And who is paying to help her raise that baby now? Her attacker is exactly where he deserves to be, but behind bars he obviously has zero income to provide child support. So who is supporting her baby(besides her mother)??? I'm willing to bet all those same lawmakers who wanted to force her to give birth to this baby are also denying her government assistance. Each of those lawmakers should be contributing from THEIR paycheck to support this baby. I'm so frustrated that this can happen in our country.

Many doctors did when Roe was overturned and abortion restrictions became worse than they already were. Their hands are tied. They spoke out, sent letters to politicians, spoke at Congressional hearings and other things. Nothing mattered. I blame Democrats for this. They had decades to codify Roe but did nothing. Women are losing rights that took decades to win every day. We don't even have safe spaces anymore. Title 9 is basically irrelevant now. Society is moving backwards. It is extremely upsetting.

No one in the pro-life party is talking about the effect of rape on the baby forced to be born via epigenetics or trauma that the mother experienced

My friend just found out that he was a product of rape. the pain in his eyes and voice talking about it and realizing why he was treated so badly by his mom. He is the most loving young man in spite of this.

How about we prioritize treating the pain of those who are born (especially 12 year olds who just got raped) over a clump of cells? That's why Mississippi is one of the poorest and crime stricken states in the country, if not the #1 state for crime and it's a deep red state. Republicans keep on wanting to make crime a Democrat issue, rather than solving the issue itself and making it better. I wonder how voters there keep voting for the same thing or the Republicans there gerrymander to make sure they win every election. Also, SOME pro lifers only care bout abortion only because it's "wrong", but no love or compassion towards the situation the person(s) might be facing. It's always a family's choice to conceive a baby, don't need government intervention, or other people messing with families or individual livelihoods...And when most developed countries already have legalized abortions (also have universal health care) and US is the only country that wants to go backwards (and not just on abortion issue). it is sad (and writing this at 6 in the morning)

I know you mean well but Ashley’s mom is struggling. The strong trope for Black women is more harmful than good. Imagine you’re Ashley’s mom and what people say to you is how strong you are. It reduces your humanity and ignores how incredibly difficult of a time she’s having. Most times it’s not even strength it’s people dissociating to make it through. It’s people who are on autopilot as a trauma response.

This is so cruel - putting a child through this is absolutely abuse. Wouldn't CPS step in if a child was going through equivalent trauma in the home? It's incredibly hard to have a baby for those who are adults and chose to be pregnant - and I can't believe this is expected of a disabled child who was raped.

No. I know in NYS they've opened up housing where underage girls in forster care can have their babies and they'll pay for almost everything. The sad part is though that they allow the girls to have MORE kids. I lived at a placement like that and girls who started with one kid would end up with 2 0r 3 before they were 18. There was no true initiative to say "hey, this happened once let's stop it from happening again". Nope, men could come and visit daily, have sex and make babies with any one of us. We lived in a gated community and had our own little apartments but couldn't be accessed unless you came to the front desk & were buzzed into the community. So everyone coming in had to sign and give their i.d girls aged from 16-21 lived there. I remember the one girl had her second son with a man who was 40yrs old while she was there. They allowed him to come.in visit, and clearly have sex and get her pregnant there. I didn't have a kid, I instead had a fellow foster kid as a roommate. NYS raised me to 21, I'm almost 30 now and still don't understand some a the things that went on. All the places are still open 🤦🤷 idk

So fucking heartbreaking. So unfair to subject a child and multiple generations to a way of life that they have not chosen for themselves. All people who are able to get pregnant should have access to a safe abortion, especially under circumstances like rape AND for CHILDREN. SOBEYOND FUCKED UP! From what I gathered from the video, the mother did not know about the assault until several weeks after it happened. So much too late for a morning after pill.

When I was 17 years old, my ex was physically and emotionally abusive, and I found myself pregnant. I tried to escape, and I never reported him because I was TERRIFIED! I tried to cause an abortion at home, but I almost caused myself to die! I was willing to risk my own life to end an unwanted pregnancy and any reminder of him! It didn’t work, and I ended up trying to find a place in Florida who could provide an abortion. I needed my parents permission, so I reluctantly and unbelievably still in shock, told my parents. They allowed me to choose what I wanted to do, and I fortunately escaped the abuse! I soon met my husband not long after and we have beautiful children together many, many years later! I graduated university several times, and we have a beautiful life!

I'm happy for you. I hope your story inspires others to speak to their parents. I grew up in an abusive house and my mother could not escape my father. I was in several shelters as a child with other women and children hiding from dangerous men. You did the right thing! I'm glad to be alive today but the first 18 years of my life was hell!!!

My own granddaughter had similar story was held captive and beat up with broken nose…but her nose couldn’t be repaired as it was discovered she was pregnant and needed to be put to sleep. She was able to get the abortion and friend that held her captive went to prison! It is insane what is happening to the choice for women and their bodies? And I noticed the religious people are not taking a stand for the babies and children slaughtered and starving in Gaza! They support the end times, over women’s rights!

This is what family planning is all about. Choosing when and with whom you want to have children. It’s the best way to create stable happy families. Republicans want to continue the cycle of abuse and family trauma. They’re unable to place themselves in someone else’s shoes or understand that their worldview is not everyone else’s reality. Especially Republican men, who will never have to experience pregnancy or childbirth, but think they know what’s best for all women. I also got pregnant at a young age and completely understand how terrifying and traumatic it can be. I’m glad you were able to get the care you needed and that you went on to have a happy family on your own terms ❤️

As a mom of 8, I have always been pro life. HOWEVER, That is a woman's personal choice. In the instance of rape or incest, there should NEVER be a question that women have the right to terminate! As a resident of Texas for over 20 years, but now living in my birth state. I would move my family away before forcing my daughters to go through a state forced pregnancy!!!! Shame on you Texas legislature and all other states forcing women to have babies forced on them. I would hope those legislators never have to make that decision based on a rape of their own daughters! I'm quite sure the answers would be different.

I was molested by my own father and then gang graped twice when I was 14 and 15. Then I was r@ped again when I was 16 and s3x trafficked. I then met my ex husband who did the same thing to me for 20 years. I got no help from the police, judges, CPS or the justice system. Now I am raising four children alone. Child r@pe is extremely common.

It's possible because there's hardly repercussions for it. My autistic daughter was SA by a family member and it was reported to police, county human services, etc. The perpetrator went to treatment, but in part due to his mental illness, he then went on to receive county and state supports to help him reach his potential. He honestly ended up much better off for it. My little girl received counseling, but it won't ever undo what happened.

In my state, daycare costs at a minimum 25k per year per child. On top of housing, medical and food, the state should pay the mother a livable wage to either stay home with the child or pay for quality daycare. And the state should have to pay for college education, clothes, school field trips, etc.
