    why does everyone slam on the players and commentators. If you don't like it turn off the sound. Quite frankly this match was great entertainment, great shotmaking by both players. Danny Diliberto has accomplished more in his life than any of you youtube trolls. Good job Danny, Francisco and Filler for a nice match. Also miss Ken Schuman commentaries, but he was the ref here which was cool. I appreciate the great vids

    "why does everyone slam on the players and commentators." Because they have nothing better to do, and they know FAR more than a professional pool 'hall of famer', and a guy who was a pro player and the coach for the Mosconi cup, among many other things. Most everyone on YT thinks they are genius oracles, they aren't, except on very rare occasions, like me (kidding, the 'me' part). In most cases they are so far beyond clueless that they have no way to know how clueless they are. My favorite is "I could'a made that shot". Yeah, so could half the 'good' pool players out there, but can they do it as consistently as the pros do it, often shooting 900+ in potting percentages, MINUS errors? Nope, not even remotely. Are they 'at risk', and in fact likely to run at least one decent string of outs in ANY given match? Most of them aren't likely to do that in a given month, and many of these experts have never done it, not once, in their entire lives. Some can't pocket three balls in a row. If pros were lousy, people would go take money from them all the time. They do not, especially not these morons. There were some VERY good shots during this match, like the Boosty shot breaking the 8/whatever up on the rail. Filler had several, as well. Their overall level of play wasn't great here though, compared to their normal levels. It happens. It still puts all these know it alls, mine, and I expect yours, to shame. When you watch them play even VERY excellent amateurs it is often brutal.

    I doubt it. Any pro can beat another pro at any given time. When they play again, almost certainly SVB will win some. And there are players in the world ranked above FIller (not much, I'll grant you) in probably almost every game of pool. I know he is second in ten ball in one governing body, and third in the other. Ko Pin Ye, James Aranas, and Jason Shaw are currently rated higher in two of them (Filler is second in one, third in another, currently). In the future, who knows, he is really darned good.

    I am continually amazed at the plethora of things that folks in these Accu-Stats videos seem to find fault about and criticize. Everything from how the commentators speak, to how bad the camera angles are. And then there are idiosyncrasies of each player. Those critiques are endless. Listen, if one loves the game of pool then it would seem that these ‘smaller’ things would be far outweighed by the enjoyment and pleasure that watching the world’s greatest play brings. Seems like that if you love some thing or some one, then you learn over time to make allowances for those critiques knowing that the good and pleasure they bring you far outweighs those smaller things. I’m willing to watch a little ‘magic’ on the table, and endure a little ‘nose picking’ at the same time. I am grateful for these videos and all of the efforts that so many put into them.

    Just a few random thoughts that occurred to me while watching this match: 1) It's nice to see incoming and outgoing generations of greats play each other, even if neither one was 'on' his game. I already know that both of these two would spellbind if they were. 2) Will someone please put the final nail in the coffin of that (compost) criticism about a shooter missing because 'he jumped up on the shot'? Even some people who are far from professional level (like me, for instance) can tell a split second after they've 'pulled the trigger' on a shot that it's failing. So (except for new players, perhaps), the 'jump-up' is usually a RESULT of the bad shot; NOT the CAUSE of it. 3) At this point, after so many decades of low-grade camera work covering these matches, i can't help wondering how big a role that has played in the reasons why pocket billiards hasn't gained more popularity.

  • @MrJdsenior

    @MrJdsenior

    "the 'jump-up' is usually a RESULT of the bad shot; NOT the CAUSE of it." If you really believe that, do a little experiment. Shoot 25 balls on a shot that you can make say 75% of the time. Do this twice, same shot each time. On one set jump up each shot. On the other set stay carefully down, and still. I think you will discover your statement to be incorrect. I know that EVERY pool coach, including professional level, that I have heard weigh in on the subject directly disagree with what you are saying here. The other two points have merit, I think.

  • @marginality270

    @marginality270

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@MrJdsenior Apparently, what you heard is not what i said. (Because, there is no experiment that could possibly address what i did say.) I didn't say that jumping up _couldn't_ cause a missed shot. I said it _didn't_ cause one in most of the cases when commentators (in general) said it did, because the jump-up actually occurs a fraction of a second *after* the cue ball has left the tip of the stick.

    Wow. @6:52 Bustamante basically had to shoot that Z shot from the Efren-Earl Sands 12-12. It requires accurately predicting the arc just to make the hit. Great shot. And I'm guessing over the years of talking to Efren about it he's probably shot it a few more times than most people have. Granted, the obstructing ball off the 2nd rail is absent, but it's still very similar. Try it some time.

    Agree also, if they want to jump, use a player cue, then it brings the difficulty level up more on par with kicking. Jumping with a jump cue for a pro is often just too easy an 'out' from a well set safety. A really well planned and executed safety deserves better than that. On amateur level tourneys, go for it.

