I'm a big believer that when a patient has an inclination that either something isn't right or that they may know how to fix it...you should probably listen to them!

That first line.... not what we planned for the new year but at least we are together. The perfect sentiment.

I understand the IV difficulties , I'm a 40 something NF1 patient and my veins are very fragile. They collapse and blow all the time. I've learned that the anesthesia team rocks at getting IVs in.

That's the one thing I've learned is to listen to my intuition and/or that small voice even when it makes no sense. It's saved my life several times. I'm so glad you spoke up and then just did it! That's another lesson is that we as patients can get away with more than clinicians when something is questionable.

Well done Mary!! You aced this. You could be a phlebotomist or a nursing sister by now!! You avoided further hassles...how awesome. Excellent! Lovely closing photo of the two of you.

Ok, you might think I'm a total creeper...but my mom Carmen and I watch you videos every day, then we talk about you two as if you are family. Well, we DO feel that way. We both just love you positive outlooks and attitudes. I ordered a print and the ornaments for my mom for Christmas, and,in front of 12 family members, we both broke out crying and blubbering about how much we love you all...

I also love it when hospitals are knowledgeable about basic cf infection control! It makes you feel like a VIP patient! Lol

Switched from Children's in July, and the J-Tip has been very missed this admission...probably 7 IV attempts in 5 days, and this 18 year old is not handling it well!! You are pretty lucky you get to be in a kids hospital!
