Hororata river rockhounding: finding some agates and then giving them a cut in New Zealand

It's been quite a while since I have made an agate hunting video as I have been focusing on my fossil hunting channel but I decided to go have a quick look around the Hororata river as we had some good rains.
I find a few agates and then give them a cut on my 10" Kiwi saw which I have been fixing up.

You found a few nice ones there! I especially like the ones with moss in them. The green rhyolite is pretty, even if it didn't contain agate. Fun, thank you for taking us along!

What a fun hunt! Felt a little bad for your poor digits in the chilly water, so was glad to hear that it warmed up a little. The occasional bird calls and the look at the mountains through the clouds were real treats. Very much agreed, the jasper will probably polish up very nicely. (Was that a bit of tiger striping in it?) The small agate nodule with the ghostly banding in it might, too, especially if it might have some of those white lace structures. Definitely enjoyed your post-cut photography again, especially of the mossy agate. It's great to see the spatial world inside the rock. Thank you for showing that. The host rock rhyolite is gorgeous! Does it usually have those sprays of tan flecking in the green? Are there pieces out there that show the motion of the rock? It's really beautiful. Thank you for taking us along on this adventure!

Thanks so much for the great comment! Glad you enjoyed the video. I've ordered some polishing material so hopefully I can do those agates justice!

Your little jar is milk glass, probably holding face cream, maybe Ponds Face cream. Seems like they this used all over the world! I have found many of these and yes, it is old. Beautiful agate and jasper finds on this cold grey day, Mamlambo . ☺️

That green rhyolite (or whatever it is) is nice! Looks great! I think green rhyolite is quite unusual so that's definitely a "keeper"!
