You don't like abortions? Be pro sexual education. Be pro contraception. Be pro supporting young mothers. Be pro social security. Be pro better and affordable childcare. Banning abortions will only push them into the back alley again and cost millions of lives. It will NOT abolish them.

@@FilmSureelist97 Absolutely, but it's going to be women and young people overall who will really determine the outcome in November. Trump's movement is a minority in this country, but they are an extremely loyal, even fanatical support base. They will come out to vote if they have to crawl through freezing rain on broken wrists. They win because they turn out, and we, far more often than not, do not. Ever since the end of the Vietnam War and certainly Roe, Democrats stopped caring and voting. They figured court decisions like Roe and Obergefell meant that history had been decided once and for all in favor of progressive ideals. The right wing meantime showed up in some way every single day of the last 45 years or so. The one thing they, and especially the fascists elements have always understood is that there are no unimportant fights on any fronts. Every day you fail to turn up at the election booths, in the institutions, in the media, in the courts, in the streets, is a day you cede ground to the opposition. I have real concerns that Trump could win this time, not because he's picked up any new voters, but because a lot of young progressives are talking about staying home to "punish" Joe for his handling of Gaza and other issues they care about. That is precisely how Trump won the first time.

There are maternity homes on or near college campuses across the country so women who are pregnant have a safe and comfortable place to live and get support throughout their pregnancy and beyond. There are millions of families waiting to adopt children. Regardless, killing is never ok. We don’t just let people live based on what we expect their quality of life to be. @@user-rg1hw8he8s There are so many children in the foster care system that never get adopted because parents only want "clean slate" babies. This is why adoption is a for-profit industry and only RICH people get to spend the money to adopt those infants. AND majority of abortions are done by women who are already mothers and can't afford to take care of another child. Do you think they can afford the cost and stress of carrying that child in their body and then deal with the emotional stress of giving that child to someone else? If we abort a grouping of cells when it can't live outside of the womb before it develops into a "baby" and it costs significantly less for the individual and the system as a whole, don't you think that would be the smarter choice? It can also be a kind act, with an outcome that saves more life in the end. A person who can perform surgery can save many lives with their body this year, but not while not working or on bedrest for a pregnancy. The one or two saved by their uterus is not more than the lives saved with their body while still being able to work, not pregnant with morning sickness or limited with special dietary needs. How many teachers prevent the unthinkable just because they choose not to go on maternity leave when our children rely on their stability and routines to grow with confidence? That's 30 kids in a classroom, one or two kids in the womb. 30 is greater than 2. That teacher might be the next savior of 30 kids in an emergency. We can not predict the net good abortion provides the "lifetally". Therein lies the issue. We are all doing what we believe saves the most life that we believe we are capable of without dmging or ending us. Not trusting eachother, that we're all trying our dangdest, is the real issue here. Yes dangdest should be a word if it's not pls help me find the right one.

I read your comment, and I gotta say I think you're just one of the people who is misinformed. The only people pushing parenthood on people that aren't ready to be parents are the 2 people who are committing the sexual act. Nobody made them go to bed. No one made them get undressed. No one made them lay together. No one made them have intercourse. All the law is doing is making people be responsible for what they are doing. If you don't want a baby, don't have intercourse. If you don't want a baby use birth control. If you don't want a baby don't go to bed with a man. It's that damn simple. And when you tell people to mind their own effing business, it is my business. When my tax dollar goes to support these children that are given up for adoption, or supporting mothers without fathers who have babies, it is my business. Personally, we need to go back, way back to the time when if a couple wanted to get married, it had to be approved by the town because the town didn't want to have to support the couple.Same thing with the child. They had to get permission to have a child because the town did not want to support the child. It's not the town's responsibility. The bottom line is is we are no longer allowing irresponsible young people to use abortion as a means of birth control.

They did not ask to have intercourse. Those women did not ask to get pregnant. So no, it is not that simple. Adoption has become more expensive over the years, as it requires attorneys, social workers, counselors, etc. Not to mention it can be a long process. If the process could be streamlined and made less expensive, then more children could be adopted. If couples need permission to get married or even have a child, you might as well say that they need permission to even have sex. It is unreasonable and something nearly everyone would be against.

I'm sorry I didn't read your comment more carefully The trauma you're referring to is not the SA (not saying you're denying that at all, just clarifying what you actually were referring to in our first comment). Glad we agree abortion doesn't help with the SA though. Is it physically possible? Yes, but I doubt for most girls that age. I think it happens, but certainly not the norm. But I think we can agree that if the girl's life is in danger, an abortion is probably appropriate (seems like the laws are unclear on that point, but I want to say most people agree on that). The second meaning- the one I'm thinking you are really asking, is whether it's appropriate for a girl that age to undergo trauma of a pregnancy. I think the answer is no. I'm pretty sure most people in or out the pro-life movement would agree that pregnancy at that age is not appropriate, due to the immaturity of the a girl's body/mind at that age. But it happens, as much as our country creates laws to discourage it. In this case because a stepfather repeatedly raped his stepdaughter. So, it was even against the will of the twelve year old girl, if a twelve year old girl can even be said to have a will about these things. Absolutely horrific. I've not experienced anything close to it, so I won't even pretend to understand it on an emotional level. I guess that's where our agreement ends though. Because when I weigh the trauma of a twelve-year old girl enduring a pregnancy after having this occur to her against ending the life of a baby (assuming it's possible for her to carry the baby to term and deliver without she or the baby dying), I don't comprehend how the former tips the scales. Like there's a mental switch that won't flip for me.

