I don't know if this helps much Mary, but you should make a generalized packing list for yourself and keep it on your wall or somewhere where you can look at it for reference. So that way when you need to pack you don't have to think so much just follow the list. 🙂 I hope you don't stay in the hospital long.

Mary, praying your NJ placement went well today.....you are crazy, beautiful brave!! I had my oral surgery this morning....sinus lift, bone graft & tooth implant. Praise God for twlight sedation!! Your perspective about your port helping your body and being a part of you is how I'm looking at my implant......it was such a traumatic road for me to this point & Grief in losing a tooth my team & I worked so hard to save 6 yrs ago, only for the infection to return & have to lose it a few months ago. I'm praying for a smooth recovery for you & me. Cheering on from Chicago!!!

today i wound up at the hospital i can not eat and it is not helping my sickle cell so i am getting a nj not looking foward to it. i watched all your blongs since november of last year and watching you guys really help when i am stuck in bed or at the hopital and i have to say thaks so much

Ooh maybe since you're in a children's hospital you'll get the swaggin' gold heart stickers that the babies get for their ng/j tubes. That would add to the accessorizing abilities of your tube.

Thank you so much for this video. In July 2020 I was diagnosed with gastropareasis. We have tried many tubes like NGs NDs and today I got my first NJ. I was so scared but everyone was so kind. Thank you so much you are a inspiration and so brave. You keep me going.

A little tip for you... when I had my NJ tube I coughed a lot as well and the tube moved, the tape moved... they had to reinsert the tube a couple times. To avoid ALL of that when you have coughing attacks hold the tube against your face/nose/stabilize it. I figured this out towards the second half of my 9 day hospital stay. I found your channel about a year or so ago and I am so thankful that I did! I was recently diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (IC) right before Christmas. It's a chronic bladder disease. I really struggled with the diagnosis because my mom also has it so I have watched her go through it. But through you guys I have found strength and courage. People with IC don't usually get diagnosed until they are in their 30s or 40s and the disease has already done a lot of damage to the bladder. And I'm so thankful that I was able to get diagnosed early at 23. I just started having treatments where I have to get them once a week and as I was getting ready for one today I found myself feeling upset and angry at my body. But then as I was laying on the table something clicked and I said to myself that I wasn't going to be sad or angry at my body anymore because God has had this plan for me from the beginning and that I'm not fighting through it alone. So I'm choosing to laugh through the pain and keep fighting on! So thank you Mary and Peter for your testimony and for sharing your life with all of us! Send prayers your way and hope that this NJ tube works out well for you Mary. Do whatcha think you can't do! And don't forget to laugh everyday! 💜💜

Agreed! I love the children's hospital. Starting going there when I was 5 for my physical disabilities. I am 20 now and still go there. Still the same doctors and have had 8 surgeries there. The doctors and nurses really are fantastic.

Praying the NJ placement goes/went well! I was so excited yesterday to order my shirt! I had classes so I didn't get home till late and I was worried they would be sold out already, but they weren't !! I'm praying for you both. I thought about you, Mary, a lot today. I had a dr app 4 hrs. away from where I live, and it was a rough trip. I had a horrible time breathing, and the dr app didnt go good, but I'm ok. Mom and I laughed and cried, and had a good time together. God is taking care of me.

I have a J tube too! Although mine is surgically placed in my abdomen, not a nasal one. I have Dysautonomia and Gastroparesis. I also have an Enterra Gastric Stimulator Implant (looks like a pacemaker, but the leads attach to my stomach wall, not my heart, and the battery is located under the skin in my abdomen, not my chest) I have a video about my J tube on my channel, although since mine isn't an NJ I don't know how much of the info is applicable to your situation. Also, I know several people who have been through lung transplants. I have a couple friends with Pulmonary Hypertension who had to get heart and double lung transplants. CyberneticRose Just wanted to say hi. I also have Dysautonomia, and gastroperesis, have used a j tube for feeds for most of the last 5 years. I Definetly prefer the surgically placed variety. My GI wants to do a gastric pacemaker but still undecided on that since I already have a cardiac pacemaker. Did you know there are two new drugs for Gastroperesis going through trials right now?

CyberneticRose lol! Yes cyborg buddies, my little sister had the hardest time when I got my pacemaker, said it turned me into a robot lol! I figure a robot with a life is a better option lol! my GI said they're about a year and a half from being released on the market.

Prayers Mary's NJ tube placement went smoothly! I'm not sure you guys will have time to see this but I thought maybe you could use a laugh right about now. My friend had an NJ tube and was getting tired & frustrated of all the "do you have cancer" or "when did you go on oxygen"? questions when she went out. So she somehow taped a Starbucks cup to the tube when she went out. NOBODY asked any questions ever again, they just laughed and kept walking! lol Mary, you remind me of a younger version of my friend Genny. Genny has charcot marie tooth muscular dystrophy. I've got an NJ tube in place also Mary I've had it for the last year and I would say it's horrible when it first gets placed as all you end up doing is gagging all the time but after about 1 week mine started to settle down now it's just like another part of my body the only thing I really get conscious of is people staring at you all the time but needs must I hope you starting feeling better on the nutritional side once your feed starts to kick into your body an gives you more energy you an Peter are such a strong courageous couple and I admire you so much x

Hey, my name is Mari and I am from Norway. I want to tell you that I and my boyfriend have been watching your channel for a half year, and you are so good, awesome and inspiering people. And I think you Mary is realy strong, brave and have a beutiful soul. I am so sorry that you feel worse, and need more nutrition. I also have a chronical illness that does me need a jejunal feeding tube. For a while I had the one tru the nouse, but now I have a pej-tube (mic-key style) in my stomack. This button is realy helping me getting my nutrition :)) I want to tell you a little bit of my ecsperience getting the tube. Its not so nice getting it down, but if you relax and drink a lot of wather its get so more easier and better. When you get it down, you will be a bit nursea, but almost all of it will past when it is under your oesophagus. The first two days you can feel sore, and you also want to swallow all the time. But that will go over, after these days, and then you will not feel something at all :)) I use to do my feeding during the night, but you also get a backpack that you can bring with you (the feeding pump will then be with you). I hope this helped you :) And that my english was okey to understand, hihi. Hugs and love from Mari.

The Frey Life just a little tip if no one has mentioned it. I had to have an NG tube a few years ago and I also have lung disease so I cough a lot and anything in my throat antagonizes the coughing. My best friend until my throat got used to the tube was chloraseptic to numb it. It really helped to keep how my throat was feeling from causing more coughing attacks. Also drinking lots of fluids seems to help once you don't have a constant irritation anymore just the occasional tickle. Hope your placement went okay. Praying you won't need it for long.
