@@user-wq9mw2xz3j they can't just remove old stuff. They happened upon a more interactive gameplay model after the initial release of the game. I would assume they took lessons learned from CS1 and design a system with those in mind rather than just copy-pasting the legacy dual system.

Cause it really seems that either they didn't have these great ideas from the beginning and just had to implement them later via dlc's, OR (knowing paradox this is more likely) it was planned like this from the beginning - to give just a little of a functionality in the base game like base airport and then provide better airports in dlc's and after all a big airport expansion, this way making much more money from the same 1 idea of airports. Not mentioned that most of dlc's work on the same mechanics - create a district and then you have 1 hub (main building) for all the purposes and other buildings that are linked to it. Literally every big dlc - parklife, campus, airport, pedestrian zones work on this blueprint...

Yeah this reminds me of SimCity! They had this mechanic on the sports arena and convention center I believe

Okay this actually looks really good. Told myself I wasn’t going to buy it, but I might be having second thoughts

I wonder how well this integrates with other DLC. Will a park life nature preserve attract nature lovers like you’d think it would? Will shoppers flock to a hotel next to the mall of marvels or do they only like “real” shops and not mall-shaped monuments? Do business travelers dig staying in a financial district.

financial distrcits if full of office will appeal to buisness tourists, parklife parks has happiness radius, and i guess the hotels refer to that hapiness radius to know where sighseeing areas are, so probably yes. as for mall , if theyre unique buildings they might count for sightseeing maybe

I’m not sure about whether it’ll be smart enough to recognise the malls and department stores as anything other than Unique Buildings, but if you’re playing on PC you can always use the Ploppable RICO mod to convert them to commercial.

I thought this would be another unique building just plop it down and that's it, but this DLC is in more in-depth

This is not a mini expansion This is on par with what you'd expect from a full DLC expansion. I'm amazed at the content they're pumping out for the send off of CS1. Excited to see what's in store for CS2!

Ironically, this "Mini-DLC" appears to have more impact, profitwise than the other DLCs like Plazas, Airports or Financial Districts DLC. Looking forward to the next tutorial to see some marinas!

Plazas absolutely tanks your profitability, i think that is why they made the banks one, i had a city that was making millions a week then built a large pedestrian district as a city center and i started running at a loss.

Yeah, I know some people love Airports, but it's very niche... you set aside an area of the city, build your airport, maybe upgrade it a little but it's mostly done. Hotels seem like something you can usefully drop in all over the city... build some early on, and still be finding uses for them with a 100k city...

It's not the commercial version of industries I was hoping for But I'll take it

Commercial version in Industries is what the Malls pack should have been. Definitely one of the most lacking areas of the game.

I like this mechanics, forces me to think of a strategic location for them.

This is a great idea! I can’t wait to see all the community created hotels that crop up on the workshop

this seems like it will make building a tourism centric city a real option when combined with the Parks, Airports and Plazas DLCs

I'm not completely sold on this DLC, as I really only see 1 or 2 buildings that I like, but I'm glad to see this expansion doesn't rely on district painting and specialization, which is such a limiting tool.

Totally going to name that small inn "The Dragonfly"

You wanna know what would've been more realistic in the dlc? is finally your sims chilling on the beach and swimming in the water.

Oh this does look like a keeper DLC on day one now. Definitely have been wanting to experiment with sightseeing and the like in my cities, and this helps. I wish the airport and business hotels from the Airports expansion could take part in this mechanic (if you have it already)

Yeah hope so like they did with ck3 but honestly I haven't checked if paradox kept to their promises and really included all dlc content for ck2 in ck3 for free. Do you know if they actually did? If so, then of course I would pay 60 bucks like for the AAA game, why not... It's just hard to imagine what they would come up with for dlc's for cs2 then

I hope they have a massive sale on these new DLC's. I am torn. The past few look really good and I do want them. On the other hand, I am now awaiting Cities Skylines 2, and doubt I will play the old one once the new one gets launched.

Looks like. At the very least, we do see smaller and larger variants of the same building, so I'm guessing that's the difference between 1-start and 5-star hotels... they get bigger and more elaborate.

That button is available for all buildings with submesh variations, and it opens a drop-down menu that allows for the variation of the building to be manually selected. Maybe that means we can change the height of the building using that menu.

Paradox a couple months ago: "This is our last update." Paradox today: "Got another update for you." Now my city is broken again😢.
