In the book, Dunk doesn't pretend to be Ser Arlan of Pennytree. Ser Arlan is said to have knighted Dunk before he died, as any Knight can make a Knight. It's just that no one at the torny remembers Ser Arlan, it is only when a Prince takes pitty on him that he his allowed to fight in the lists.

@@dishy1989 When we first meet Dunk and Egg in the books, King Daeron II sits upon the Iron Throne. Daeron has 4 sons. Baelor is the eldest and has a son of his own, Aerys has no sons, Rheagal is 3rd and has a son, and Maekar is the youngest of the 4. Egg is the 5th son of Maekar. Meaning, when me meet Egg, he is 11th in the line of succession. Hence he becomes known as Aegon V the unlikely.

There is no confirmation he was or was not knighted. However, it is strongly indicated that he was not knighted many times. Here is why: - In the beginning of the Hedge Knight as Dunk is digging Ser Arlan's grave, he considers trying to find another knight to squire for. Why would a knight want to squier for another knight? - In Sworn Sword, Dunk is questioned by Lady Rohanne Webber of his knighthood and if Ser Arlan named him a knight. Dunk shuffled his feet thinking: ‘One of his boots was half unlaced, he saw. “No one else was like to do it” he said.’ - After Egg reveals his true identity. Dunk reflects: ‘He knew what it was like to want something so badly that you would tell a monstrous lie just to get near it.’ - Before the Trial by Seven, Ser Raymun Fossoway asks Dunk to knight him ("Any knight can make another knight"): ‘Ser Duncan, knight me.’ He went to one knee. I hope it will be a buddy cop series with Dunk and Eeg travelling the 7 Kingdoms and getting into all kinds of shennanigans on the road.

These prequels don't carry much weight when you consider that it was all building to a great evil that could only be stopped by a small child giving it a wound that she herself had earlier survived.

Feel like if these new shows are to mean anything, they’ll have to eventually go back and redo the ending of GoT. Or at least redo the Long Night. To have that existential threat that is hinted at in all of these shows, essentially have no major consequences, hurts all of these new shows.

A Knight Tale is a super underrated movie.

as long as Disney does not buy it.

I can't wait for that moment where Duncan in his desperation yells, "Are there no knights among you!?" Followed by silence, and then Baelor "Breakspear" shows up, in his son's armor.. Man, thinking about ut gives me goosebumps.. But.. "The realm, the realm needs good men". 😢

I wished HBO and GRRM would produce an animated series, "Tales from The Citadel," where the Grand Maester is a narrator like The Crypt Keeper and The Watcher. It could be single episode historical events, or mini story lines like Tales of The Jedi series. Then you could voice cast the same actors you would have them play in live action projects.

Is Aegon’s conquest even that interesting? It’s just people plotting against Aegon and he just owns them with dragons. Doesn’t really feel that interesting from a narrative standpoint

Winds of Winter has been nearly done for a long time now. The Dunk and Egg stories are three finished, a forth in progress, and GRRM said the series is 10-12 novellas.

Honestly GRRM can hand over an outline for future D&E books. Condal only essentially had an outline for HOTD & look at the magic he created!

I'm absolutely convinced that the plan for HOTD is for it to be a Targaryen anthology, so after The Dance, it'll take us through The Regency, the life and times of Aegon IV, and the Blackfyre Rebellion.

I want aegons conquest & Roberts rebellion more than anything. Idk. I needa read dunk & egg I reckon. It seems like ppl enjoy it ❤

I found quite a bit of mistakes in the video Ser Duncan the Tall is actually 6'11, not 7'0 Remember they say he's slightly under 7'0 Ser Duncan didn't pretend to be Ser Arlan, he lied about being knighted by Ser Arlen And actually when Dunk knew Egg Egg was just a Targaryen prince He was like 10th in line to the Iron Throne Egg was the fourth son of the fourth son of the king, that's why he was remembered as Aegon the Unlikely And Baelor Breakspear is not only closer than Maeker in line, He's the next line Aerys I was the younger brother of Baelor, he only became king because Baelor died in Dunk's trial by seven In season 1, the king will be Daeron the Good, not Aerys I

