At this point you might as well accept that there is a show canon and there is book canon.

The Elissa Farman theory is far more intriguing imo, but I really appreciate the ambiguity surrounding the origin of the eggs. This fits perfectly with Fire and Blood, which is rife with unresolved mysteries. It allows the viewer or reader to choose their preferred interpretation.

I was just about to type this, the hotd story is the “truth” whereas many of the things in a Song that aren’t current POV can be myth or legend. Fire and Blood can easily allow for implication due to the style of the telling😊

8:43 Actually I think it's from burning the witch alive and the eggs in the same fire. Basically, blood magic made her fire proof and hatched the eggs. The other theory was that when they performed the horse sacrifice in that tent, it actually reanimated the eggs as her children in exchange for her pregnancy. But generally, I think blood magic (sacrifice) makes the most sense for her being fire proof and the hatching.

That could make sense if we hadn't seen Daenerys seemingly immune to heat and fire long before blood magic was used for Drogo. With the bath in the first episode, and in another where she picks up one of the eggs in a fire and doesn't get burned, yet her handmaid does (I forget her name, or the episode).

@@danigrl917 I see, that's sort of what this video is talking about. That's a change the directors made in the show but wasn't in the book... She doesn't have that moment where she isn't burned by the egg in the book. The directors kind of added some confusion, imo, when they were trying to foreshadow.

Daenerys was already heat resistance in episode 1 bc she could tolerate extremely hot bath water. They just took it to the next level with the fire.

Daenerys’ dragons parents are from Dreamfyre until I hear george say otherwise. I cannot believe the show director wanted to make something up without caring about the lore

Daenerys dragons look like clones of Helena’s dragon. It would more make sense if they came from Dreamfyre but in the shows defense we don’t exactly know the dragons mating process and if they pass on the same traits.

Dany's dragons look like a different variety of dragon entirely than Syrax.

Daenerys can also be burnt! Daenerys being complete fireproof (I mean even when she is fireproof in that one situation in the books, all of her hair still burns) is as stupid as and I quote „Dany kind of forgot about the Iron Fleet“ as a reason why Euron manages to raid her fleet, kill Rhaegal and capture Missandei 🤣🤣🤣 The same Euron who sails 3 or 4 times around all of Westeros in a couple of days (which would be sailing from Europe to North America and halfway back in a few days) and all the stuff in seasons 5-8 who breaks every piece of in-world-logic and lore established in seasons 1-4 for the sake of plot convenience

Was never into KZread until Covid, then I found your channel. Then I started working for channels like Reel Rejects, Cosmic Wonder, Ijustine, and more. My wife also works for Trilith Studios aka Marvel Studios here. Well she use to work events for Marvel when we lived in Cleveland during the Russo days. It was routine for the Dragonlords of High Valyria to use blood magic with every dragon they possessed! The books don’t go into much detail about this but it is mentioned and briefly discussed several times; it’s been many years since I read the books so I don’t recall the specifics, but maybe GRRM released some info type books since then that go over this topic. The ancestors of the Dragonlords used to be peasants until they discovered the dragon eggs while working in the mines of the volcanoes of Valyria. They invoked blood magic and imbued both themselves and the dragons with it in order to strengthen their bond, and consequently, their unified strength. In the old days the dragon riders had complete control over their mounts because of this blood magic, however, it was lost in the cataclysm and thus the Targaryens had to go on without it. The dragon riders were evidently still extremely potent machines of war, but they paled in comparison to the entity that comprised of a dragon and rider bond imbued with blood magic. I believe this is also why the dragons of Old Valyria were so much larger than those of Westeros, and why the Targaryens were one of the weakest Dragonlord families in all of Valyria.

@@shippendales8543 yes I agree with your statement! However, I believe Dany didn’t truly believe what she was doing. Again, it’s been a while haha, so I don’t remember what the books states exactly, but I’m pretty sure the blood magic used in Old Valyria was used much more often, and with much more severity! Not only to birth them, but rather consistently throughout their life. Maybe I’ll go do some more research about this because I’m getting more intrigued now myself haha!

just a thought but didn't george state that the series is the real POV story of what happened in Fire and Blood because the book is a 3rd hand account written by maisters and stuff? so it's kind of weird to get hung up on the differences in the book and serie as that seems to be the whole point.

No he didnt. For starters Rhaenys was never on the list to be elected queen and Maelor doesnt exist in the show while he does in the book. That alone means its not what really happened. Chroniclers didnt just make up a child.

I think this was done on the show for promotional reasons. Within the original lore I believe Daenerys dragons were actually stolen during the reign of king Jaeherys on Dragonstone. They were traded for a ship and the thief was never caught before she sailed away west of Westeros and the eggs were never found.

It would be interesting if in future seasons Helaena actually sees the face or faces/scenes of Danny,Jon Snow and the scene on the cliff with Dany on her dragon ❤❤❤

On S1 I saw Jaehaerys place his hand in fire from a candle for a while, with no grimace. He only moved his hand when Rhaenyra walked in the room. I think that was the directors way of telling us he’s unburnt. Would make sense because he also gets the visions.

