I have a stove that I made from an old steel mailbox and dryer vent tubes. Everything packs inside the mailbox and it works like a charm.

You know that stove can use as keep him warm in the tent also even if he has a bigger fire 🔥🪵🔥 on our side
with such a tent, you can stay at least + 15 in summer, either from the wind or from the rain... but not in winter! Canadian fairy tales)))
Having experienced this personally, I can affirm that living in a tent in the coldest environment is truly challenging. Numerous things can go awry. If you're not quick on your feet, I strongly advise against attempting this.

@@CampfiresandColdBeers There's just something about sitting around a hot stove in a tent when it's really cold out. Having no insects and the ability to cool off really fast by stepping outside sure beat burning up in a tent in the Summer, when you have trouble cooling off. I don't want to leave the tent either in the Summer because I'm a mosquito magnet. I don't want to absorb repellent through my skin or breathe in toxic vapors or smoke from other forms of repellents. People love their Thermacells but they're poisoning themselves with them. Breathe deeply now people because you want to absorb as much pesticide as possible through your lungs. Why won't people think about how Thermacells are poisoning people? How can they be so ignorant?
@CampfiresandColdBeers

Yes! There's something about being out in the cold and warming up. I find a campfire 10x more comforting in winter than any other season. In fact I find it strange that summer is designated as "camping season", but that's just me! I admit I do use a thermacell when I need it, but yup.. the warning label says a lot

@@CampfiresandColdBeers I used to love blizzards but the worst one we ever had here should have taken both of my hands and feet. It broke records by a longshot. Frostbite is no joke. That intense pain from unthawing is a real itch with a b out in front of it. That is some serious pain. I'm glad I have a high pain tolerance. I should be a quadruple amputee. God saved me from that because of all of the prayer that was said for me. That prayer chain was huge. I still like blizzards but not like I used to. I think hot tenting is going to change that and make me like blizzards more again. I've got a couple of battery powered chainsaws and a manual sharpener for the chains which will make it much easier.

Check out: Thermette NZ. They're awesome. I have an one that I first used on a bush track cutting crew in the 70s. Cooked my lunch on my shovel over it sometimes too! Also, skirting your tent with a snow bund will help trap heat in. 👍🏼

How's the stove for not getting smoked out. Every stove I have tried I get seriously smoked out every time I either start the fire for the first 2 hours, or it gets low down to coals within 1 hour 1.5hkurs tops and then I open it and it smokes me out, and when I add wood it then smothers it and smokes me out 10x more to the point where I have too bail out of the tent coughing like customgrow420 after he takes the 1 grab dab haha

I've had my CO detector go off once, but because I had the door open for nearly a minute, rearranging wood inside. I also don't run it while I sleep, not for safety concerns, but I just don't care to wake up every 2 hours to stoke it. I fill it once, close the damper & inlet, and let it burn slow. So far no issues.
R these any good

No complaints so far. It's well built and extremely light (3lb) Still not sure how I feel about the roll up stove pipe, it's compact but I'm constantly debating buying the segmented pipe. Overall it's great, but I do prefer a classic steel stove when weight isn't a concern.

Yup, it doesn't retain heat nearly as well as a canvas tent. As long as the stove is running, it stays warm inside. The benefit to this style of tent is less weight to carry.

@CampfiresandColdBeers
7 ай бұрын
It's possible, if there's not enough snow, not cold enough, stove is too large, running the stove too hot/long. Those factors or a mix of those could definitely cause that. This stove is really small and out of habit I stack some wood underneath it to avoid melting the snow directly below (it's not always necessary). I usually only run it to cook, 1-2 hours before bed and an hour or so in the morning. I just don't care to wake up every couple hours to feed it. I've never had an issue with too much snow melting this way. Thanks for asking!
