How a Cabot 1911 is Made with Matt Dirito

Комедия

Come take a short tour of the Cabot Guns machine shop where our 1911s start as US sourced billet steel and are turned into the finest pistols on the planet. Our commitment to US manufacturing is unparalleled and that is why we start from billet to build our guns. Could we outsource our frame and slide production to save money? Sure we could, but most 1911 frames and slides are made from forgings or castings that come from other countries and we wouldn't feel right claiming our guns are Made in the USA if it really means they are "assembled" in the USA.
Matt Diritio has been an excellent addition to our team and our employees are continuing to be the lynchpin of our success.

Really funny to see HAAS machines in every shop whenever I watch gun and knife videos like this. My dad has worked for Gene Haas for almost 30 years and he’s a director level employee today. Cool to see cause I never knew what HAAS was as a kid.

Fascinating! Thank you for walking us through Cabot's process - it's the "magic" in between these steps that makes a Cabot a Cabot - and that comes from you and the amazing artisans who craft these beautiful 1911 pistols!

So if anyone was curious like me he's in a band called pop evil. They have a song that was huge on the radio around 2008-2009 called 100 in a 55 you may recognize if you're a millennial or older.

It’s always a little disappointing to see haas machines in a shop that’s producing such fine expensive products. I know they’re made in the us but man oh man there’s just so many better options. Fanuc robodrills or anything by makino. I do like the EDM processes. Great ideas for getting the sharp inside corners and the trigger path in the frame.

We have other machines as well, but HAAS has great equipment and parts support and like a lot of things it’s the Indian not the arrow. Good machinists do wonders… you can have the best machine producing bad parts if the machinist running it isn’t up to the task.

Yeesh. The more I learn about Cabot the more I'd run screaming to buy a decent CZ. Shooters these days respect function and there are filipino-smithed 1911's that shoot just as well for a thousandth of the price. Collectors should invest in collectable guns. Historical guns. These are the mercedes that lose half their value when they drive off the lot. Because who wants them? Who actually shoots them? Competitors don't use cabot. Tactical professionals don't use Cabot. 99% of gun owners have no idea who they are. It's a huge joke. A sig 1911 will run just as well if not better. Save your money. You won't get it back if you try to sell it.
