Don't think Shaw wasn't playing a psychological game here. Shane had a heartbreaking first couple racks and Shaw smelled blood. It's not a typical thing to notice exactly, but early in the match he showed complete disregard for Shane. He was inspecting his break cue obsessively like Shane didn't exist. He had total table presence and then set up a breakneck playing speed that Shane adopted. Shaw played flawlessly, and the tempo he created got Shane to make perhaps the worst, most amateurish shot I've ever seen him make in the last rack.

OK, what am I missing here? All ball in hand shots in the match were restricted to behind the head string--until Shaw's b-i-h shot on the 5 ball in the last rack, below the foot string (1:06:50). How come?

Its sad that there are no youngsters/teens younger audiences for these matches is a bit of a downer tbh. The pool to watch is awesone but the audiences are like zombie OAPs, the ref looks like hes crawled out of some grave from the 1800s its depressing man. We need more younger viewers just to liven shit up coz really the background is depressing to watch. Im sorry but its true,, you dont see this with snooker its an all age kinda deal and real good fun. To me this is like playing pool in a morgue!!! The pool is outstanding but they really do need extra support and more screaming and shouting you know..

That's a pretty good point about making it more appealing to watch for all ages. The positives are SO good. Two of the best players. Crisp play. Great equipment and sharp outfits. Great strategic and relatable game of 8 ball. Incredible production value. And JJ is the best there is for expert commentary. The negatives are obvious though. It's not just age. Plenty of older people are more dynamic. The morgue comment is harsh but true. The ads here should be for Viagra and defibrillators and scooters. They sold those high end seats with name tags to a certain type of attendee, probably to charge a lot. Most didn't show up or fell asleep at the buffet. If you compare that "look" to ones where fans gather around and the most enthusiastic fans get in the frame, there's no comparison. The thing the sport has always lacked has been youth appeal and watchability. 8 ball helps a lot but the atmospherics really do matter.

Now this is how you play pool... Nice quick pace, not taking 5 mins per shot on an open table... These guys are a prime example of how the game is played... Not walking around the table for an hour before shooting... Sorry but the up n coming generation of players on the Pro Tour take too long... Just sayin
