i think one of the biggest problem with cheap monitors is that those stands on them are made out of thin paper
@yanagida_01

yeah, they literally screw in to the plastic instead of having a metal thread insert, so they strip really quick. though it's a good thing that good quality monitor arms come in cheap now, usually at around $15 to $20.

Yeah, that sucks a lot! I`ve been noticing that trend with cheapo panels last few years. Wobbly non-adjustable mess. I have Dell U2412M since 2015 (back then it cost me around $400 in europe) which is ancient by all modern metrics (i quite like 16:10 aspect ratio though, shame that died out) but it has ergonomically adjustable stand with height, swivel, tilt and pivot with steel base and all moving parts - still smooth with no creaks. Also I guess stand alone is double the weight of any of these monitors. Whole thing is almost 7 kg which is probably in line with 30" decent quality panels these days.

Part of why I like a lot of older Dell monitors, since those often had height adjustable, tilting AND rotating stands, meanwhile you'd be lucky to get any of those on most new cheap monitors, and the image quality isn't much better on those if at all usually.

I've been using Pixio monitors for years, and I've always been very happy with them. They are almost always the best bang for your buck with good image quality. I have the PX27 Prime now, and it's a 27" 1440p 165hz IPS panel, and 3 years ago I picked it up for $350 which at the time was the cheapest price for a monitor with those specs. It's still working perfectly as well
For anyone looking at cheap monitors, Do be aware that the biggest (in my experience doing repair work in the industry) factor is longevity. I've seen a LOT of dirt cheap monitors have either REALLY bad coil whine straight out of the box, or straight up blown caps within a few months. While they are simple repairs, you don't want to be fixing something you just bought. Look into the brand your buying for some long term reviews if you can

The thing about Pixio is that a couple of years down the line the model you bought will be well out of production and you will have zero support, spare parts, etc. On the other hand you can figure out what panel is in the thing and find a cracked monitor with a compatible driver board pretty easily if you need one. And if you hit this point, I implore you, buy a new equivalent monitor if you can, and use the Pixio repair as a secondary. If you can afford it it's the right way to go.

Oof. 11:12 the Kurooi E4's white point at 8300k combined with the terrible blurring issues would make that a headache-inducing nightmare to use. I'd be curious to know the backlight PWM frequency at various brightness levels, which could definitely make that even worse.
Sansui was a major brand offering high quality audio gear (especially amps) back in the 70s and 80s. The company went out of business in 2004 and now exists in name only on fairly generic electronics products.
I love that Sansui has been using the same logo for like over 30 years, we have a old Sansui DVD player from 2002 and it has the same logo

It's not the same company. Much like the Westinghouse and Bell+Howell crap, some Chinese conglomerate bought up the brand after it went out of business in 2014, and uses it to dupe people who trusted the name in the past.
11:16 no wonder only the Pixio looked right, it's the only one that tracked to 2.2 gamma. This is HUGELY important to image quality and I wish you'd spent more time (and shown the measurements in closer detail) on it.
The “rubbing gasoline into my eyes” got me so good. Jeeeezis Christ, Dawid. I love you.
Ouuuh a Koorui, we actually have quite the variety here in Indonesia, they also have a variant with 4+ colours including Pink and Green.
Your commentary is hilarious!
I got a rebranded Pixio PX275h (Electriq) for cheap, like £60. It was a huge upgrade from my almost decade old LG monitor and 1440/95 seems to be a good balance for my 3060 in most games
I LOVE the face you make on your video thumbnails
So, in 2017 I bought a LG 23MP68VQ 23 (amazing name) ips, 75hz, an okay stand (but had vesa) and it was used for like 4 years as a main display and still used daily as a secondary. I paid £135 for it back then and it just doesn't seem that monitors at that price range have changed at all. I know a friend also got one a few years later then me for £115.
I agree, don't cheap out on your display but wait for a sale. I have a curved 24" 1080p 165hz panel from MSI of all companies and I was stunned at how good it looks, definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
Sansui makes me think of Grandad's old stereo from the 80s!
Cool video. Thanks
Thanks I been looking some to do this review. Every other channel just do 500 $ plus monitor reviews
Your commentary is fekkn amazing
I have a 31 inch 1500R pixio and I love it.
Thank you for adding me on the Patreons list :)
When buying a budget secondary monitor, the problem I ran into was that most stands do not allow for vertical orientation. I ended up paying an extra $40 for a vertically capable stand over the horizontal-only version of the same monitor. But it was worth it.
Hey Dawid, try buying a pc crt (a semi decent one) and compare it to one of these budget monitors. That would be interesting!
It would be great to see you do a review on the LG Ultragear 32gn63t-b
