ok this one is for the dad of the girl that adopted holly you made the right call its a beautiful starter horse and your choice too not only help the horse but also teach your daughter the right way with the animals
Horse rescue is like the starfish story, where the little boy asked a stranger why he was throwing only the few starfish into the ocean, that he could, when there were so many along the miles of beach. The old man replied "I made a difference for that one, I'm happy to make a difference where I can." And it's so true. We maybe cannot rescue all the horses, but the ones we can rescue, are grateful for it.
OMG! That little girl was adorable herself!!!
This makes my heart happy seeing the horses get adopted and going to new homes ! I sure miss riding and working with horses. I just talking about compassion fatigue today.
The belgian is looking so much better already! I'm so glad to see that! God bless the Horse Plus Humane Society staff.

Definately already gained some weight, that poor baby was just a walking skeleton. Gaining weight is such a good sign, especially when they're suffering from another condition. I'm kreping my fingers crossed for this beauty.

Of course only if he wanted to be interviewed. Just a thought. I know lots of viewers love to hear what Doc has to say. God bless you guys and these beautiful animals! Thank you so much for reporting on the Belgian mare. She does look much better. I've been hoping all week that she would get better. I know it will take time, just Thank You for all you're doing. I miss being able to ride and be around horses. Watching your series helps me to feel well, almost like I'm there too. Keep us the effort and good work. Much love and warmest regards.

They are all so precious! And so are you all! God bless every one of you and all horses, ponies and donkeys everywhere!
Wonderful people wonderful work! My only worry is that some people who adopt your rescues are too big and too heavy for the horses they go home with. Is this a cultural thing? I have noticed that a lot of US riders are too big for their horses.
It's hard to get through the adoption episodes without crying! I love the work you do!

I just love this little girl. Sharing her feelings is worth gold because she shares from the heart - pure and sweet. I wish her many happy days ahead with her new best friend!
What amazing adoptions! I’m sure Raven will find a home soon; she’s gorgeous and looks like a ton of fun! My favorite horse I ever rode was a super peppy 20+ year old gaited Blue Roan TWH with one good eye-the old girls sure can be surprising! I’m glad to see HPHS accessing the seminar on compassion fatigue, it is so impactful in this field and in veterinary medicine.
Thank you for believing in horses others would not, I cry quite a lot when watching these. I love you guys and thanks
The suffering never will end until humans stop reveling their superiority over other life forms and I don't see that happening any time soon. In the mean time, thank you for what you do.
Another epic episode. I could watch and listen to Doc and Jessie talk horses all day. Fascinating.
God bless you all I haven't seen such dedication and keeping them horses there will be fun memories don't feel bad sometimes you can't save them all I love horses more than any other animal on Earth they've done so much for us sometimes I cry when I see the shape that these horses in take pride in knowing that you got the right people for the job and take care of yourself because without you these animals wouldn't exist God bless you
It will be interesting to see an episode about the selection process of candiates for horse adoptions. How is the match done between future owners and the horses🤓.
Another great episode. I’d be interested to see a follow up in their new homes. Especially the ones that are really poorly when they first arrive x
I love your doc he is amazing. Very compassionate man. You are so lucky to have him.

"I've been known to climb through windows" 😂
I got a 17 year old mare, she came from summer pasture, so she was shoeless, and I decided to keep her that way. During the 3 years I had her, the amount of change going through her body, just from being barefoot. The barefoot trimmer that I used, was exceptional and she got really impressed with how much change she made. After 2 years, she was sound on any terrain and she got trimmed twice a year, because she had straightened up so much, that she was self trimming. The back feet straightened up during the first year, but I used boots on the front hoof for another year, on and off, depending on where we were planning on going, and how long the ride would be. I trained her every day, we changed between halter walks, working both on and off in the round pin and trail rides. If I am getting a horse again, I will definitely do barefoot again, it's a journey, but it really pays off in the end.. Feed had a lot to do with the success in hoofcare. (she had a tendon injury that stopped us from ever doing shows, and I got sick, so she is living the pensioner life with another old horse)
I love all these videos 💗 I love what all of you are doing.

Thankyou for talking about compassion fatigue, it's a really important topic more people in all areas of life should be aware of and how to take time to recharge their own batteries.
I had no choose in giving up my horses . I sold them to someone I trusted. My Palimino was sold for slaughter, my Morgan did find good home. The pain of lose will never ease, but I am warmed by these horses being saved.

I see the love and caring you all pour out on the animals, and know you need times of renewal for yourselves. I am amazed at how many animals you are able to help. God bless you all. Ellen
I would seriously have to work on emotional training, seeing the condition of some the ones you save. But I would so be willing to volunteer at a shelter to work through this, knowing that I have made a difference and also to help a horse pass without fear as I apparently have a calming effect ability. : )
One of my dad's friend had a young deer. It was out of shape, so I started running with it to help it's cardio. It is now an adult and is healthy!

You guys are doing a great job Nanette
So happy to see all those adoptions! Great job you guys! Love from Massachusetts.
I feel sorry for the horse that will be in boarding aka a stall most of his time. I'm concerned about that because horses are herd animals and a horse in a stall next to him is really not enough. I hope that the boarding place also has pastures or that this lady finds another place for him. Big thumbs up to the adopter who rides her horses bitless.
@lynnbetts4332
3 жыл бұрын
Many gaited horses are ridden with hackamores. But hackamores can be worse than bits in the wrong hands. If a horse has been ridden with a bit for 10 years, they may not transition to a hackamore. Just like one ridden in a hackamore for years will mouth and try to spit a bit out. Each horse has to be tested and worked with to see what is best for them.

After watching this in the U.K. I was wondering the same. It’s worrying to see a 14.2 which is not far from being a pony, being expected to carry someone who is over their weight carrying ratios. Seems to be cruel and not great for their backs .

@@CatScreenTime Hi. That’s a fair comment, I have been around horses and been lucky enough to have them in my life for about 40 years and would say horses rarely buck and these rescues are so down trodden they don’t have the will or energy to buck.

@iimdone

they have mounting blocks, but they only use it if the horse is being consistently ridden while training and this has been stated in past episodes. otherwise, if its just for show in adoptions, they dont find it necessary. it's good desensitization for the horses anyway. im pretty sure they know whats best, they take amazing care of their horses.

Those people stole my mule pony. Okay, it wasn't mine and I can not adopt another equine right now but, omg it is so CUTE!
You do a truly fantastic job guys. Thank you very much for all the love you freely offer these poor animals. However, I have just one thing to ask if I may please? You ladies are well trained and appear full of unconditional love and hence full of support - so why do you use a painful bit in their mouths? In this video you highlighted the horse that was being ridden as previously not having being ridden with a bit. But here you make the poor horse endure a torturous chunk of metal in their mouths. Thanks again, Dave 🇬🇧
I hope you put your brand on them prior to their adoption so they will be always able to be identified easily visually from a quick look .This way they will alway be recognised as one of your s if they end up back in an auction and you can be contacted
