”-words he blurted out to the officer. What would he have wanted to do with it? When he saw that the phone was already dead, he put it on the body, concocted the story, “I tried to turn him over”. 1. There is no need to turn over the body to check the pulse. 2. There is no need to check the pulse of a man whose brain is no longer inside his skull.

I have worked as a singer at funeral. So when everyone is crying because a young person or a child has died, I do not lose my cool. I sing without a trembling voice. But when my mother called me one morning and told me that my older brother had committed suicide, my legs gave out. I fell hard at the closet next to me and slided down to the floor. After talking to my mother in utter shock I tried to call a friend, but I could not talk. I was just wailing and snoring. My throat was in a emotional cramp. I could only say a word here and there. I don’t mean that you have to be hysterical. But your body will react if you are feeling sorrow and shock.

Crystal Janzen. No doubt there were huge stressors piling up, starting with the checks being discovered that he had withheld, then the son's boat calamity, his father's illness, his wife being willing to pay everybody back every cent, which is the last thing he wanted, to go back and start from scratch. And the housekeeper dying, without the sons seeing a cent of any promised money. But he'd been part of a powerful family, got involved in drugs for some 20 yrs. and was very stressful to be around. Even if people say he treated them like "family", there was always that sense of entitlement and feeling above the law, apparently. Even if you "snap" from stress, do you (allegedly) lure your wife & son back to the house and blow their brains out? He shakes because he's afraid of what will happen to HIM. It doesn't look like he sheds a single tear or has any grief for his family. As a lawyer, he knows how to act in front of the public, and some witnesses said he knew how to manipulate people. What a tragedy: to have so much given to you and destroying it all, with far- reaching ripples for so many others. May all those affected by this calamity be able to recover, and the victims rest in peace!

I’m not so sure about that. I was an RN for 45 years accustomed to thinking and acting under pressure and documenting events in chronological order. When I was 67 years old, I was assaulted by a 28 year old. The cops were a bit sus when they arrived at my home to be handed a typewritten statement of events in chronological order before I sought medical attention. Someone who is accustomed to thinking this way defaults to that. Murtaugh is a strategic thinker and a lawyer, so I would expect him to be thinking about who did it, what are the clues, not snivelling like a toddler or honking like a goose. I won’t express an opinion about guilt, but his behaviour had my antennae spinning. Sounds from witnesses as though people were walking all over the crime scene though. I would have expected a lawyer to be screaming at people to back off until CSI could process the scene.

you guys should listen to the bodycam footage of the FIRST RESPONDER. 20min after calling 911 Alex and the first responder walk at the scene, the scene where his wife and son's bodies are still lying uncovered, the officer asks him a question and he starts talking all teary and then stops MID-SENTANCE voice completely changes to say "hey how ya doin" to a officer walking past, then goes back into emotional voice answering the original question.... WTF????

There would be no conversation or interview with me after finding my child and/or spouse murdered. They would have to wait until I came to in the hospital after screaming myself to near death. I cannot imagine the terror experienced by the wife and son as they saw the gun pointed at them.

The murder happened June 7 and the police got paul and maggie's phone that same night, but didn't ask for Alex's phone until October, and guess what: he'd deleted the activity from that day. Also, if you want to see a real study in fear behavior, check out the testimony of Shelly, the caregiver for Alex's mom that night. She was so scared on the stand she cried, and sometimes could not even answer.

Before Alec left the house to go visit his mom, he says he called Maggie down at the kennels to let her know and there was no answer. Then he left, but didn't he have to drive right past the turn-off to the kennels on the way out? Why wouldn't he just pull over there to tell Maggie and Paul he was leaving and would be right back? It's the most normal thing you'd do if she hadn't picked up the phone and it was on his way exiting the property. Unless of course he killed them.
