I wasn’t sure as to his casting - I don’t watch The Crown, and all I know him for is his portrayal of Dr Who, (excellent though it was !) but I’m soo pleased at his portrayal of Daemon - he’s the black Prince, in both manner and behaviour !!

I think Daemon was doing a lot of reading in pentos to learn a lot of binding spells for Dragons . I think he has been gearing up for this war for a long time. He has never trusted Otto, or Alicent and he knew Rhaenaryas claim to the throne would be contested because of Aegon. He knows the treachery of men and their ambitions for power.

He already knew about how tricky this situation, but consistent to his personality, he wanted to believe that in the end it would all be fine.

Yes she had a special bond and rode Drogon, but Rhaegal and Visaryon did what she wanted they even knew when she was back in Mareen and bursted out of the caves and started burning ships with her and Drogon. In old Valariya they used binding spells , and horns to bind with the dragon. And we don’t see any of that in any of the shows . So to sit and say they can’t or won’t change some details up is naive . They already have . The books aren’t the Bible .

I know there wasn’t enough time in this season but I wish they could have shown the Cannibal, Sheepstealer, and Grey Ghost as well.

Not just time, but budget also probably played a factor. Season 2 should get an increase in budget and production value. If the Dance plays out like it did in Fire & Blood, this will be one of the most expensive shows ever made.

@@essayedgar Balerion full grown in his prime was the size of one of the Cannibals wings.The Cannibal is also the last and only survivor in Dance of the dragons , and the song of ice and fire, and also the doom of Valeria.He also the oldest in the books it is said that The Cannibal encountered the black dread once but defeated him with equal scarring since The Cannibal eats only large prey to grow bigger and is why he is the biggest, for reference the Cannibal is so big he has to fly above the clouds in order to stY afloat and hidden

Vermithor and Silverwing are my favorite dragons in the lore so seeing one finally on the screen was so exciting. Hope to see them more but still not ready with the battle at tumbleton.

You say that as if any sole dragon posed a threat to Vermithor. They had to come at him with several dragons to bring him down.

The true source material for The Dance of the Dragons is actually two short stories. A Kings Brother and The Princess and The Queen are those short stories. They used those short stories as a bases for Dance of the Drangons section of Fire And Blood. Things have also been retconned in Fire And Blood.

I really hope we even get a glimpse of cannibal

@@saveit4last You can only bond with one dragon at a time lol. The other rider can only claim a dragon when the initial rider dies. Dany only bonded with Drogon. She was the mother of dragons, but could not ride Rhaegal and Viserion.

I guess the big battle to see will be Daemon on Vermithor and Aemond on Vaghar. Those 2 will more than likely be the biggest dragons we see

All I know is Vermithor had never seen battle but being big and older maybe they will use him more. Guess we will see as they aren't fully going by the books so it's exciting.

@@Sdotm786 Cannibal’s age is unknown beyond him being older than the other two wild dragons. He’s most likely similar in age to Vermithor, but Vermithor was noted to grow extremely fast, even outgrowing the older dragon Dreamfyre.

If in the show Daemon claims vermithor and the showdown of Daemon and aemond happens with daemon riding vermithor it will ruin the best thing that happened in the books.. despite the massive size difference caraxes defeating vhagar was the best storyline ever.

Caraxes was able to drag his body ashore before dying. But in that battle no one survived. Daemon's body was never found.

I have a feeling the more I'm seeing the series vs the books that I believe Daemon is a dragon(in the flesh of course). The few tales that have survived of Old Valyria is that some of the dragon lords of Old Valyria were dragons. As we well know not much survived the Doom of Old Valyria. In the show I think they are kind of going that way, as the books are vague. Daemon has went through dragons fire twice: once on battlefield, next was when he and Laena where riding in the sky and Vaghar billows out fire and he goes right through it unscathed. Then he singings to Vermithor and his eyes changing. Lets also not forget the marks on his skin...its not greyscale or leprosy. The way he bonds and speaks with dragons. Finally, we see Helaena talking prophecy at the funeral of Laena, I forget the exact words, but talking about the dragons of flesh, and the dragons of thread ...then it goes a little later to Daemon and Rhaenyra getting it on, on the beach. The dragon of flesh got me. So I think Daemon is a rarity that they havent seen since Old Valyria. I think that is why we see him combing through the books in the library in Pentos. I wouldn't be shocked if that is where Nettles comes in as one of the forest people, or a fire witch. There parting was a very sad one that had me crying. But i think Nettles was old enough to maybe fill in some of the answers he was looking for. I dont think Daemon had a choice but to "die" or disappear. Idk thats whats going through my mind.

