How do you guy's run traps when it gets frozen ground? Do you use waxed dirt?
@HoosierTrapperSupply

Waxed dirt is the best however we normally don't get it made. We typically use Cover Hulls. Peat moss is also good.

Have you guys ever had any trouble with split rings?I've had 3 catch circles with brand mb's gone ,just earth anchor sticking up !private land and gated@i think stolen,landowner thinks equipment failer,all brand new this year

Hard to say without being there to see but we have never had issues with split rings failing. If I had to guess I would say someone took your catch and trap. If it was only 1 trap missing then maybe not but 3 times is very unlikely.
@HoosierTrapperSupply

I might also add that every trap we use and every coyote caught was held with a split ring. We do recommend examining hardware after a catch no matter what you are using to make sure everything is o.k.

Traps are frozen in the ground What to do about it?
@HoosierTrapperSupply

May have to wait for a thaw. Trap covers such as: coverhulls, peat moss, and waxed dirt along with salt, or glycol will keep traps functional.

Why don’t y’all like the darker dogs? I’m in NC and most of them here are really dark and I personally think they look better than the lighter ones

The pale colors with white bellies is based on what the fur market desires. Coyotes range considerably in color, particularly in the east. Hard to find good colored coyotes east of the Mississippi.

I was always told to try and remove as much blood from the ground from a dispatched critter when doing a remake. Does this really matter?
@HoosierTrapperSupply

We don't worry about it, a lot of times we do cover up the big pools of blood. I think it adds to the attraction of the area/set. May need to make a clean set nearby. Many times coyotes will shy away from catch circles You can't remove it all, pretty much impossible - particularly to the senses of a coyote.
