How a simple home putting drill has shaved 5 strokes off my game

Спорт

Welcome to week 49 of my Journey to Scratch!
In this video I go over the putting drill that I practice the most for my golf game. It is a drill I came up with when realizing that I was really struggling to start the ball on line.

If you want to get super technical with the aim, you can turn this into a pool style variation where you move the target ball with the “cue” ball towards a target.

Hi Ernie! Great way to practice and brilliant using that type of rug. A long time ago I went to the rug store and asked the eager sales person for a rug that rolls well (had a golf ball with me to test with). At first they thought I was crazy but ended up having two other associates helping, testing lots of rugs and carpets and were really getting into it (slow day in the store). Fun time. After about an hour ended up with a 20x12 piece of indoor/outdoor that roll about a 10 with almost no grain. Perfect. I used that thing for years. Congrats on all your progress!

Jeff, that may be the coolest story I’ve heard on my channel! I freaking love that! I may need to go to a rug store and do this myself 🤣

Did a putter fitting and it’s made a huge difference in my confidence..I am making more 3 ft putts when I learned was cutting across the ball subtly but enough to miss

I like this drill for home practice. On the practice green I do short putts to a hole. Lag putts go to a tee in the green so I’m not practicing “missing” a putt to the hole. Strictly line and distance control. Has helped my putting. 👍🏻

Oh I like that for lag putting! Do you play a game at all or just hit putts from different distances/areas of the green?

@@ErndogGolf I keep score if the green isn’t too busy. 2 points if I hit the tee, 1 point if I can 2 put. Change distances and lines to do uphill, downhill, right to left, etc

I really think putting mats are hurting a ton of people. Especially the elevated ones. Having a hole also robs you of seeing where your ball stops. Have to be able to see it go past the hole, and be able to stop the ball at a certain area.