Cannibal is smaller than Vermithor. Vermithor was already the third largest dragon after Balerion and Vhagar by 48 AC, decades before the Dance.

The dragons don’t stop growing and get bigger and bigger as they age. I’m assuming how long does it take for a dragon to become rideable or a threat to other dragons. I think the mention of eggs by daemon is more about having reinforcements down the line should the war last a long time. Those dragons wouldn’t be a threat to the current dragons until at least 10-15 years old. If all the other dragons die, then 2-5 years until they’d be more of a threat to humans. Rememeber arrax (the dragon killed in the last episode) I believe is around 5-10 years old at most due to the time jump. Arrax wasn’t a huge threat to any other dragons except maybe the other small ones

At the time when Meraxes was still alive she was bigger than Vhagar as Vhagar was the smallest dragon during the conquest of Westeros. But meraxes was killed by the Dornish during the war where she along with her rider queen Rhaenys both died. But talking about the size at which the dragons reached before they died then Balerion was the largest followed by Vhagar then Vermithor. At the time of their deaths Balerion was 200 years old, Vhagar was 181 years and Vermithor 100 years or more. But Meraxes was may be around 50 years old when she died.

@@nasirisrarhussain4477 Balerion was well over 200 years old when he died, he was already a big enough dragon to be mounted when thr Targaryens migrated from Valyria in 114 before the conquest and died in 94 after it. Vhagar died at 181 years old, Meraxes was a little over 100 years old when she died. Vermithor was just shy of 100 during the dance of the dragons (born in 34ac with Jaeherys and the dance is 129-131ac)

hes not as large as vhagar, baelon and cannibal (the biggest dragon ever at westeros)

if i were to have a dragon, ill chose to ride a water dragon. most of the fleet move by water. not the sky. itl be far more devastating if water dragons exist in the series to defeat the enemies. i want to see a Valerian ride/command them. not even vhagar can stand water dragons that acts like piranhas and breaths cold flame. NO ONE. So, im naming that mother of sea dragons, Saerebes. her scale is made of crystal gold. and her wings are made of golden scales and miasma. im picturing kings landing, and its inhabitants deepfreezed by this dragon's breath. the perfect killer weapon to cook the old vhagar for good. a valerian mage riding it who is cursed to venture the world forever

I think the wild dragon Cannibal may be the second largest in the time of dance of dragon period.And Vermithor probably would be third.

Vermithor is directly stated to be the third largest dragon after Balerion and Vhagar, in ALL of Westeros, multiple times.

I agree, especially because you wisely used "may be". There is no 100% source of information when it comes to the cannibal, as everyone stayed away from him. The books state that Vermithor was the largest living dragon after Vhagar died, true, but the books also state that the information is not 100% reliable! Moreover, since the cannibal is known for eating dragon eggs, they should have probably killed him, not to lose the eggs. Having two dragons that are bigger than the cannibal, and have been to war, they should have outmatched him. This leaves room for some doubts about the reliability of the Master's claims....

@@Steez224 no, we and the books state that no source of information is 100% reliable. The dragon index on the HBO site does not mention the cannibal. You are the only one so smart to know what is 100% sure.

why all this? everything is written in the books already. we all know how this will play out. which is a shame and in typical GOT fashion, will be bloody and deadly

Dragons are very intelligent creatures and they use humans as pets so their pets won’t hunt them down and kill them.

They had Vermithor and Silverwing century old riderless dragons at Dragonstone. But their children had claimed young immature dragons like Vermax and Arrax. Simple logic wud have ensured their victory in DotD if they brought these two dragons wud hv been part of the family.

Does daemond is warging vermithor? Why they focusing on daemond's eye? That's would make sense because sometime caraxes eyes turn white and did he warged the horse to kill his wife?

It didn’t look nearly as big as Vhagar. Besides in the amount of time Vhagar was at Kings Landing while Aemond grew up, there are probably eggs there too.

all time biggest targaryen dragon was Balerion the Black Dread. During the time of House of the Dragon, the biggest one is Vhagar, previously ridden by Aegon I’s sister wife - Queen Visenya Targaryen

Meraxes was bigger than Vhagar during the conquest, which was over a hundred years before the Dance of Dragons.
