Live Life to the fullest | Nick Martin | TEDxFHKufstein

In 2009 Nick Martin quit his job as a developer and tech-savvy person. He packed up his bags and went on to fulfill his own dreams. For him this meant exploring the world. So far he has seen more than 50 countries and lived in Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Ecuador, Fiji and New Zealand. His trip took him six years but made him so many experiences richer and wiser. Since then the world traveler is sharing his experiences on his blog “Travel-Echo” and at various events as a public speaker. His message is powerful: “Live life to the fullest. Let me inspire you, to get the best out of your own life.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Just breathe and take it slow, life is no movie but it can be. Slowly build yourself and always remind yourself to cut yourself some slack every now and then. Slowly but surely you'll be fine, 13 is very young and that's good! You have all the time to build yourself day by day. Great to hear you're taking the first step, best of luck.

I envy people like Nick, who manage to live their life to the fullest, particularly when they manage to travel the world. It has been my unfulfilled dream to travel the world, which I could not for various reasons. I do believe travelling far and wide does open our worldview and helps us shed our assumptions and inhibitions about various cultures, people, places. Adventurous traveling is one of the best ways to discover your own self too, as many of my friends who did it told me.

I am an agoraphobic for the last 15 years but recently I've had a spiritual enlightenment that showed me the true reality of our world and so much more so I signed to volunteer in another country so I'm binging on so many inspirational and spiritual science topics I can. I'm a recovering addict and I learned that if you do anything for 30 days straight it will become a habit. So I used the 30 day method on all mental, consciousness, nature, and all things positive and only things that will add good to our universe. Anyone else want to join the volunteer program they even have packages for poor people like me so check out what worked for me. I'm sending good vibes to all who read this. If I can leap and make it out my house to another country it can be done. "Live life without limits" 🌫️🌬️🌊🦋

This is such a first world problem. Discontent and desire to be different, to live like a character from a movie. Take a poverty ridden person and give them a sports car and a cosy job and I'm sure they wont be complaining. The only reason you're dissatisfied is because you don't have to survive. You have food, you have basic income and so it gets boring because you have so much time on your hands to overthink. its all about perspective.

I mean sure, I agree completely, it’s a fact. It is a more-so first world problem. But if you’re in that certain level of privilege where you have a lot of time to overthink and you’re not fulfilled with your situation even if all your needs are covered, then it’s still an applicable problem for those people. Definitely not nearly as bad as those that are fighting to survive, but I think you can still wish for a fulfilling life while being grateful for the privilege you have through having perspective.

I'm pursuing a career in a very tough course but for a while there has been this nagging feeling that this is not what I want, it won't make me happy no matter how much I'd earn in the future. Everyone around me says I have an ability to do this tough course but no one asked me what I really wanted to do. And now I've found my passion and that is art and writing. I know I can do this and after feeling lost for so long, I've decided to live my life in my own terms. So I started an art account and I've promised myself not to look back. I don't want to lie on my deathbed, regretting the life I lived. I'm trusting my gut and following my heart.

Those people will always live inside you, even when they are gone. And if you go live your life, you will have more to share with them, more to inspire them maybe to make changes to live their own lives with more courage. Out of fear of losing what you have, you end up losing what you (and them) could be. Maybe you can talk about challenges together, maybe your relationship will grow if you dare to act. But you will never know until you jump.

Martin's key point is that through following our hobbies and taking any risks, we should try to live each day to the maximum. However, despite how motivational the speech may be Martin did not address the disparities in access to opportunities, therefore some individuals would not have the same finances or opportunity to follow their interests and live life to the fullest. In addition, he emphasizes the idea that doing a regular job cannot make us happy, while many individuals may be really content to have stability in their lives.

I see this talk as more if you have a dream and it’s a burning desire you should pursue it, if you can. Not to say just travel with no money in your bank account. He said he worked hard to save some money to make it possible. And it was risky, he was hurt during his travels and that friend who wanted to become a photographer, may have done so also due to chance. The world isn’t so romantic, life is realistic. It depends on your passion for something, it will drive you through the dark times.

With all respect, I have travelled a lot, now I'm old and I have no career and no money. I was busy travelling around the world, taking jobs in hospitality to pay for me bills. Now I want a 9 - 5 job to settle down somewhere and it's not easy. I'll have to study something in order to get it. lol

And if you had focused on your career you would be writing the following comment: "I wish I had travelled a lot. I feel like I have missed out on so much. For years I just saw the same company and only had the chance to travel somewhere once a year. And nobody cherrished my work."

the message he delivered isn't about traveling or not, in my view, even if you work regularly, you can still do something great, its all about the mindset that chasing the better version of yourself, to live it at fullest, it just sometimes, the work can not fullfil us, deeply inside maybe its just you are lazy, to tell you the truth, the quality of everything you did represents your entire life, go on to the traveling road isn\t gonna change you, but the mindset and the action will

All chronically ill, suffering and disabled people just got up and went after it. Dude seems open-minded, but there are people out there by the Billions who are dreaming of the next meal to survive... traveling the world for them comes second. He is young and healthy from a well off country. The latter years of his life may yield a different perspective if medical bills start piling up and he can no longer work like a dog to make up. Balance is key to everything in life.
