Freak out! Nah. If he had freaked out you wouldn’t see the tourist’s for dust. He was a bit pissed off and he had a dance which I really enjoyed watching but freaking out No Way. I love how the guard handled him…. So calmly Well Done to him. 👏 Why people can’t just back off and leave them both alone I just don’t understand…. Mind you can’t expect anything less with people that have No Brain’s. Good on you Guard 💂♀️ Good on you Horse 🐎. But freak out…. Nah don’t think so ❤

Love the smile the Guard gives to his fellow Guard. Made me smile.😃🤣 Great Comradeship they have for each other.🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧👍
It's good the groom made the gelding stand quietly under the arch for a bit before they took him back in. So he doesn't learn that popping out onto the sidewalk gets him a reward of going back to the stable. I think his face was just really itchy. He kept trying to rub his head on anyone standing next to him. It's gotta be tough for the guard to try to control a fractious horse with just one hand, while making your right hand useless, just holding a ceremonial sword. It can't be an easy, or comfortable job. I admire these guards with what they have to deal with.

I agree with you. It would be rewarding unwanted behavior if the horse was taken immediately back. Taking the easy way out ( bringing the horse back immediately) could very well cause the horse to do that everytime from then on. What happens to the horse if that occurs?

WOW he really did do well. Cracking Guard but that horse wanted none of it. Bless him. Incredible guard though ❤
A horse I used to ride in my youth did a similar thing at traffic lights and was determined that he wasn’t going forward. The more I urged him forward the more he would back up and he was rearing up as well. It seemed to last for an eternity and I was mortified because cars were queuing up behind me and my horse was backing up and playing up being a right little stinker. To make matters worse someone suddenly stepped off the pavement and grabbed the reins and my horse turned and bit him a cropper!😅 And then lunged forwards and clattered up the road with me bumping a little at the fastest trot imaginable! 😂 Horses are powerful animals and these guards are amazing horsemen. They are controlling their horses with one hand on the reins, and they are so calm and collected. I personally don’t think crowds should be allowed to go up close to these horses. I hate watching children and adults alike wiggling their fingers up at the horse’s mouth and it’s got it’s ears pinned and is trying to bite. It’s kind of teasing the horse and encouraging it to bite.

Don't you just hate all the "Know Alls" with their criticism of the horses and riders? Cavalry riding is not quite the same as tottering around the countryside on a pet horse. As someone on another site said, these are the descendants of those horses at Blenheim, The Crimea, Waterloo, and in my Great Uncles case ,The Khyber Pass and Suid Afrika. They are bred as war horses and even if you are a good horseman at home a totally different way of riding and controlling is needed and trained and bred into these fine animals. By the way do you understand now what a splendid horsewoman HMQE2 was when she controlled her horse when someone used a pop gun ...riding side saddle ! Brilliant !
@patriciaphillips2479
Жыл бұрын
Thank You Jose for explanation. Yes I remember thinking at the time that HMQEII remained in control of the horse she was riding and riding side saddle. Also she and the horse knew each other. HMQEII was not a 'drama queen' (no pun intended), just quietly doing what was needed and 'got on with the job'.
Respekt the Horse and the Guards. Bloody Tourist.
“I got my dancing shoes on, we’re gonna dance!” What a cute smile the guard has 🥰 I don’t believe these tourists. After the guards finally somewhat calm a distressed horse they only think of crowding the horse to get their photos.

I wondered what is going on with this horse's eyes, especially the left. He was certainly uncomfortable and attempting to express it. I have worked with horses my entire life, still am at 81. Normally well behaved horses that "act up" often have a physical cause.

And this is why we can't fence off the box they stand at...however much we wish they could

The horse is irritated because he's fighting with the bit in his mouth. It hurts him. Being in a small space and surrounded by disrespectful humans doesn't help. Suggestion: Try a bitless bridle.
The Horse has a sore mouth, but you need to stop these people pulling on their bits and poking their faces and eyes it’s Torture for them. It’s animal cruelty dressed up in Pomp and Ceremony. I’m sorry but I have already commented but I have just watched it again. Dancer or prancer ❤I just love this horse such a fantastic character. Guard certainly kept his cool…. Good on you but I do love your horse ❤
Look how the tourists swarm around that poor emotionally ravaged horse....
Oh my word the people have seen this poor beautiful horse stressing out and yet still try to crowd it after they calm him somewhat. Only for the horse to stress out again. I cannot believe it.
I'm surprised there's not a whole lot more of these videos with almost all of these horses unhappy/uncomfortable with their bits. I would love to see the curb bit up against the corners of the mouth (no wrinkles), not hanging down a half inch or more. But I think that the presence of the snaffle negates that. Yes, there's a school of thought for leaving the bit loose so the horse holds it where he prefers. I've tried it both with young horses and with "made" ones. ALL protested in much the same way. Just my humble opinion after 5o+ years owning, training multiple breeds, riding, driving, competing, and instructing.
Guard had to be so tired after work that day.
Of course he is stressed, look at all this people everyday near to him 😢

People who don’t know horses don’t realise that even well trained ones have their own way of behaving at times. They are animals not statues. That’s the reason for the signs. This is why people shouldn’t take liberties with the horses. Mine never liked a particular veranda over a shop near where I used to walk with her. The guard knows what he’s doing. There’s just something that’s rattling that horse at that time.
