How Are Your Symptoms Protecting You? - A Christian Somatic Meditation for Chronic Pain

Our fears give us a false and temporary sense of safety, but in reality keep us in a state of tension. True emotional & mental safety comes from somewhere else. This meditation can help identify the source of your fear, the function (what emotional experience it's protecting you from) and what beliefs are at the root of it. In this meditation, we listen. Let me say that again, we listen. Some people call this parts work. There is a part of you carrying this burden or this fear, but it is not all of you. And it is probably not how God wants you live. In this practice, we are going to get in touch with that part of you that is carrying this fear and ask if there is anything you can do while Grouded In Christ, to help it cast off this fear/ burden.
1. Identify Discomfort in Body
2. Identify Fear/ distress underneath the sensation.
3. Feel for the original source (story) behind this pain.
4. Listen to the part of you carrying this burden.
5. Ask what mindset, beliefs need changing for true relief.
6. Turn to the Lord to affirm this and ask for additional truth.
7. Speak this truth to the part of you carrying this fear.

    Thank you for posting this meditation. It is marvellous to ask for God's help in understanding why we carry pain. Even better when the revelation comes that Jesus is the burden bearer, not us. Thank you again Jen.

    Thanks for posting this. I know I need to come to God / Jesus for strength. Recently just before I found your videos I met with a friend who is a Christian who encouraged me to develop a relationship with God. I was always searching for the Lord but never felt I had a relationship with him. But this TMS has brought me to my knees. I know I need God in my life. How amazing that after all this time of suffering chronic pain, I found your videos just after beginning to pray daily to God / Jesus. I think it might be a sign. Do you offer coaching? ❤
