How bad is Child Kidnapping in China?

It's a nasty subject, but it has actually been something that affected my life here in China, I have wanted to talk about it for ages and want to get the information out there...
Website to post pictures of suspected kidnap victims: www.baobeihuijia.com/
An estimated 70,000 children are kidnapped in China every year, although the Chinese government reported fewer than 10,000 kidnappings. According to the United States Department of State, estimates are closer to 20,000.
Some children are reported to have been sold into adoption overseas. The adoption agencies of China receive considerable donations from foreign parents when they adopt, sometimes as much as $5,000; such agencies have been known to purchase children from human traffickers, although such cases are usually rare.

You said it yourself in previous videos isn't it possible that the parents just sold there children for money? More then likely the children are abused and starving that might explain there condition. Either way incredibly immoral and horrible to even think about.

I was almost kidnapped in Shanghai city center at around 5 or 6. I was walking in front of my parents and their friends. The street was crowded. My parents went into a shopping mall but I didn’t notice. Someone put a hand on my head trying to convince me my parents are still behind me. So I kept walking and didn’t look back. The next thing I knew is I heard one friend of my parents yelling from the gate of a shopping mall about 10 meters away to tell the man keep away from me. I never saw the man’s face but every time when I think about this incident I feel really lucky the kidnapper didn’t succeed. Otherwise I may be sold in rural areas to be a farmer’s wife or become the tools for some begging gangs like in this video, or even beaten in disabled to make people feel pity.

Videos on whether or not i should date Chinese girls or what are the preferences of USA\China between men and women are all very entertaining and by all means have more of that BUT the real underlying problems and human suffering do not get resolved. Clearly he didn't ask the world to come into China to fix the problem, he stated that the Chinese just look the other way or enforce these acts of kidnapping by giving these thugs the handouts they ask for. He has actually caught on film how these children are being drugged and passed around to be used by beggars, so he is asking the native Chinese that watch his channels and foreign visitors (who give less fucks about what they might look like filming a beggar) to report what they see. So tell me, what is wrong with that? Are you the leader of one of these beggar groups, sex traffickers, or something else that is being affected by the new police presence?

We need more courageous foreigners like you. When I was young, my mother always tells me to stay away from those beggers, ignore them, even if you know there is definitely something odd happening. And I am sure I am not the only Chinese who is brought up like that. What us Chinese have lost now are courage and sympathy, we lost many of our morals after the culture revolution. This is a pitiful fact to admit, it is a tragedy of our nation. The heartlessness of modern Chinese people is definitely one of many reasons why there are dozens of thousands cases of kidnap happen every year. But just for today, thank you, deep from my heart, thank you for assisting our children. And by the way, I won't consider those Wumao dog cunts are nationalists, they are far from to be even considered as normal human beings, the way they think is just abnormal.

When I was young my parents were EXTREMELY strict about how far we could stray off them whenever we went out, I was such a rebellious soul that it irritated the crap out of me. I could remember vividly one night when my dad tried to explain to me about strangers and kidnappings, but I was too young to understand the gravity of it. I laid in bed and he went outside to talk to my mother. I could hear them clearly in my room. He recapped to my mother a story about a close friend who went on a family holiday to China and came back with both children kidnapped. His wife was carrying their baby son with one arm while the other hand holding onto the older son at a theme park as he went to buy food. Someone just dashed over and snatched the baby off her hands into the crowd, she gave chase and couldn't keep up, turned back, the other son was gone as well. After they returned she became mentally unstable and their lives spiraled to sh*t. Till today I thought it was the craziest thing that could happen to ANYONE. I really wish and hope all child kidnappers face a gruesome end that suffers for a long long time till every nerve of their bodies get expired by pain.

Kidnapping and sex trafficking is the one thing I detest about the Han Chinese. One of my Vietnamese relatives was kidnapped, forced to marry a Han Chinese man and had two kids with him. After many years of "marriage" she was allowed to visit her family in Vietnam, who she had not contact for many years. She had to leave her kids in China because her husband expected that to be reason for her to return. She walked away from her kids and stayed in Vietnam. Her kids called their mom begging her to come back. She told them bluntly what had been done to her and they have to live with the fact that their father is a kidnapper and a slave owner and she hopes he burns in hell. Similar stories along with child kidnapping and sex trafficking are numerous across Southeast Asia. I thought Chinese officials and the Chinese themselves turns a blind eye to these issues because it's so rampant and no one in China seems to care. This video shows me perhaps it's not necessarily the case.

I have seen some stories about the Vietnamese girls" married" Chinese men on the chinese discussion forums. I felt pity for the girls. This is because the sex ratio in rural area in China is very huge , there are far more men than women so the men's family will buy brides from Vietnam. Just to give a certain amount of money to the bride's family, you can get a woman. It is sad but true. In the rural area, people are undereducated and they don't treat women equally.

