Very jealous of that frydek variegata!!! My January faves are my syngonium albo, pink syngonium, and hoya black kroniana.

The only miranta I’ve had success with is the rattlesnake, though as I’ve said that all of a sudden it started crisping and losing leaves, I just repotted cause the soil was hydrophobic… it was totally ready lol New people walk into my living space and I either get a “whoa” like “you’re crazy” or I’ll get a big grin and a “may I?” lol This month for me is reappreciating my current plants, trellising, propping and filling in mother plants, accessorizing changing catch pots around to better match the plant. I gotta remember it’s not about the new ones all the time

For some reason, the entire family Marantaceae prefers the best water possible. Some plants need reverse osmosis, filtered, spring or drinking water because they lack the ability to expel certain compounds, like fluoride, chlorine chloride, salts, etc. At nighttime, when most plants “perspire” or “breathe” through their pores, they expunge certain elements.. but the crisping is usually a sign that certain compounds aren’t being spelled adequately. And most tal water has chlorine and fluoride. Once in a while with tap water won’t KILL them, but some handle it better than others. I just make sure that the majority, if not all, of the water Marantaceae plants receive is not tap. This includes: _Calathea_ / _Geoppoertia_ _Ctenanthe_ _Maranta_ _Stromanthe_ …And their cousins as well! Also sensitive! All divas with water quality, believe it or not! _Alpinia_ (type of ginger) _Canna_ (AKA canna lily) _Curcuma_ (turmeric) _Heliconia_ (lobster claw) _Strelitzia_ (birds of paradise) _Zingiber_ (ginger)

My gloriousum and my monsteras are doing very well this month! :) Regarding your planty children: I adore my syngoniun albo. I had mine growing up a pole last growing season. I got some gorgeous leaves last summer/fall! Eventually, I decided to propagated and repot it without the pole. Now, I have a very nice, bushy pot. The leaves have continued to mature and the variegation continues to be stunning. So chop it if you want! It will come back :D I agree with everything you said about the V Frydek. I love the non variegated version, however. But it is one that I just can’t figure out. Then, a few months ago I got the variegated Frydek, and things have been very different. Even though it is fairly new in my collection, it doesn’t give me as much trouble as the non variegated and it just grows beautifully. I recently transferred it to pon and she seems unfazed by it. My regular green Frydek, on the other hand… I can’t seem to get more than 2 leaves! And she always has blemishes :( But she is still my obsession; a toxic relationship I refuse to quit. Lol Thank you for sharing! Have a lovely weekend 💙

Hi Joy! I just found your channel and I’m so glad I did! I’m a new mom and you give me hope that I can continue with this hobby now that I’m a mom. I just propped my Syngonium albo in water and it’s been rooting in water with a 100% success rate so far, so don’t stress! I have her on a trellis but I’m hoping to grow her a little more bushy once I pot the cuttings back in

Ugh. Your Lemon Lime Maranta!!! Mine just had mealies and is going through it. And my Frydek is also...meh. Alas! Lost so many leaves, BUT it's unfurling a new one that's a stunner!

Your lemon lime maranta looks fabulous and I hope I get a var frydek this year! 🎉💚🤍 yours is 🤌 I have my Syngonium Albo on a pole and it looks the same as yours. I too have been thinking about chopping it for a fuller look. But I know it will just eventually get spindly again 😅
