In 2022, the underground metro system MTR in Hong Kong opened new section of its East Rail Line which it now connects Hong Kong Island all the way to Shenzhen of mainland China.
East Rail Line was the railway which people relied on when they wanted to go to China. Its terminal was first located in Tsim Sha Tsui which is where the clock tower is now. Then they moved to Hung Hom, and now Admiralty in Hong Kong Island. It is estimated that it only takes 45minutes from Admiralty to Lo Wu, saving around 15minutes. This launch has made Admiralty station become a mega station which interconnect 4 lines (Island Line, South Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line & East Rail Line).
Besides this new launch, MTR Company also opened a new station, Exhibition Centre Station, and there is a bomb in the station! It is because when they were building the station, two bombs from WWII were discovered from the construction site which the police evacuated over 5000 people around the area! The casing of the bomb is now on display in the station and became a photo spot! Check out our latest vlog about this historical change of the MTR!
