I am an American firefighter and from what I could see I was very impressed with how the firefighters attacked and protected exposures and extinguished this fire!!!

Future of what is comfortable Jo

Visited Japan about 20 years ago. Was amazed at the tiny firetrucks. This video shows well why they are so small. The firetrucks in Chicago could never get there.

Of corse they couldn’t. They’d run out of gas trying to cross the pacific! No gas stations out there. Ive been out there when I was in the navy in 1979. Nothing but water! Salt Water! Once I saw a whale and it was as BIG AS A BUG! Well, old men like myself don’t need a bugs life. Tootles!

Solid defensive attack with emphasis on exposures.Remember folks this is Japan and it is closely constructed.I hope there is help for the effected families.

Many factors here. Small streets for accessibility? Limited tank size on their apparatus? Not sure if they had hydrants in the area? Limited water supply unlike the USA with large diameter hose? Questionable on master stream use due to limited water supply? Aerial apparatus unable to access area? Structures built on top of each other, just like the U.S.? Over all, they kept the fire to the original structure even with the fire volume on arrival. Every country operates differently with what they have just like every department paid or volunteer in the USA. I think they did well with what they had. KUDOS to them.

Awesome work, you can definitely see the firefighting efficiency that is almost exclusive to Asian countries and their discipline.

I'm always amazed how uneffective water seems to work on a fire like this ..I thought it would go out alot easier with the fire hoses smothering like that

These asian countries are quite demure and respectful with their emotions whilst watching things like this as spectators. In American you'd get some fat chocolate hogwart screaming "ermahgaaaaawd" repeatedly while adding other incessant drivel. And Hank Loudmouth American Jr, the checkshirted accountant running around badmouthing first responders and threatening to sue them in the background.

Wow! Bad mouthing Americans. Luckily that doesn’t happen. You must watch too many movies and t.v. shows with firefighters. Lol. And so what if people here in an America express their shock and surprise? We’re not like Japan, too repressed and raised to think it’s wrong to be emotional or scared. When I’ve seen a house on fire in my neighborhood or on the news, the family of that home, are scared, emotional because that’s their home being destroyed by fire and losing everything and I’ve never seen anyone yell at a first responder because they’re not afraid to tell that person to shut up and go away or they can have that person arrested. Cops are also there at a fire controlling people from trying to get too close. Sad thing you bashed Americans. Please, stay in your igloo. Lol 😂

Weird how they have two bigger fire trucks there and one small truck there. No ladder and just two fire hose. It looks like a few are running around not knowing what to do.

Them Kei fire trucks don’t have ladders? The second floor has burned hard for a while. They need mini ladder trucks too.

Do they use or even have deck guns ? And do they ever use ladder trucks or bucket trucks on residential fires ?

deck guns are actually more common in north america than they are in europe or asia.

Crazy how much that was raging. House fires are nuts. Interesting to see emergency services at work.

I'd like to know what the old electrical wiring was like in Japan to see how it compares with the old 'knob and tube' wiring in the US. Also, am curious to know what the codes were for framing and building materials.

They build most houses as light weight structures because the threat of earthquakes is so high, fire is a big issue as well because of this.

A lot of Japanese houses are built with light materials. Thats why they are very susceptible to fire.

The firefighters saved the community . Take a moment an imagine what could have happened .

Take a moment and try to find some pictures from the WWII affect on Tokyo Fire bombing raid on the Area of the Train Station, presumed to be a Safe Place for Evacuation. The Fire Storm was so dramatic that people actually suffocated from the Heat not from burns or inhalation of Smoke.

I didn’t see any interior attacks. Even fires this big are easier to fight from the inside. Getting the water to the base of the fire pits it out faster.

The one big difference I see here between Japanese and American firefighters, is we have a no running on the fire scene policy. It gets people hurt.

Your comment reminds me of my Golfing days. My husband and I would laugh hysterically when we saw ASIAN Golfers on the Course. (My husband is Japanese) They, all 4 of them, ran everywhere. We referred to them as being in a Chinese Fire Drill

I was taught this from a young age when getting away from a hazard. You don't run because you can trip. Haven't they ever been to a public pool? They're one step away from engaging in horseplay. Then it's just a matter of time before they're all peeing everywhere.

Why use a large ladder on a building that's only two stories high? This doesn't happen in the UK either. The fire is well supressed by 9:00 so they have clear knowledge of what is effective firefighting with this type of property.

Wow, it took all but half the video, just for the japan fire fighters, to get two water hoses on one side of the home burning down. Longest fire fight Ive have seen in a while, with such a small structural area. Thank goodness no one was hurt or killed in this incident.

I recommend LESS running around and another line or two. A tower ladder with a couple of 2-1/2’s would be great.

Are you fkng kidding me??? this is a great example of complete lack of attack plan!!, no water where needed the most, water hose flow and pressure barely good enough to clear out a chicken coop!. Na thumbs down guys you need a whole lot more training on how to attack a house fire because this was an utter failure to save anything!.

I thought they did a great job. A fire that large takes a ton of water to knock it down. They got a charged line to the 1st due attack truck quick and once you have a supply line set up, you then attack hard which they did. I didn't see a ladder truck, my station doesn't have one either but when get a report of a structure fire, several towns are toned out at the same time, one brings their tower while the rest send tankers

@@mattbevacqua4280 what does “quickly” mean to you? If you look at the times, the fire department was on scene flowing water with active fire showing for well over 15 minutes..maybe closer to 20. That is not quickly to me.

@@dannyp8056 They were following the order of operations. Here in the US we teach RECEO-VS Rescue Exposure Confinement Extinguish Overhaul with Ventilation and Salvage floating wherever in that order to effect the other 5. So yes, they werent actively putting water on the fire building because they were protecting the exposures first. The fire building is already a complete loss, they are working to prevent a conflagration. Nothing about this was slow or inefficient, they did a good job in my view.
