The producers of these figures know this is a family cycle and if there’s a new movie in the franchise there’s also more potential for them. I’ve always from the beginning of collecting have maintained my collecting decisions has to include my family support. After all it’s my daughters one day that’s either going to enjoy them or sell them on and that is what makes me more than happy about collecting.

I am definitely a Covid collector. I finished up Clone Wars when I discovered Hot Toys for the first time looking online for a Rex figure. They had just announced their first Captain Rex. I was absolutely blown away by what I saw, and had the money so I preordered him right away. I still love engaging in the community, but I don’t have as much disposable income anymore. This year my entire budget went to the InArt The Joker figure. There are A LOT of Hot Toy figures I really want that have been announced this year, but my space is limited, and I’m happy with my current collection choices. Sorry if this is a mouth full. Love your videos! Hope you enjoy your anniversary!

I only have a few figures and they are only characters who truly mean something to me, I don’t call myself a collector because I stray away from side characters and completing lines. These figures are ungodly expensive and would rather my money go to other things.

I can only accommodate about 50 figures without getting rid of one for another and I'm getting close to that number. I have bought less this year than I have in years past. Right now I'm hovering around 5-10 preorders from 2023 but have only bought 4 figures in 2024

I've always been a collector since when I was young. I collected stuffed animals all the way to Lego Bionicles. When I left for College/University, I pretty much stopped. Sometimes after the pandemic, I got back into collecting again starting with Marvel Legends. I since then quickly moved on to Figuarts, Mafex, Mezco, and now Hot Toys. I love this hobby and don't see myself stopping, maybe slowing down. The state of the economy here in Canada isn't that great. With that, I have noticed a lot of people not spending money on luxury items like collectibles and focusing more on necessities.

I'm one of those pandemic collectors. I've been aware of HT for a while but resisted getting into it because of price. Now a few years later and more disposable income and a renewed interest in Star Wars thanks to Mandalorian and Clone Wars, I have 12 figures. Purchase strategies hasn't changed much since the end of the pandemic and this new era of collecting. I still buy what I really like, "value" be damned. Space is a major issue though so I have to be picky. I don't think I'll be purchasing backwards any more though--got what I want for the most part and the new stuff is just simply superior.

I don't have them anymore but I now have 103 in collection. A good chunk came and went, but I remember the days of either breaking even or profiting whenever I sold a Hot Toy on eBay. Lol.

Well I just want to share my experience, tho I’m not an 1/6th scale collector yet. It all started when I was a kid, my parents and grandparents always buys me toys and I’ve shown my interest since then. I’ve been buying figures ever since I was on elementary school until highschool (with a supporting parents & grandparents for my hobby lol). I stopped collecting at college because I focus to my hockey team and collecting girls back then lol. When I graduate and move out around the end of the pandemic, I was cleaning my old room and packing my stuffs then I saw my captain cold funko pop that I bought at 2017’s comic con and think “hey why don’t I complete the line since I love The CW Flash Series so much, I would love a memorabilia!” That one thought jumpstarted my collecting soul ever since lol. Fast forward until now, I’ve become an illustrator and been back into collecting, I’ve completed the whole CW Arrowverse Funko Pops and got into Mcfarlane, Marvel Legends, Black series, ZD toys, and Transformers Oversize figures lmao. Now I have pre ordered the new Soosootoys The Flash. Can’t wait to see where I’m at in the future lol, I guess collecting figures brings me the joy that my parents & grandparents gave me when I was a kid. I’m so grateful and will never sell those figures that they bought me 😊

I just can’t justify the extortionate prices paid for plastic even though I have the funds, my money would go far further being placed elsewhere. With everything going on in the world hot toys collecting seems irrelevant. I suddenly lost interest after my last purchase padame. I thought I would be collecting for life but now my only appreciation for hot toys is watching your videos and enjoying them. Keep doing what your doing I Wish you the best😉

This is highly accurate. I myself was in the game of high-end lightsaber collecting around 2018. I never had a desire for an action figure or anything else. Just movie props. Sure enough, 2020 hit and I had to get the mandalorian figures. Then it bled into 12”. Then it was hot toys, etc. I loat a job a year ago and had to sell almost all of my collection and start over. I recently decided I was going to only collect the CORE movies/memories from my childhood which was Star Wars episodes 1-2, Clone Wars, and Tobey Spiderman. I have now bought 3 things from each of those movies/eras, and dont plan on grabbing anything else. I have to say, I have been to ICCC the last 2 years and have met a celebrity each time with a picture and those are much more prized and precious to me than the figures. I have 3, 1/6 scale figures and im happy with that. Looking to expand my memories and experiences over my toys!