And play him a few games while you are at it, just so he knows what your suggestions are worth (as if he didn't already). And BTW, Boosty beat Efren many many times. so there's that. Maybe you should put your brain in gear before you put your keyboard in motion. Just sayin'. Reading down through these comments is a freakin riot, yours takes almost top billing, so far. And there are pool players playing right now that will likely beat Efren's tournament records. Many already have, for certain events. Stop mythologizing Efren. Amazing pool player, probably one of the best, and well loved, but not a god, not remotely.

    @@MrJdsenior What I mean is very simple and straight-forward. Ask someone to read and try to explain this to you: This match is from the 2019 Derby City Classic. With BCA’s 2017/2018 edition of Billiards: The Official Rules and Records Book came changes to the rules of several games. Ten Ball is one of them. Ten Ball is now a call-shot game, and THE 10 BALL MUST BE THE LAST BALL ON THE TABLE. (There are other changes, too.) From the 2017/2018 and the 2021/2022 editions, here is an excerpt from the Ten Ball rules: “9.8 Continuing Play If a shooter legally pockets a called/nominated ball on a shot (except a push out; see 2.4 Second Shot of the Rack - Push Out), any additional balls pocketed remain pocketed (except the ten ball; see 9.9 Spotting Balls)’and he continues at the table for the next shot. IF THE PLAYER NOMINATES AND LEGALLY AND LEGALLY POCKETS THE TEN BALL PRIOR TO THE TEN BALL BEING THE LAST REMAINING BALL, THE TEN BALL IS RE-SPOTTED AND THE SHOOTER CONTINUES. …” (Emphasis mine.) They’re playing by the old rules in this match (and others). If they pocket the 10 while there are still other balls on the table, they win. So, I ask again: After 3 or 4 years… Oops! - My bad.) … After a year or two (the time between the rule-changes and this match), why do they still play by the old rules? It’s a reasonable question, and I’m sure it has a reasonable answer. I’m curious. Do they play by rules other than BCA? APA? Are tournament directors rejecting the rule-change? I like the rule-changes. Ten Ball used to be the same game as Nine Ball, but with an extra ball. Now, they’re two very different games. I like that.

And dude, calling what Filler did in THIS match 'pool perfection' only shows how minuscule your level of understanding of the game of pool is. He played pretty poorly here, by pro standards, which he would also be the first to admit. The stats demonstrated that. Playing like he did here, if Boosty had been on, he would have gotten trounced...no question. Filler would be the first to admit that, as well. Boosty was having an as bad or worse night. Bustamante has done something weird with his stroke ... adding another pause just after he initially follows through. Very odd. He's always addressed the ball to the LEFT of where he actually strikes it. Don't believe me..? See for yourself: To watch in frame by frame slow motion ... pause the video, then, use the period key to move forward a frame or comma to go back one frame at a time.

    Busta lost control of the cue ball when he shot the 3. He thought the 7 ball would stop the cue ball but he hit the 7 too thin and it went to the rail and snookered him. He should have played the cue ball to go straight to the rail and bounce back to the center of the table. He must have been tired from so much playing.

    Bustamante had the win but I think psychologically he got too excited about the prospects of winning against a hot shit player like young filler and then began overthinking his shots. That's why he gave away 3 games.

    Filler's shot for position on the 9 (~1:34:40) did NOT hit the point! It clearly hit the end rail and check english did the rest! Come on!

    Effren and Busta swing that stroke like they're paddling a boat. How the hell do they make a ball like that? Their machanics are shit. But cant argue with success. I've seen guys like that b4. They can run em out. People have talked about my stroke I shoot mostly open bridge. Like I said. Can argue with success. After watching for a few games I can see this table is a little funny. It might be a little fast and has a slight roll on top of that. Meaning a little too far and to one side or the other. They're both struggling a little with that I can see.

    Really? Have you ever used one? They actually work pretty well, especially with new matched set of good balls. Most of the pros I have seen comment on them say they make a more consistent good rack, with proper usage. Watch SVB, he has using them down to an art form. Probably because he's done it about three trillion times. Are they perfect, no. Are they good, yes.

    Pretty sure neither of those is true. I think a couple of the Chinese players are ranked #1, and Boosty is definitely not 'too old'. His game was off here, like everyone's is at times. I don't exactly think I would write him off though. He is libel to beat ANYONE on a good day, including Filler. If you think he's too old, go put your money on the table and play a few matches against him. Beat him, and maybe your comment might mean something. Let me know how that goes for ya. :-/ And BTW, Filler's was not remotely stellar here, either, compared to his norm, or even the norms for top level pool play, of which both of these gentlemen are members in good standing. I know, don't feed the trolls. My bad.
