How A $3,000 Cartier Watch Is Professionally Restored | Refurbished | Insider
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Joe runs the KZread channel Nekkid Watchmaker, where he restores vintage and antique watches. He shows us how he restores a Cartier Tank watch from the 1980s. He deconstructs the entire watch, fixes the movement, cleans dirt out of it, puts all of the parts into a cleaning solution, polishes the pieces, gold-plates the case, and reassembles it.

Good thing I learned that lesson at a young age. It's helped me many times.
That watch looks like it was recovered from a shipwreck. Nekkid Watchmaker did an incredible job, and even the "flaws" just give the watch character. It's nice to see an expert at his craft.

@@Boo-pv4hn *their And you're right, I don't know. And I didn't say a single word about it either. Just made a notation, period. Plus, I've taught well over 400 people to speak and write English as a second language, for free, so maybe that's where it comes from. ✌
The Nekkid Watchmaker is one of my favourite channels and Joe one of my favourite of people. The way he chats and has "Trouble" with him in his workshop, makes it extra special. Keep up the good work, Joe, and great to see your video and yourself featured here! 😊
That's incredible! Then you have me... I usually have a few extra screws left over. Guess I'm better where I make stuff magically appear

I'm so happy to see his channel making it so big!! He's an amazing watch restorer and an even better guy!
Congratulations!!! Nekkid Watchmaker is one of my favorite channels. He engrains an uplifting message in each of his videos, and does a great job of creating a sense of community.
Well done Nekkid, you got a great feature on Insider. Saw your restorations a few times and congrats.
"You have to put back each part where it belonges, or otherwise it won't work." Amazing insight. I'm happy they used someone with a technical background to narrate this video, otherwise that would have gone right over my head.

I like how Insider is promoting less known channels that are creating some amazing content.
I watched this and had no idea Nekkid was doing it till he spoke, awesome!
i love how the video has subtitles already. appreciate it💖
Wow! That was an amazing transformation! In such a throw away world, it's so refreshing to see a master craftsman restoring a watch like this.
i saw this when he first posted, this guys an inspiration, he got me into watches. cant recommend his channel enough
Why is no one talking about his dance when he placed the pieces in the ultrasonic cleaning machine?😅😅😅
Yes! My dude Nekkid watchmaker. If you enjoy watching watches getting serviced, you’ll like his channel.
Joe is so talented and his voice is so soothing it's a pleasure watching him work love his videos 👍🏻
Wow!! To see that watch restored to original state is just amazing👏👏
Wow. Incredible process!
idc about brands but some of these mech/auto movements are mesmerizing to watch. tbh a good quartz movement is more convenient but the way it ticks is not as beautiful to watch as spring/auto movemnets that smooth second hand is unbeatable. Truly works of engineering art.
Great to see Nekkid getting some well-deserved praise!
No way! Nekkid watchmaker is getting some recognition, yes sir!
You don't need to explain with words... all I need is just watching with different beautiful angle with the original sounds... 😎
That little dance at 2:29 was unexpected haha
Nekkid watchmaker is an awesome guy. Watched this restoration when it came out. Guys I recommend you subscribe if you’re into watches. He does amazing restoration videos
Nice to see Joe here, big up to your family ;-)
This is my favorite restoration. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it. Congrats Nekkid!
Joe (aka Nekkid Watchmaker) is amazingly knowledgeable in his craft and also extremely entertaining to watch❤❤❤
Only a gifted, skilled, veteran artisan could perform this marvelous work! Bravo! Skills like watchmaking and restoration seem to be restricted to the older, more mature set of people. Make no mistake, these types of skills require years if not decades to develop. It is sad that most young people today would rather play around with a so-called smartphone than learn from a master like this gentleman.
Nicely explained... beautiful work.
Those watch repairmen r awesome i could never put it back 2gether too many small pieces i would go crazy

Joe/Nekkid Watchmaker really is the most skilled of the watchmakers with a KZread channel. In fact, no one else even comes close. So...good call, Insider!

That dial is one of the most beautiful things I've seen
Just beautiful brining back to life such a marvellous peace of art. It is sad this is a line of work that no more exist if i could i believe i would do good on this line of work.
Love his channel! Also love Wristwatch Revival! Both Joe and Marshall are skilled craftsmen.
That is a beautiful restoration of a legendary watch, and oh man that dial is nice!
It's magic. Brilliant work!
Amazing work!
WOW. The patience and knowledge he must have.
That spider dial is beautiful!!
His channel is very interesting. Been watching him for a year or so now.
Watching his channel is relaxing and entertaining.
This video made me love this watch. I actually offered to buy it from him but he never answered me just thanked me for my comment. I really wanted this piece seeing him rebuild it was beautiful.
Wow!! That is real skill and artistic talent right there.
the dial is one of a kind. a dream dresswatch.

i really wish he took commissions, would love for him to restore my vintage seiko
I love his channel! Geez I get so much comfort watching his work
Amazing job. Where can I find the band? Thanks for sharing
How much did this service cost? He did an unbelievable job.
Spectacular! I have the cheapest Carier Vermeil Tank that was gifted me in the early 1990's. I contacted Cartier April 2024, about refinishing and getting my watch in running order again. They do not refinish the gold plating. I would love to know if there is a person in my area that could renew my watch to its original beauty.
Great video . Watch it with sounds off . 👍🏻
The odds I could put that watch back together and have it work are probably worse than winning the lottery
Removing is one thing but remembering where everything goes back! That’s a whole other ballgame
He has my favorite channel on KZread and I don’t even have a watch
What an artist and engineer
What a beautiful watch. I love the cracked laquer dial.

Gorgeous spider dial.
Very interesting thank you
Anytime I watch restoration videos I’m also interested in knowing the full story/background of how these items were found/obtained.