I'm a Finnish-Cantonese born in Finland. When I was little I used to spend my summer vacation with my grandparents in Guangzhou. My grandparents never let me play outside or walk by myself. I always had to hold on someone when we were outside. It's so different compared to Finland where I can play outside till night comes. Sometimes when me and my grandparents see some child begging they will tell me to be more careful and not to runoff by myself otherwise some bad guys might kidnap me and cut off my limbs like what they did to those begging children. Once some motorbiker knocked me down on the street when I was walking next to my grandfather. I was very small so I don't remember much about it but I remember that my grandpa was super angry and yelled to that motorbiker who never stopped to check on me. The first time I went to China, I didn't know about these things. In Nanjing I saw two kids singing through a small stereo system in the middle of a busy walkway. Obviously they were being forced to sing, they looked so sad. A man was hovering next to them, keeping an eye on the money they were collecting, and watching everyone around them very carefully. It felt wrong, but I was so unaware of the kidnapping problem I thought there was no way they would be using the kids like that. Obviously I don't know for sure, but it still haunts me to this day.

And it's bad enough when the kids were apart from people when grabbed... but to wrestle a child from the arms of a loved one? For them to go through their life wishing they had been stronger? I can't imagine... Definitely something people should watch- and definitely even if they have to skip ahead past the security cam footage...

For any Chinese concerned with losing face or respect over this, exposing a problem and working to solve it gains more respect in the eyes of much of the world. Everyplace has horrible criminals, in the west it is how we fight them that is important. In this case, never think of them as "someone else's" children t honk of them as "China's children." Elsewhere, any child in distress almost automatically becomes "our child" to be protected and I hope that is also the case in China!

I want to point out that there's a veiled arrogance and condescension in this comment that merely contributes to the very issue of pride that you are trying to assuage. The general intention displayed here seems to be well meaning, so I don't want to demonize you. I just want to point out that language like this, which could be labeled as microaggression, only exacerbates divides. Specifically, this "in the west, we do this" line of thinking comes off as acting superior, as if we don't have our own humanitarian crises. It also further makes the East seem like the classic "exotic Orient", as if it is so alien and foreign that universal concepts such as "kidnapping is bad" must be taught. Again, I know this was not meant to come off that way, but I found it to be a trigger as someone who has had to deal with identity struggles as a Chinese American. I hope this isn't taken as lecturing or condescending itself, just wanted to share the perspective.

Oh take that obnoxious word "microaggression" and throw it away. What it means is that someone had their itty bitty feelings hurt.Triggered ? Don't care, grow up. Erik is however naive. There is a problem involving many countries with child abuse networks. It involves the people at the top of society so it hits the news, maybe, then fades away. Some people are trying to fight it, lives have been threatened, but there is no big outrage from the public. We haven't solved this problem, we have it too.P.S. I don't know you but I hope you can stop thinking about "microaggressions" and being "triggered". Enjoy being an American and enjoy the food, celebrations and traditions that you like from your Chinese heritage. I am an American with Polish ancestry. Took what I liked of the Polish traditions and left the rest. I am an American and I get to enjoy some ethnic stuff. It's great. Microaggression and all those buzz words just cause division. E Pluibus Unum. Good luck and be happy with all that you are.

Xander Xue microaggression? Triggered? Time to grow the fuck up kiddo, and lose that bullshit baby victim language you learned in college. It doesn't mean shit except "I'm weak, please pick on me" in the real world. No one gives a fuck about your identity as a "Chinese-American" because you should just be an American if you're here.

If you see it please don't just let it happen "all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to stand by and do nothing" although the corruption is so thick it may inspire fear in you but you have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Another friend of my wife was shopping & 2 men grabbed her daughter & were heading out the store but a friend of hers recognized the girl & asked them what they where doing with her, they could not explain so she signalled store workers & the store went into “lock down mode” so the abductors could not leave & where caught & mother reunited with daughter. This also happened in Xian.

I have to give you props man, you tackled this subject very well, as you normally do. Succinct and straight up honesty, something I rarely feel from lamestream media. As a new subscriber I am glad I found you today, learning about Chinese culture from you is eye opening and sometimes a handful of grit in the eye too. The world is a beautiful and strange place but unfortunately most of it's occupants are selfish sickos with only their own desires to satisfy. Keep up the good work and stay frosty. You are the best presenter I have seen in a long time, respect. By the way if anyone tried to grab one of my kids, or even a strangers kid, in front of me it would be a bad day for everyone involved... Let's hope these families get the kids back and that the universe has a nasty shock for those that commit these atrocious acts.

I also almost got kidnapped at 10, it was the last day of school that year, I just received the reward for being one of the valedictorians that year (you need to get 10 on all of the subjects on the final exam) and an old lady riding on a bicycle asked if I needed a ride home, I immediately said no since I didn't know her then a small van crept up nearby blocking the sight of the pedestrian, then my dad came and picked me up and all of them scattered off, I didn't even notice I almost got kidnapped until I told my dad the story.