Ryan Condal walked back her comment in an interview with Entertainment Weekly Sunday night. He said those eggs aren’t definitively Daenarys eggs. I think Geeta Patel got a little ahead of herself by haphazardly making up her own details to insert into ASOIAF. It definitely did not come from George.

Danny didn’t walk into the fire to die, she knew she couldn’t. Literally the very first scene you see her she walks into a boiling hot bath and feels nothing. She even holds a scolding hot dragon egg and was left unmarked

The whole dagger/prophecy update thing in HotD only makes it more frustrating for us to accept that Arya, and not a Targaryan, uses the dagger and kills the Night King,,, or maybe Arya was a Targaryan all along ?? Sounds cool,,, and she should be the person to ride Daenarys's third dragon along with Jon Snow. Nlw all we need is a leap of faith to track her lineage back to Targaryans

Episode 4 , wow. That dragon battle was great!

Being a big fan of the books and the show, it didn't come to me until now as to why Viserys (Danny's older brother) did not have the same amount of curiosity towards the 3 dragon eggs, given that he's a Targaryen too (and the heir, supposedly). If he was a real Targaryen by heart who knows their family history, it would have been nice if the directors showed us a more concerning reaction from Viserys towards the dragon eggs. Seems like he was only after the RULING part as a king, after all.

Great stuff as usual Charlie I’m glad George is more involved in the production for HOD so hopefully we won’t have many more lore retconning by random directors

One of the things I think the Show runners did right was Haleana being a dragon dreamer. Book Helaena could be edited out and nothing changed much Blood and Cheese could easily be done with Allicent. Even Martin praises this change. However, the Dragon eggs are nothing considering Aegon the Younger grows up hating dragons. That is where a more concerning change happens. Because Rhaenyra sends her children away by ship. The Eyrie as destination well it is not exact conducive for ship battles. Jace is supposed to die when the younger children are sent away.

Daenerys was the most powerful Targaryen who ever lived, at one point, with 3 dragons attached to her and 2 armies

GRRM never actually confirmed the stolen eggs were Daenerys so I have no issue with them making the eggs from Syrax’s clutch. However, they should’ve designed Syrax closer to the 3 Dany’s dragons. Syrax looks like a totally different breed now. Different face, tails, horns. They messed this up so bad.

What if the clutch was accidentally identified as Syrax, with multiple queen dragons in the pit, I assume it would get oddly confusing.

Um ... I'm pretty sure she knows. An earlier scene. When she has the eggs being heated. She actually lifts one. One of her slave girls rushes to her, and grabs the egg, as I guess she thinks Deanery's will be burnt. The slave girl's hands get burn marks. While Deanery's hands have no wounds... She knows :)

Why did they take down your breakdown of ep 4?

I have a question: *when they brought out Tyraxes and Stormcloud, there was a man carrying a box behind Stormcloud's box. Could that be Viserys'es dragon egg?* I thought the eggs were being laid in their crib, when Targaryens are born. They stated in the BTS video that Rhaenyra sends away the three eggs that Daemon discovered from Syrax's clutch in season one and the egg of her son Viserys Targaryen. *Could the blue remaining dragon egg be Rhaenas dragon Morning?* I mean IF there is another dragon egg in the box the man was carrying.

So summerhall never worked because of the ceremony?

Well the original Valyrians seemed to have used blood magic to bind themselves with Dragons, and Daenerys did the same thing, I think if Aegon the 5th used blood magic to hatch the eggs it would have worked.

They are bigger. Who knows… maybe they get a bit smaller as they petrify. That would make sense. Losing the moisture from the egg and dragon inside as it turns to stone and dries out? Yeah… I can totally see that.

So for Targaryens that claim dragons later in life, their eggs never hatched in their cradle? Or do they not all get eggs in their cradles as babies?

that's confusing me is why Rhayna nieces and nephews all have dragons and she does not. I think they are placing these new ideas to make the other shows cohesive. Then being able to make new stories while keeping the same notes.

That'd be unfortunate and a bit of a corner they'd write themselves into by excluding the other possibilities and the most common one effectively closing that surprised that could be big reveal later for another show short sighted poor decision.

I'm of the mind to agree that the director came up with idea of the eggs being the ones from GOT. Unless we hear something else in the future. All of this dragon and dragon eggs talk makes me wish that someone had gotten around to adapting the Dragon Riders of Pern books. They came way before the GRRM works.

I don't like the implication that Dany's eggs came from Syrax. They look nothing like their mother! She is a totally different breed of dragon than Drogon appears to be.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if Rhaena’s unhatched egg from childhood becomes one of Daenery’s dragons?

I think it's pretty simple if you can separate the books from the TV shows. If you had no awareness of any book content, it would be a great little Easter egg (pardon the intended pun) to see what you would perceive to be Daenerys' dragon eggs.
