I use the same thing to keep the carpenter bees away . I also have one of those log hooks the old ones that my Dad used pulling logs out of the woods with mules.

Yes, it was really nice of them to send us that piece of equipment because I can certainly use that in the woods. It’s quite heavy so it’ll be a little awkward, especially on a slippery hill back in the sticks, but it will certainly help and probably keep me from having to try to work a chain underneath the log so that I can wrap it around to hook it

@@OutpostReview You can use a stiff wire to go under the log and hook the chain to it and pull the chain under the log so you can hook it up to the winch line. Hope this helps too.

good video i have 3 log grapples they can help a lot. lowes sells a ant , termite and bee spary that works in a blue bottle called bio something also helps with pine beetles. take care, be safe and well.

Thanks for another good update. I'm curious for the orientation of the mill cover, but could the solar panels go up there to save space on the ground? I only ask because I am looking at panels myself for my shop here in middle NC

I thought about that as I was planning to build the structure in the beginning. But then the thought occurred to me that you have to change angles from winter to summer, and I would either have to climb up on the roof and manually do that or have something rigged up that would go through the roof, which I didn’t want to do to operate it. So I thought the best thing to do would be to put it on the ground where I could manually do it there and just kind of keep that area clear of debris.

I don't know if you've heard this; but it is good to have a hornets nest near your house, it will keep the wasp and yellow jackets away... If you don't bother a hornets nest, they won't bother you...

It is certainly helping on the front porch of the cabin. I wished I had several more of them.

If one only has a rope to pull the log with, wrapped it around the log then four or five over lapps. No knots just wrapped around about five times and this will pull the log with a rope.
