    I have learned that the only acceptable commentary for pool is something like, “Efren is thinking about a shot. I cannot speculate about anything he may do because he is the GOAT. Oops he missed the shot. That must have been his plan all along because Efren is the GOAT. Efren made a shot. Of course he made the shot. He is the GOAT.”

    Best One Pocket Match I have ever seen

  • @MrJdsenior
    @MrJdsenior4 жыл бұрын

    Start it @ 2:24:44. You can see Pagulayan clowning about "how in the heck" am I supposed to extract this ball from that deep in that pocket. Then you can INSTANTLY see his face change 100% to sheer concentration when he SEES whatever the hell it is he sees. Near as I can tell that extraction involved a double kiss, and one that had to be executed, for all practical purposes, perfectly, to make the second kiss occur a MINUTE distance past the line orthogonal to the pocket side, just a mil too much and scratch guaranteed. It was an AMAZING shot. I've commented several times that it amazes me how REALLY good one pocket players are incredible at doing this, but that shot, in my book, is the ultimate example I have ever witnessed. I know a goodly amount about simple physics, and I'm not sure i would have thought that possible, without seeing it...STELLAR execution. If my damned pool hall ever opens back up, I'm going to have to play with that shot. At my level of skill might take me twenty or more tries, (;-P ) but, by god, I'm gonna make it happen, just to witness it in person. Amazing and incredible are vastly overused, but in this case, for me, they are 100% applicable. Efren's two rail bang out of the opposite corner out of his own was pretty spectacular, too, and Pagulayan's obvious joy at seeing it (humongous smile, eyes involved), WHEN the shot cost him the game, puts him way up in the "class act" category. Fun match to watch. Not the finish I wanted to see...typical "reward" for a well played shot (Pagulayan's final). Personally, I don't know who the commentators were here, but it was VERY good commentary...obviously highly knowledgeable, great analysis of options (including reasoning for) and completed shots. I learned several things. Thanks.

    This is probably the third different commentator I've seen on youtube who refers to Efren as "Efrem." It drives me crazy. Show some respect and get the name right. He is, after all, one of the greatest pool players of all time. He might even be THE greatest player of all time. EFREM? Good God.

    have known danny from miami for years, and it is a fair knock that not everybody leaves a bank every time. He hypothizes just a little bit, but give him his due: he is a killer straight pool player, and plays all the games very well for decades. Perhaps someone will talk to him about refining his commentary so as to impart more of his wisdom and less of his chattering. I got to play him one pocket one long day and got reamed, destroyed, beaten by a focused, dedicated pool maestro. I learned something; i mimic the way he chalks- he grabs the shaft 18 inches from the tip, and applies the blue powder by grabbing the shaft that way. Unusual. Miami in the 70's had danny and mike morillo as ninja assassins in pool halls long closed for years.

    End of second game commentator says two nothing Alex when it's 2-0 Efren. One of the commentators is calling Efren Efrem. I find these commentators annoying. I find most commentators annoying. These are two of the top six one pocket players in the world. I could care less what shot the commentator would play. Maybe just try to keep track of which player has which pocket. Best commentator ever: Box Patterson on POV Pool. He discussed the strategies and tactics of the game rather than trying to forecast what shot the player is going to play. Daniel Busch does that all the time and more than half the time he is wrong. You don't hear commentators in any other sport trying to outguess the players themselves. All that said this is some extremely high level one pocket!

    Who are these commentators ? I don't care for their Arrogant style.... Are they that good ? "Should have done this... Should have done that..." Who are they to CRITICIZE the Best Players in the World. Appreciate and Admire..

    Another commentator gripe: explaining the most basic elements of the game an hour into a match. No one who doesn't understand the game is going to watch it for an hour. It's like soccer. If you don't understand it then it is a total bore. Don't assume someone who knows nothing about the game "tuned in" midway through the match. KZread doesn't work that way.

    PLease put in the Title how this is all being played on an impossibly Long 10 foot diamond. Also for the sake of accuracy it would help if the commentators would remind the viewers that this table is super long and table length bank shots are proof of their god like status in pool. Much respect to these incredible players

    When i play 1 pocket i made up a rule that the guy that makes the one ball wins the game if you cant run 8 balls i think its a good way to protect the 1 ball and it makes the game more intresting.

    If you understand 1 pocket you see all the options pretty easily but with Efren he makes shots that weren't thought of as options to us normal pool players. The Shot he makes to win the game on the final ball is one we play with when we're hitting balls but it's so low percentage to people like me.

    Guys, let's get real, yes Efren is a great player, maybe the best ever. But when he back cut that 1 ball into the corner pocket at 13:44 the guys on commentary were like WOW, that was amazing. Reality check, it was a simple back cut any 6 handicap in APA makes every day, it was not that hard, I could make that cut shot 100 times out of 100, and I am not Efren. So get real, and stop falling all over yourself over a routine short little back cut just because it was Efren that made it. Notice that after Efren made the back cut on the 1 ball, only a few people in the crowd even applauded, because they knew it was not that hard of a shot. But the guys on commentary were losing their mind and saying wow that was incredible, when it was a routine back cut any good pool player makes every day.

    When I played ER @ HTB (losing the hotseat & finals to him) he went to look at the object ball's target & "stayed down" on his shots in 2008. A lot of pros experiencing confidence and caring/focusing issues are "getting/jumping up" on shots. Check'em out. Mika was doing this with Hawaiian Jimmy on the GT's 9-6 and the cracks match earlier this year.
