House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 3 breakdown. In-depth recap & review of Season 2 ep. 3 "The Burning Mill" with the ending explained. Please subscribe! 👉 👉 kzread.info...
HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series is back for its second season and in the third episode, taking the dragons to war seems inevitable. King Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) has sent Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) to the Riverlands to muster an army to take Harrenhal. The Blacks' King Consort Daemon (Matt Smith) has already arrived and Ser Simon Strong turned over the castle without a fight after seeing Caraxes.
Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) sends her younger children away after the incident with Ser Arryk. She enlists Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell) to escort them and a clutch of dragon eggs to Pentos. The eggs will eventually be given to Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. Rhaenyra makes a desperate attempt to talk to Alicent (Olivia Cooke) in hopes of finding a peaceful solution. When their talks break down Rhaenyra knows she's tried everything to avert war, and now it will come.
S2.E3 ∙ The Burning Mill
Both Alicent and Rhaenyra are facing the consequences of the murder of King Aegon's heir.

    I was surprised to see they changed the story concerning Daenerys's eggs, the old story was one of the coolest details when Fire and Blood first came out. I guess it makes sense to throw something in there for show only people. A lot of interesting stuff going on and it'll be interesting to see what Rhaenyra does now that she's exhausted all the peaceful options. Let me know what you think.

    What I think. 🤔. She is running with her emotions which is typical for females. Her pride won’t let her go to Harren Hall to make sure things are secured. Remember she loves riding dragons but since she got older she seems to not love it as such. She better get the getting because the greens are coming.

    I liked the scene. As since last season I've been wanting Rhaneera to say "you fool, he was talking about A Song of Ice and Fire. Not referring to your Aegon...." But, at the sametime. My lord was that stupid at the sametime. Clearly it's too late to prevent war. Clearly Alicent wouldn't have the power to stop the King. It's a bit absurd for her to sneak into the city. I mean, if it's that fuckin easy, just slowly sneak your army in and attack the Red Keep.

    What still bugs me about the whole show is everyone hanging onto the narrative that Aemond is a victim of Lucerys' legitimate, panicked self-defense and then treating that alleged victimhood as a valid reason for him to have been resentful about it in the ensuing years all the way up until he murdered him with Vhagar. Aemond lost his own damn eye. He brought the entire situation on himself by being a psychopath that was threatening to brutally murder his two much younger cousins with a rock. Lucerys did what anyone would do to save his brother and himself, understandably believing as we all did that Aemond absolutely was about to kill them if he wasn't stopped. And even if Aemond weren't, there was no way for two terrified little kids to know that. Furthermore, Aemond abdicated his right to feel sorry for himself about it the moment he said "It's alright, mother, I lost an eye but I gained a dragon." Why doesn't anyone on the show call him out for that? Uggh.

Criston established the friction between uncles and nephews (remember strong punching the shit out of him) because alicent wanted cole to do so (remember how alicent saved him for being his puppet) aemond was hostile as fuck and cole played it out. Somehow idk how people are stubborn to make it look like "both sides are at fault" but the whole fault lies with cole, alicent and otto

    I am really loving how HOTD has used the biases of Septon Barth and Mushroom and the rest to tell the stories that they left out. There were so many things just never explained in those writings, on purpose, and those omissions were for a reason. They found a treasure trove of ideas by working between the written lines.

    Riddle me this: Put aside the Viserys deathbed scene for a second and remember Alicent declared she did not want the crown back in Season I. She was prevailed by Otto (iirc) to reconsider and grab it instead, telling her should Rhaenyra ascend the throne, the Greens would be in danger and their lives most probably forfeit as they were threats to the Targaryen queen that had to be eliminated. She agrees, and steals Rhaenyra's inheritance. Why? What signs were there, what previous actions by Rhaenyra would lead Alicent to believe her beloved friend, one with whom she shared and bonded over so many experiences, would order her execution? I don't think Rhaenyra would hold her grudge about her father and her best friend marrying forever, so much so she would see her hang for it. Who is she, Joffrey Baratheon? ;) Now this is bolstered by this scene in the sept, where Rhaenyra indignantly says would not dare hurt a baby, much less order it to be killed. So I really feel it was a plot contrivance for Alicent to think Rhaenyra as a murdering psychopath. Imagine your best friend betraying you because they thought you were up to no good, even though you haven't done anything to make them think that. It doesn't make sense. My 2¢.

    The information that was conveyed by both people in that last scene was critical. Now R has even more reason to believe that she was usurped and now doubt or hesitation might seep into A’s actions moving forward. She can’t move with as much conviction as she once did. She’s no longer carrying out her King’s will. She can’t ground her actions in that anymore, and so she most likely will need to be in denial of what she now knows to be true and will likely lose a bigger part of herself as she moves forward.

  • @KabbalahSherry

    @KabbalahSherry

    Ай бұрын

    Well, tbh... most of the men ARE evil! 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 Aegon us a drunk, rapey lunatic, come on. If you've read the source material, you already know how he meets his end. And let's just say... people come to deeply regret making him king, and we'll just leave it at that. Ser Crispy Creme is still an asshole in the story, Otto is still a devious schemer in the story, and don't even get me started on Larys Clubfoot. He's gross & creepy in the story too. The show has actually given Aemon-One Eye a bit of a pass, cuz in the story he's a total psychopath, who doesn't think twice about burning thousands in the Riverlands, just because their Lord pledged for Rhaenyra. And that's something the small folk have ZERO control over. He also doesn't kill Lucerys "on accident" either. That sh*t was complete fan fiction! He absolutely murders that boy on purpose in the source material. He even goes back home & BRAGS about it. He's unhinged. The fact is, there just ISN'T very many "good men" in power, in this tale. Most of them are devious c*nts, and the rest are all bloody psychos. There's some honorable side characters here & there... but those in power, are all pretty terrible, period. Aegon is a drunk rapey loon, as I already stated, and worse... he's even left his illegimate kids to DIE down in some underground fighting pit for children. And when Alicent finds out, she does absolutely nothing about any of it, despite them being her own grandchildren. NOBODY is made out to be "innocent" in this show, except for poor sweet Helena, or the small children on both sides of course, but otherwise... everybody is guilty of some crime or immorality, to varying degrees. I DO agree that the show has taken things a bit too far when it comes to the character of Prince Daemon. In the story, he doesn't kill his 1st wife in cold blood at all, (he's still fighting in the Stepstones when she dies), nor is he a dismissive father, nor does he lay his hands on Rhaenyra in a violent or aggressive way. Hell, even the incident where he supposedly grooms & seduces a 15yr old Rhanyera, was only a RUMOR in the story, that was started by the court fool, named "Mushroom". As a reader, you aren't really sure if that incident actually happened or not. But now, thanks to the show, that sh*t is canon. 🙄 So the stuff with Daemon HAS kind of pissed me off, I won't deny that. But for the most part, I think they've portrayed the Men pretty honestly. Cuz let's face it: rarely are Men in power - especially royalty - very nice or honorable. It's RARE. So I wouldn't go looking for any paragons of virtue in this tale, cuz you won't find many. lol
