Wow! Mr Gardner has that Circlespeak down pat. “What did you just say? for the last 40 seconds?” We should name that “Newsomspeak” I accidentally listened to Newsom’s “State of the State” address a few years ago. That guy spoke for 40 minutes and didn’t say a damned thing.

LOL...."huge demand" for high speed rail in CA?....NOT likely......$120B for the right to buy a ticket from SF-LA that will be at least TWICE the price and takes TWICE as long as a flight you can catch EVERY hour

California has a huge demand for a high-speed train system to connect the major California state cities to enable the residents to get out of California in an orderly manner. It can be built cheaply using a single track system since the train only needs to run one way.😅

Simple analysis is not one from the private sector wants to risk money on something that might never get completed nor will have enough riders to be financially viable...that is California...

Mexico started building high speed rail through the jungles of the Yucatan in June 2020 . The 966 miles long line is almost finished . One line of 5 more being developed to cover most regions North to South , and East to West of Mexico . The GDP of Mexico is only a fraction of the US .

@@davidjackson7281 The new lines are still under construction . The Maya train system as the rest of the new lines under construction are design to run 160 k or 100 mph . Not as HS as China , Japan or Western Europe but faster then the USA . Service between NYC and San Francisco in 1900 was a half a day faster than today .

@@paulpetock2836 Tren Maya is a huge accomplishment and will become even better as the build out continues. Have you had a chance to ride it? l believe with upgrades and improvements the average speed could increase to 60 mph but since there are several station stops a top speed of 100 mph is adequate for the design-intended diesel operations. ln the USA Acela's top speed is 150 mph. Brightline's is 125 mph. The NEC is 125 mph. Many other Amtrak routes reach 110 mph. From NYC-DC the average speed is 80 mph. From West Palm to Orlando the average speed is 77 mph. Amtrak service from NY to SF requires an overnight layover in Chicago. The Transcontinental Railroad from Council Bluffs to the SF Bay (1950 miles) was completed in 1869 after only 6 years.