Why are they not doing a Robert rebellion spin off it’s the most relatable to the main series

They can't for a simple reason: the show was never about Jon Snow, or the main characters, or even actions and dragons. The show was always about the plot. About decisions that affect people around you, above or under you. Two quotes define Game of Thrones: Chaos is a ladder", and, "power resides where men believe it resides". A third comes to mind: King Stannis: "What's the life of a bastard against the good of the relm?", while talking about Gendry...but, I believe it also talks about Jon Snow. Everyone is worth something, everyone has a loyalty to something, someone, and in those decisions, they affect people around them. Cersei, Theon, Ollie, Lady Olenna, Baelish, Robb, all took decisions that affected them one way or another, and affected others too. That's what made the show interesting. Not Jon Snow. I loved Jon, but the show is about the struggle for power, not Jon.

Can't wait for more of the Game of Thrones show. Thanks, Charlie.

Strange, I dont recall Duncan pretending to be ser Arlyn? As I recall it ser Arlyn "knighted" Duncan and he saw himself as a true knight? I get a feeling that you havent actually read the books? For example 3:55 when you meantion bloodraven and says something like "mayby we get to see young bloodraven, sounds like they will eventually. why wouldnt you do a younger version of bloodraven if you could?". If you had read the novels you would know that Dunc and Egg meets with Bloodraven after the torney in the last book, and are mentioned several times in the book as if he and D&E had met many times.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms aren't books, they are novellas, and relatively simple novellas at that, compared to the hugely complex ASOIAF books. George could easily write three more Dunk and Egg stories if he didn't have Winds dragging him down.

I think this series will probably the easiest to make, no dragons or direwolves. But probably a lot of choreography for fighting.

It's disappointing to hear that all the spinoff shows HBO is executing are focused on one singular family line, the Targaryens, AND telling stories we already know the outcome of. We already know that the Dance of Dragons ends with everyone dying and the dragons being wiped out. We already know Aegon the Conqueror... conquered. It's all the OTHER cool parts of Martin's world I want to see play out, like (if it has to be on Westeros) The Long Night. But more interestingly, why don't we get shows about Essos? Essos is a far more interesting continent. Just the lands of Yi Ti and Asshai would make for fantastic television. But no, HBO has to stick to the same thing because they assume that's what everyone wants. Ugh.

Don't agree with you that Tanselle is necessarily implied to be the ancestor of Brienne. GRRM has said that Dunk has a few characters during the events of the main series that he is related to. For instance I'm fairly confident that he boinked old nan (young nan) and is Hodor's great(great?)grandfather "Bran is fed weirwood paste and has visions of the past, including one of a slender girl on her toes kissing a knight as tall as Hodor." and the 4th book is going to be "the she-wolves of winterfell"

Pumping out a 6 episode season every two years is a complete disregard for your audience. I don't care about the excuses or the time lost on spinoffs nobody asked for. Looks like HBO is going the GRRM's lazy way. It's been 13 years since Dance, if anyone still cares.

Aemon (b. 202) was 2 years younger than Egg (b. 200).

Hoping they inject a little humor into Dunk & Egg, which HotD is *severely* lacking.

the fourth novella is almost ready george always tell, he had to wrote it for the Dangerous Women Book, a book with shorrt stories of different writers, but he did not finish, so he uses material of the worldbook and createtd the first "house of the dragon" Novella. The fourth story of Dunk and egg is set on winterfell during a time with a wounded Lord Beron Stark, and his kids to young to reign and 4 or 5 Lady starks, his wife from House Royce and and some wdows i quess his mother, granny, the widow of Cregan stark, etc. Working title "The Shewolves of Winterfell"

This is literally the only franchise left that I can count on to be good. Lets keep it going I'll take spinoffs all day!
