How AI Could Empower Any Business | Andrew Ng | TED
Ғылым және технология
Expensive to build and often needing highly skilled engineers to maintain, artificial intelligence systems generally only pay off for large tech companies with vast amounts of data. But what if your local pizza shop could use AI to predict which flavor would sell best each day of the week? Andrew Ng shares a vision for democratizing access to AI, empowering any business to make decisions that will increase their profit and productivity. Learn how we could build a richer society - all with just a few self-provided data points.

I remember wathcing his lectures and in them he say: "this is just the derivative, don't worry if you don't know what it is." and I was like what? don't worry? go learn calculus then come back for this. So, from more than a decade ago, he was pushing so hard to popularize and democratize AI.

Andrew Ng never gets enough credit for the advances in AI over the years, but his push for making this revolutionary technology available to as many people as possible (first AI course available free on the internet!) and encouraging collaboration without care of political borders or academic paywalls has arguably done more for the field than any singularly developed algorithm has.

Wow, I was kind of in awe when I saw Andrew Ng's name show up in my KZread feed. He's such a dominant researcher for anyone studying Machine Learning, you wind up devoting a lot of time learning his work. People respect him so much his opinions towards Computer Sciences practices, or matters such as the Ethics of AI, are never ignored.

I think AI's application is not just limited to solving business problems but can be used to solve societal problems at large and minimize human suffering. Professor Andrew NG, by making his Stanford ML/AI lectures available for free on internet, has done a great service to the education field and ML/AI community, and to Humanity at large. I salute you, sir.

We often hear that AI automates things. But the real goal for AI could be to empower all those small business owners to leverage data to improve their businesses. This talk really inspires anyone to pursue AI to create an impact on the society.

That first minute pitch is just spot on mind blowing 💯
@renanboucard2729
2 ай бұрын
This first-minute pitch is kind of inaccurate. Literacy has been an effort led by the Church in medieval Western Europe, i.e. it was mandatory for a priest with more than 5 households in charge to organise education of children. On the contrary, productivists of the Enlightenment era and later industrial revolutions were indeed more keen in receiving labor for the fields rather than educated people. Big debate around this to be had... but M. Ng is not the only one with such misconceptions. However the talk is interesting for the conclusions it draws: AI is a new tool just like most others, and it needs to be harnessed by all sizes of businesses.
Happy that Andrew showed JavaScript as an example of code at 06:59. In fact that's the only code example in this entire video of AI. Fascinating.
Democratization of AI - That's such a different perspective focusing on social equality. Dear Mr. Andrew, you are a genius and empathetic thought leader. Your contribution to the field of AI and ML is so remarkable. Much love and respect.
Excellent synthesis. Very apt analogies. Looking at the tail end of the graph, I was reminded of the book "Fortune at the bottom of the Pyramid". He has become synonymous with AI and particularly ML.
very inspiring as always. Thanks Andrew!
This is what true educator looks like. the power to spread curiosity among listener using speech. After hearing this talk, it makes me wonder on how powerful AI could be if public masses start adopting it.
I am proud that Andrew Ng taught me machine learning on Coursera am yet to meet another good tutor like him.
As an entrepreneur, it's crucial to understand the potential of AI and how it can be applied to your business. From automating repetitive tasks to analyzing data and providing personalized experiences, AI can help businesses to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and drive growth. But it's not just about the technology; it's about being open to new ways of doing things, rethinking your business models, and finding new ways to create value for your customers.

Everybody knows the contributions of People like Sam Altman in the field of AI and ML . BUT every Machine Learning Student knows the legacy of Andrew Ng. He is the one who brought revolution in Education of AI . His Contributions are just priceless.
Since I was a kid, I've loved tech for the simplicity and power of its purpose. It always fascinates me how new ideas are bearing fruit and along the way I'm coming up with ideas that others are also having and bringing into the world. I'm very proud to have thought about the same things as many bright innovators in the industry! (One of the crazy ideas I've had since I was a kid was a fingerprint scanner under the whole screen for theft prevention and real 3D 'TVs' where magnets would allign themselves into the shape of a 3D scanned object and a projector projecting the correct lights onto that object simultaneously - A bit like the nanobots from Big Hero 6).
Good insights that makes you think just how much there is to cover in and by AI
Thank you a lot, Andrew!

incredible. I do agree with him that democratizing the access of AI will change a lot of stuff. Great talk!!
It sounds great that we are thinking about building AI system for every individual to make their life more efficient and valuable. The way AI has impacted the whole industry is tremendous. It makes me amazed when I see the impact it's generating.
The tech imporvement can be more amazing than our intuition. I really think what Andrew describe can come true in the near future. Think about the difference between python/java code and assembly code, which was used only several decades ago. Dacades later, kids might feel the code we use today is as ridiculous as assembly code. At that time, using AI might be as easy as using internet, which was like fantasy in last century. BTW, anybody who has math basis are really recommended to watch this man's course. I can't find a word to describe the passion and I got from it!!!
You just motivated many of us to start an AI+ML as a service/ subscription company for small businesses. This is really an interesting idea.

很巧妙的对比,很精彩的故事
When I studied statistics all of us students were confused about the difference between probability and likelihood. The question was raised multiple times with the professor, without satisfaction. Then I see Andrew Ng get the same question and Hallelujah: "Probability of the data, likelyhood of the estimator." Brillantly clear.
Interesting and great presentation, so much so that I would be interested in learning how to set up AI manage data and also forecast future occurrences. in 2024 is there a way for small entrepreneurs to structure AI ? anyway well done
My mind can barely comprehend the impact that this will have on SMBs. I'm very excited. I can't wait to work on this. Does anyone know which existing platforms he's referring to in this? I could see many companies cropping up that would offer a service of configuring these AI systems for a fee to SMBs. This could solve many problems and help people on the front lines of many different jobs! But, of course, those must be some very generalized models.
