I just repaired my second tv that was destined for the landfill. A friend told me his LG tv was “flashing on half of the screen and dark on the other half. He gave it to me and I replaced the led backlights and it works perfectly. Thanks for the great content!

So I recently came across a hisense flat screen tv. It was left in the apartment I just moved into. If I had to guess I'd say its a 70 inch tv. Although the tv was here there was no power cable or remote. I ordered some power cable off amazon just by looking at the port on the back. Now when I attempt to turn the tv on I get the hisense splash screen for just a moment and the tv will turn back off. I did notice that the right side of the screen looks like possibly the backlight leds are not working. Do you think this is a TCON issue or a backlight issue? In either case do you think the tv is repairable?

Hi. Thanks for your great videos. I have a 4 year old Sony kd-55x9000f that developed problems & stopped working shortly after a power outage. When the power came back on, it started up but froze after performing a few basic initial menu functions. Over several unsuccessful attempts to get it running better by trying to clear caches etc (but being interrupted by freezes) I went through the Sony troubleshooting process, including a manual power button reset. After that, the TV would not turn on at all (no backlight). I'm hoping that these symptoms are something you recognize so that maybe you could give me a solid hint as to where I should start to attempt to fix this.

Thanks for watching! Did you see the video on what to check after a power surge? You should be able to narrow down the problem to the power supply or main board.

Those models are known for eMMC failures. Not worth repairing.

Hey Reese! Thanks for posting these videos, they have been a huge help! I have an issue that I haven't seen but one video on and it's in Indonesian (which I don't speak;), but I did watch. I have horizontal lines that scroll vertically for three seconds, then clear picture for 2-3 seconds. I have ordered a new T-con, but it's coming from china and will take about a month to get here. T-con is a 55T32-COF, I have identified on the board on one side the "clk 1 and 2" but no idea which pins they might be. TV is a 50" Sony, but that T-con is used in several other brands. Any ideas? Thx!

The only way is to replace the lcd screen which is almost always not an option because a replacement screen is difficult to find and if you could get one, it’s not cost effective. The only time I’ve done screen swaps is when one tv has a bad backlight but good screen and the other tv (same model) is the one with the broken screen.
