How can I make a difference? | Dan Parris | TEDxGatewayArch
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In his talk, Dan Parris explains that we can make a difference in the world through our time, talents, and treasure. The reasons we should make a difference is because something about this world breaks our heart, and how we should make a difference is by doing what makes us come alive. These create your Y2Q (Your 2 Questions) and by intersecting their answers, there you will find how you should make a difference in this world. However, he ends by warning us what can keep us from making that difference by taking us through the "5 Stages of Activist Grief."
Dan Parris is the founder of Speak Up Productions, a St. Louis based documentary production company. Learn more about Speak Up Productions, their films, and Y2Q at www.speakupproductions.com.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

Making a difference by doing good in the world is a rewarding pursuit worth your time and effort
A great lead in to students looking at 'How can I make a difference.'
Awesome talk! I love how Dan took such a difficult and nebulous topic (living with purpose and living in a way that matters) and brought clarity and some practical steps to the table! Great job Dan!

Man, what a great talk! You have to check this out!
I struggle with social anxiety in social interactions. Its hard for me to talk to people i know from highschool or just plain out cry. I dont know what im doing tbh. These videos are so inspiring i love these. What can i do if i start feeling anxious when trying to talk to childhood friends. Like i need help finding the right words to say its too challenging.
Share it more then more people would see it as they should we need more people like this and also he is opening up ways for people who don’t know what to do with their time
Dan, this talk was awesome! I'm proud to know you!

Make difference of human kind while you live ❤ Actors knows that & they lie and act on people emotion & fans 😢
The fact this video only has 30k views 7 years later tells you something. Saddening truely
It doesn't have to be something that breaks your heart. I have a dream to make a difference in the area of space technology.
