Thanks for the memories for a old retired trucker. Still giggle every time I think of driver who forgot to dump their air bags and watch the truck bounce, in one case right into the hopper. How many time did we tell the kids to take their coffee with them before they raised the trailers. Or my person favorite watching a long semi;s steering tires hang over the edge as it went up only to see the king pin break sending the truck to the ground.

I never knew this happened. You should do some vids on how to back up trains. Very few good videos on that matter.

Backing up trains is the same, but you have to set up the pup with the lead and chase it with the tractor.

Some companies in bc are switching to a new chip train style from tycrop, they remove the possum belly and stretch the boxes out to be the same volume but a flat floor for better cleanout. Makes them more versatile for hauling hog fuel and sawdust without cross contamination. They can be smooth inside with ribs outside or a smoothflow wall design only those are much heavier. Many companies are starting to switch over the tarps to electric for safety as well. There is a new style for b trains from valid manufacturing designed specifically for high loads and they are testing them on 53' trailers as well. Some companies use the ecargo 591-w with decent success 3 seasons of the year except winter and 90% of the quad axle chip trailers we have around here doing stateside are all electric tarps

Electric tarp would be sweet. We use Dr tarp for our tarps here in Ontario. I now run a tycorp smooth flow walking floor now. It unloads real quick on the dumper, 12 to 15 mins walking a load off. Love it

Cool video! Question. Why not a 53 foot or i guess a 48 ft trailer so there's no gap for unloading? Or this is just one of the many things you haul.

48s don't have enough volume. We do run extra volume 53ft 4 axle with a drop belly. And the super Bs . Lately I've been trying to stay on the chip haul.

Does the elevating ramp rely on strong parking brakes from the truck and trailer? Or does it have a binding mechanism to help keep the truck and trailer locked in place?

The cost to build this must be phenomenal! Why not just using large bulk tipping bins?

  • @endurotruckererniedesjardins

These chip haul trailers are built extremely light weight and try to get as much volume as possible. In the summer the fibre gets really dry and light weight, so the volume is super important so we can max out to 63 500 kg gross weight and keep the same pay rate. So its a volume game for more money.