Yes I am. That’s why pro life pregnancy centers exists. To help women by supporting them through their pregnancy and after. It’s why I donate all of my maternity clothes, baby clothes, breast pump, diapers, formula nursing supplies, nursing clothes and baby items to centers like these and homeless shelters. It’s why I donate to food pantries that serve the community which includes women with children. Not to mention there are maternity homes that give pregnant women safe and comfortable homes during their pregnancy and beyond. They can even be found on some college campuses across the country. It’s all completely free. There are 3000 pregnancy centers across the country. Some of them get vandalized by pro choice supporters because they hate the fact that women are being helped and encouraged to keep their babies. In contrast, there are only 600 Planned Parenthood centers in the US.

My biggest concerns are what happens to the women and their children in the near future and women that go through a pregnancy because they are forced to. That is a form of slavery. Abortion needs to remain a safe and legal option. In the past, before 1973 when abortion was not legal women often became victims of back street abortionists. Then you have a pregnant woman that dies along with her unborn baby and then possibly her other children now without their mother and at the mercy of an abusive father or the foster system.

Over the last 25 years, more than 50 countries have changed their laws to allow for greater access to abortion, at times recognizing the vital role that access to safe abortion plays in protecting women’s lives and health. Ireland joined that list on 25 May 2018 when, in a long-awaited referendum, its people voted overwhelmingly to repeal the near-total constitutional ban on abortion. Despite the trend towards reforming laws to prevent deaths and injuries, some countries, including Nicaragua and El Salvador, maintain draconian and discriminatory laws that still ban abortion in virtually all circumstances. In fact, according to the WHO, across the globe 40% of women of childbearing age live in countries with highly restrictive abortion laws, or where abortion is legal, is neither available or accessible. In these states, abortion is banned or only permitted in highly restricted circumstances, or if legal, is not accessible due to multiple barriers to access in practice. Even in states with broader access to legal abortion, pregnant individuals can still face multiple restrictions on and barriers to access to services such as cost, biased counselling, mandatory waiting periods. The WHO has issued technical guidance for states on the need to identify and remove such barriers. Criminalising or restricting abortion prevents doctors from providing basic care Criminalisation and restrictive laws on abortion prevent health-care providers from doing their job properly and from providing the best care options for their patients, in line with good medical practice and their professional ethical responsibilities. Criminalisation of abortion results in a “chilling effect”, whereby medical professionals may not understand the bounds of the law or may apply the restrictions in a narrower way than required by the law. This may be because of a number of reasons, including personal beliefs, stigma about abortion, negative stereotypes about women and girls, or the fear of criminal liability. It also deters women and girls from seeking post-abortion care for complications due to unsafe abortion or other pregnancy related complications. Claire Malone, a young woman from Ireland, who already had two children, shared her harrowing testimony with Amnesty International Ireland of how her right to health was undermined by not being able to access an abortion due to the country’s strict abortion laws. Claire has a number of complex and life-threatening health conditions, including pulmonary atresia and pulmonary hypertension and had her lung removed in 2014. If women with pulmonary hypertension become pregnant, they are at high risk of becoming even more gravely ill or dying in pregnancy. Claire knows this, which is what led her to seek a termination, a request that was denied by her doctors because the law prevented them from doing so. “My doctors said they couldn’t offer a termination as my life wasn’t at risk right now, and that was it. I know they are bound by the law. But I felt like if I waited until my health got so bad that I could die, then it would be too late by then anyway. And why is a risk to my health, as bad as it already was, not enough? How much do I have to go through before my doctors are allowed to treat me?” The committee for the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW, or the Treaty for the Rights of Women), has consistently stated that restrictive abortion laws constitute discrimination against women. This applies to all women and people who can become pregnant, as the CEDAW Committee has confirmed that CEDAW’s protections, and states’ related obligations, apply to all women and therefore include discrimination against women who are lesbians, bisexual, and/or transgender, particularly given the specific forms of gendered discrimination they face. Secondly, stigma around abortion and gender stereotyping is closely linked to the criminalisation of abortion and other restrictive abortion laws and policies. The mere perception that abortion is unlawful or immoral leads to the stigmatization of women and girls by health care staff, family members, and the judiciary, among others. Consequently, women and girls seeking abortion risk discrimination and harassment. Some women have reported being abused and shamed by health care providers when seeking abortion services or post-abortion care.

Not surprised that this piece was heavily pro-abortion. Someday the world will come to understand that abortion (the intentional killing of an innocent human) is evil, but until then, we'll keep speaking out against it. Good job, Morgan and Kristan!

Whats evil is bringing a child into this world to suffer. I am so glad abortions won in Ohio.

Embryos, zygotes, and fetuses are not babies or children. You can put an embryo in the freezer, you can't put a baby in the freezer. The life and rights of the pregnant person is more important than the life of the embryo, zygote, or fetus. People like you are dangerous to actual babies and children.

Rape? Complications? Non-viable pregnancy? Vote for protecting planned parenthood for women to have access to contraception. I hope you have never pressured a woman or pleaded to have sex with her.

It’s amazing to me that people will just put out on the internet that they don’t know where a vagina is on a woman’s body.

Tell me you don't know anything about female anatomy without saying "I don't know anything about woman's anatomy." Newsflash: A woman's lady bits are still exposed when their legs are closed.
