You want a protein supplement? After you press your manageable amount of weight over your head, and do your squats, maybe walk a few miles, throw some cooked white beans in a blender with some nutritional yeast to make a cheesy soup; add some steamed broccoli and there ya go. Probably 40 grams of protein right there. No powdered supplements or magic potions needed. Just food.

I read that if you're not building muscle with exercise, it's likely you're not getting enough calories. People shifting from processed diets tend to eat portions that are too small. I’m mixing red sorghum into my white rice & eat it w/ steamed or stirfry veggies. I gained all my loss muscles back by eating rice+veggies. No meat, dairy or eggs. I have kept my cancer at bay for 6 yrs now. All thanks to the McDougall diet. The only animal products i eat is in my condiments in the form of fish sauce or oyster sauce very rarely as a treat once every 2-3 months if i feel like it. Most of the time, i’m too lazy or too cheap to buy some or even to pour onto my veggies. It’s easier & more convenient to simply sauté my veggies w/ loads of minced garlic & a splash of water. Even more convenient to put my veggies in a steamer basket over my rice & cook it together w/ my mixed grain rice. I’m free to do my yoga while my meal cook itself in my fancy rice cooker.

Blue Zones... mcdougall's fear of all fat and any fat will be his downfall.. i am not saying eat a rich diet in processed foods and high fat at all. i am saying the blue zones, where the longest lived people come from, they all eat some healthy fats, including olive oil, some fish or meat and dairy. And the ones who were born in the 20th century never really got sick until the last 1-2 years of their life.
