Truck 50 Assists on Strasburg 2 Alarm Building Fire *Helmet Cam*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On scene footage begins at 11:15
Truck 50 responding to assist Station 05 (Strasburg) as the 3rd due truck on a 2 alarm fire at Hershey Farms Restaurant. The Tower was originally sent to the A/B corner to set up, but with already 2 trucks set up out front, Chief 50 attempted to find a way to get the Truck around to the rear. The decision was made to shut down the 5" supply for 30 seconds so it could be disconnected to get the Truck across, and then hooked back up. After setting up on side C, we made our way to the roof to investigate the possibility of making a trench cut to stop the fire spread. However, with fire already consuming more than half the building, as well as there being multiple heavy HVAC units on that part of the roof, it was determined there was no use or safe way to do it. After getting water, the Truck flowed for some time, along with Truck 05 and Truck 63, until the bulk of the fire was knocked down. As we arrive on scene you can also see Engine 502 laying a supply line to a nearby hydrant. Also shortly after arrival you can hear the message announcing for all units to evacuate the building. Willow Street Fire Company. Taken 1/10/23
Truck 50 is a 2003 Pierce Dash.

FAQs-
Q: "Where is this?"
A: Our fire house is located in the town of Willow Street, just south of Lancaster City, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Q: "What is the spinning thing?"
A: That is called the "Roto-Ray," it is a spinning light designed to catch drivers attention.
Q: "Why is the call so far away?" or "Why does it take so long to get there?"
A: Many of our responses, or at least many of the ones that are uploaded are responding to assist other departments. Usually another firehouse can be seen or is passed by who is already on the call. We can reach the far end of our first due in West Lampeter Twp within 5 minutes, and in Providence Twp about 7.
Q: "What camera are you using?"
A: For dash cams I use a GoPro Hero 7, helmet cam videos I use a FireCam 1080

  • @2009dudeman

    @2009dudeman

    3 ай бұрын

@@takarasan Some departments do, some don't. Often rural departments won't have them due to the small population and people can find another way around a block with little traffic. It does make hose setup harder as you must be careful. For cities, departments have so much on the trucks already. Not all departments choose to carry "Schlauchbrücken" (hose bridge) on every truck. You would think our bigger trucks have more storage, but I am always amazed with how much gear you guys pack into your trucks.

@@MILESNEWMOYERyes blowing of the air horn either multiple bursts or long blare is used as an aide to inform firefighters inside who may otherwise not have heard radio traffic. The loud drawn out air horn can be better heard and needs no explanation to those inside. (If you hear it GET OUT). The decision made by those in charge. That firefighters inside were unable to effectively get to where the main body of fire was located and apply water changed operations from aggressive interior attack to a more defensive master stream attack. Allowing for direct water application onto the greatest amount of fire. Those streams of water can cause significant harm if sprayed on people which is why the building gets evacuated before they are used.

I live in NYC and watching how long it took (no fault to the drivers, just simple logistics) to arrive on scene took me by surprise. There's an engine every 10 or so blocks here, a truck'd be on scene within minutes. Again, this is not meant as an accusatory statement, merely taking a moment to realize how significant response time is when your life is burning to the ground. "Firefighters are the heroes police want to be."

I love a good defensive op! Lowered that pond level that day. Great work by Truck 50. You have had some great bangers of video’s lately. Keep it up. Love watching.

It looked like you pulled the bucket back after knowing the fire was under you. If so, very smart move.

Central NJ volly here. Great job by all companies. Really sad to see this. This area of Lancaster is full of friendly hard working folks. Never ate at this place but it’s right up the road from the hotel I stay at every year. Hopefully the family can rebuild and bounce back from this

75% of all fire departments in the US are volunteer. That is a fact that most do not know. George Washington, our first US president was a volunteer fireman.

It's amazing how people either don't know or don't care to get tf out of the way when there is a firetruck behind them with the sirens blazing. 4:47

It’s pulling a lot of weight. I’m pretty sure it’s a series 60, you’d rather have this then anything newer, at least power train wise.

Super video. Loved when turned corner you saw the header. That's why you use smoth bore on elevated stream. I guess some of the water runoff went back to the pond and was recycled. Good job Truck 50, and IC.