Hi Keco, I started collecting Kenner 3.75 Star Wars figures in the 80's, so always been in my blood! I have limited room now so concentrating on quality and what I really want! I have also started moving into statues over the last few years, which I also love, even though very expensive! I am well aware how much money I have spent, but do not regret it! Been collecting 1/6 scale figures since 2005 starting with those Tonka Toy-like Revenge of the Sith figures and Dragon In Dream (DiD) Samurai series. Collecting other stuff before that even ( and still now). The hobby despite looming clouds is in an amazing place now. Years before, large franchises didn't necessarily get 1/6 figures made. Today, I can find figures for, The Godfather, Gangs of New York, Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul. That speaks to how popular the hobby has become. However, I feel the bubble is about to pop. Hot Toys saw fit to make some pretty left field figures and put them up for pre order. They promptly cancelled them when they got a sense of which way the wind is blowing, hobbywise. The Apple approach of "If you make it, they will buy" no no longer valid. The economy is shaky. Disposable income is not as plentiful and collectors will make harder choices as to what they buy. No longer buying on a lark, but rather laser focused on completing or enhancing a collection. Some will call it quits, but I see it as thinning the herd. I've been doing this since the 90's and don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

As far back as I can remember, I've always been collecting toys of one sort or another going all the way back to the original Star Wars and He-Man toylines. My parents actually enjoyed hunting down the figures for me and my brother, and eventually it became something I became passionate about myself. From those early action figures, to anime scale figures, chogokin (die cast robot figures), then to one sixth, I've always had something to chase. It's gotten particularly crazy lately where it just seems like everything I've been getting is hitting a level I once would have said is "way too much." Flame Toys and Inart have really just shattered any kind of cost limit I used to have, but I still don't think I'm ready for statue tier stuff yet.

My fiancée and I bought a house, and with that came the promise of a ring, I'm going to pay for that for a while, but she's happy. I don't have as much disposable income as before, and I can't really keep up with the hobby. The prices are are out of control, and they seem to be re releasing g alot of old Batman figures. I'm out of space, and I gave up my storage to save money. For any of those who care, I live in Los Angeles, and everything here is very expensive. I probably won't buy another HT figure for a while, besides, my collection is medium. I've sold some figures to buy a TV and couch, it was hard to part with them, but necessary.

Given my income level, each figure is an incredibly high consideration item. it needs to check a lot of boxes and overlap a lot of Venn Diagram circles for me to finally pull the trigger. Not unlike, say, an iPhone, it doesn't diminish the joy to know that a lot of other people own one too. I hope the market doesn't overcorrect for the aforementioned overstock and feed into the scalping as I hate having to pay extortionate speculator markups.

I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, it was pop culture in general that got me started, but it wasn’t until I got older and started to make my own money that my collection has gotten more serious. To me collecting Hot Toys figures is kinda like video games, it comes and goes but you always come back to it no matter what because it’s so much fun! I’ll always be collecting 1/6th figures but now I’m beginning to be more selective on what I collect unlike before where I would preorder anything that’s new and shiny.. I still do but it’s not as crazy as before lol 😂 😅 Recently I’ve gotten into Motorsports and Porsche and started collecting from that genre, but now I’m back for more 1/6th scale figures. And no I haven’t lost interest, I just took a break, cancelled some figures I’m no longer interested in; looking at you Toby Spider-Man 👀 took too dam long to be shipped by sideshow. My next figure I’m adding to my collection is going to be the Bespin Luke Skywalker the deluxe version by hot toys. Thanks for another great insight video on the world of collecting Keco! Have all the spiderman villans needed a few 3rd parties to finish it. I have the main characters from dc and mavel and then a few one off like robocop in chair, terminator and t1000 Jack sparrow and he'll boy to name a couple...I have derro noticed a slow down due to increasing prices for everything petrol food and the figures so meaning now I'm at around 50 60 I've started to sell off the ones that have appreciated in value and made somthing off them and got somthing I want more or sell off one that's on the bottom of my favourites list finally trying to curate my collection....also have 2 moducases spare 1 Is for x men when they are released over the next 4 years and the other is for inart one offs...don't think I will be continuing collecting hot toys as much I rather get 4 inart figures a year which are the best on the market and will find a better chance at holding there value or possibly going up

With problems regarding Inflation, pricing, economy, layoffs etc. Its hard to not get anxious about money and not having fun collecting. I decided to sell most of mine. Only have four left and I might sell them. More of a statue collector now. Sick of hot toys using material that does not last and other things they do. They are way too expensive for what they are.

What was a elite collecting before covid as these items arnt everyday cheap.came the wave of more youtube channels and the eliteness went .it like statue collectors want things even though they didnt want figure .it was the not having what everyone else did .i as said before brought loads .then sat down looked collection went what the hell.if you honest with yourself or anyone .it the drug of collecting that drives them in end not the items .if anyone sat down looked around them whould they want or need every figure going .be honest .

I gotta disagree . Unless you collect on hype or for exclusivity status ( Status in general ) . It shouldn’t matter to you what’s the market value of your collection . Sounds more like wanting to feel superior ,special ,or to view it as an investment ,rather than doing it out of passion for the hobby or IP. Again , not trying to appear judge mental ,it’s just how it sounds to me.

I don't mind exclusives, but thus far the release strategy used by Sideshow has been a mess. They need to address this and give everyone a chance to purchase if they're going to continue releasing such small quantities.

Know what else is a fuqin fact... A figure that goes three or four times what someone paid the day before will kill the fuqin hobby. You can fuqin miss me with you wettin yourself over figures like triple zero selling out before most even see it went up and his buddy isn't numbered. How valuable will your "hobbies" be when there is no one there to buy them? So yeah, get excited to flex on someone because you have what they want (small and petty really). People found this and scalpers ruined it like they did with other collectibles, hasbro is dying and pushed their power rangers out but hey at least those who have the $80 white ranger helmet can try and sell it for $400... Pathetic
