How Accurate are Dinosaur King's "SECRET" & "MOVE CARD" Dinosaurs?

Ойын-сауық

13+ Viewers only.
Dinosaur King's Secret Element consists of a handful of random species from all over the Dinosaur Family tree. Likewise, the species featured in the franchise's signature "Move Cards" also feature a great variety of species, some of which are not even Dinosaurs! How do these models from the mid-late 2000s hold up against modern science?

All this information will undoubtedly be *extremely* helpful in (re)creating the Dinosaur King models, incorporating the latest paleontological discoveries. We aim to introduce many familiar, as well as some unfamiliar, dinosaurs from this franchise and cannot wait to share more of our designs and the fan-game itself! Thanks for the mention, Hodge! 👑

Small note here: Ophthalmosaurus were not actually toothless as adults, the teeth were simply very small, and in most specimens, they simply fell out after decomposition Well-preserved Ophthalmosaurus specimens and those of close relatives clearly show rows of pointed teeth in the jaws, which wouldve been a great benefit to hunting large fish and squid

29:00 Brontikens is a brontosaurus. In the Japanese dub, at the end of every episode, there’s a thing called “Dinosaur Scan Corner” where the D-Team talks about the dinosaur of the episode in an educational format. In Brontikens’s Dinosaur Scan Corner, Zoe mentions that the genus was formerly known as “brontosaurus”, so this is definitely meant to represent what was formerly known as A. excelsus.

Megalosaurus was the first named Dinosaur, incredibly important to the history of palaeontology, so it makes sense for Secret, the Gravity/Telekinesis ability is weird, I don’t get that. Deinonychus, like Megalosaurus one of the most important Dinosaurs in palaeontology, & the theming makes sense, ninja’s/team work since Deinonychus is the pack hunting Dromaeosaur. Brontosaurus, the most iconic Sauropod, its name means Thunder Lizard so no brainer it’s themed around lightning & thunder but obviously it can’t go in the lightning element because it’s not a Ceratopsian. Cryolophosaurus, themed around Ice makes sense given its name & it lived in Antartica. Therizinosaurus, I mean it’s claws, easy theming, plus it’s so weird looking as well, it can’t go into Fire. Pachycephalosaurs, another weird looking Dino, theming it around Light is odd but I kind of get it, giving the dome head, it’s defining feature significance. Eoraptor, one of the earliest know Dinosaurs, themed around evolution, makes sense. Pawpawsaurus, theme around love/protection… I don’t get it?

@@SmashBrosAssemble . true, but so is Iguanadon, and he's justa regular Grass type, i do like him being secret and gravity fits since the gravity of what came after Megalosaurus's discovery is INSANE . i get the idea of pack hunting but my 1 gripe is that, that there is no evidence of pack hunting in Dromaeosaurs, it's more of a pop culture thing, which is fine still . it having thunder i always loved felt more like raw electricity rather than the usual weapon forged out of lightning that the Ceratopsids go for . checks out, plus even the move card that heals has an aurora effect, so it works . apparently in an online game it WAS a fire, which makes things interesting, odds are though, i can see it like Velociraptor as a none elemental type, since Segnosaurus is also a none element summon . my logic for light was since it's a Margocephalian and the Ceratopsians are LightNING, it makes sense to be light when thought of this way . awesome idea, love it, i like how it only forms into the 2nd strongest of each type too, cute detail . the reason is sicne the move card was it taking the bullet for you, so the type being family love is that they are all protecting each other now

Great video as always! I was extremely excited for to discuss these guys the secret dinos seems to follow the theme of other being to weird or being some what Paleo to paelontologically significant like: Cryo being a dinosaur from Antarctica Megalo being the furst dinosaur Eoraptor was believed too be the ancestor of dinosaurs Ecc ecc The only out lier is probably pawpawsaurus cause it's only there do being a complete skull (if dk was made today it would have been borealpelta or pinaco tbh) But i did notice some stuff abd wanted to say 1. Cryp has two completely different models for dinosaur king the move card has a bigger head and scrawny body meanwhile the card dino is more uniform over all 2. We know what type most of the secrets would probably be via the code for some and for other we can tell from arcade anims (theri/segno are fire do to being big theropods, pachy is lighting cause it's a macrocephalian, cryo and eoraptor are wind do to they're arcade rig, megalo is fire do to it's arcade rig, armor brontokins is water so secret brontosaurus would follow suit ecc ecc) 3. 37:23 no, it isn't there literally a whole doreamon movie about the creature yeah.... But dk's probably the most popular in the west (it also uses carnivores 2/zoo tycoon t.rex sounds) 4. The ornithominds have mowkaws of feathers my guy. Apart from that this series was a banger! Even as long time i really wanted see a series like this in a more different form but this is amazing aswell! This series (both the original and your analysis) were great, excellent for dino nerds like me. I had no idea Microraptor was in the franchise! Another thing I found is that there seems to have been plans for Muyelensaurus of all things to be added to the series, however I couldn't find any concept art. The only source I know of is the Dinosaur King Wiki page for the group Aeolosauridae.

I just imagine making (well, someone else, not me) something much like Dinosaur King but being a stickler for fossil accuracy (like limb proportion and skull shape), making the more updated models into superpowered anime fighters to get them more mainstream acceptance. Then I wonder if the graphics engine on such a game could handle the feather textures of theropods and realize I have no idea how powerful game-sized graphics engines are today.

I'd play that, would love to see them make the (AS OF THIS COMMENT) accurate Spinosaurus in these games As fore the engine, could just just stick with think kind of art style, less strain on the machine and probably ends up looking better than hyper realistic feathery coats

@@evodolka Better yet, make several variant models of unclear species like Spinosaurus (or individually diverse ceratopsids, etc.) just to cover all bases and in-game blame poor fossils on the wonky revivals. And feathers could probably just be limited to a thin clear layer coming off the arms with top and bottom wing patterns, the key is to look good at a distance.

I actually have a concept like that called March of the Dinosaurs, it's set in an all-girls college and the evil faction is a quartet of sorority sisters bent on using the creatures' powers for world domination, while the leader of the good faction believes that the creatures might hold the key to finding out what happened to her older sister. The creatures, meanwhile, are sapient but can't speak English and wish to be free from the devices that control them.

Science doesn't care if you think the accurate names are dorky. If the cool name can't be applied to something that everyone can agree is clearly its own thing, then the cool name has to be dropped. If we let personal emotional biases get in the way of data analysis we'd never get anything done.
