To be honest, if it weren't for Star Wars making him a legend, Harrison Ford is just an “ok” actor. His best acting job was probably Mosquito Coast, otherwise he just looks and sounds bored for most of his movies.

Rouge one had a few problems, but it was actually pretty good, and the subversion of expectations was done well. I thought they were all gonna survive, but they actually died, and that’s a good thing of sorts because they showed how many lives were given to save the rebellion and stop the empire and their Death Star.

@@Eternaldarkness3166 I need good, entertaining movies. Rogue One fit that bill perfectly. Solo was an alright film that added nothing to the franchise and, if anything, weakens Han's character arc by making him a good guy all along. The film would have been much better if he screwed over the Rebels, or at least only helped them by accident, reinforcing that he really was chaotic neutral or (outright bad) who only cared about himself before Luke and Leia convinced him to join the good guys.

~this movie should have been about han, lando and chewie being smugglers tearing across the galaxy encountering jabba the hutt and various bounty hunters along the way, getting into scrapes with the empire and for some reason han is always looking the other way when something/anything force related happens . . . "kid i've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, seen a lot of strange stuff but i've never seen anything to make me believe there's one all powerful force controlling everything . . . it's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense"

Yeh anything post ROTJ, Red Letter Media said it best about this franchise, they are trying to make backdrop into a feature, all of this is is backdrop, Han Solo's backstory was unimportant, he was a smuggler there to give Luke and Ben a lift to where they wanted to go and on the way they develop a bond and that's about it, we never needed to see why his name was Solo or where he came from as he was actually only a supporting character in the first film, as was Bobba Fett in the second but thanks to nerds obsessing about wanting to know every little detail of the world now you have all these films delving into the window dressing of the first film and that's why it's hollow cos it has no substance the substance was the story of Luke, once you take Luke out there's really nothing to be telling a story about. It was a month later and getting movie slots is not as easy as it may seem. On top of that Star Wars is not some b-rated franchise. Simple explanation there is too many Star Wars movies and this one was simply not required nor spectacular enough to be succesful. It was okay, fun movie, but not really deep in any way to make it a must watch.

I actually liked the movie a lot. It was way better than I was told it would be before going into the theatre. I even thought that the scene where Han got his name was kinda clever. At least 10x better than TLJ.

The one part of this movie that really stuck with me was her choice at the end. It genuinely surprised me, but it felt very real. It made me sad that she would choose, effectively, power over love and trust, but it was a good sad, a real sad.

I think Alden did a great job of playing Han. It's very hard having to play a character already portrayed by somebody as good as Harrison Ford but he manages to do it in a way where you still believe it's Han Solo but not somebody just copying Harrison Ford. Really underrated performance and movie in general.

I really thought he captured Han's character with an added bit of hopefulness as he isn't the cynic we know and love yet and I felt like with the ending they were building to that. Another aspect of Han that I think he nailed was his dry humor and general cockiness.

Keep in mind that Ben wasn't even Obi-Wan's real name, either. Ben was just another made up name he invented while in hiding, which means Ben Solo is double made-up. And yeah, Han hated the guy and Leia never met Obi-Wan Kenobi. There is nothing that makes sense about the name Ben Solo.

I don't think he hated him. But they did indeed have very different views on a lot of things, like the force. But Han did come around on quite a few of those things, like the force, or fighting against the Empire. But yeah, not really the first name that should spring to mind when naming your child maybe.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed Solo. I didn't go see it in theaters because everyone was panning it but when I caught it on Netflix I thought it was fun. It's nice to see a movie in the Star Wars universe where the fate of the entire universe isn't on the line. And it was just fun. We saw Han on his journey to Harrison Ford-ness. And I'm assuming he kept the Solo name and passed it on because he simply accepted that it was the only name he had.

First time I really chuckled at the title name because it was so good!

I actually saw this movie in the Theater, and I wound up loving it. Is it a masterpiece, not really, but I thought it was a fun Saturday Matinee kind of Sci-Fi Action movie (you know, what the "Star Wars" movies were paying homage to). So I don't know what kind of movie people are expecting from this franchise nowadays. Also I forgot this was coming out on Blu-Ray today.

I really enjoyed this movie but...you know what I'm just gonna rank all of them. Here is my ranking of the SW movies from worst to best: 11, AOTC 10, Force Awakens 9, Phantom Menace 8, Rogue One 7, Spaceballs (in my house it's a real SW movie ok?) 6, Solo 5, Revenge of the Sith 4, The Last Jedi (ok it probably doesn't deserve to be here but I'm tired of seeing everyone throwing tantrums over it so that's why this is so high.) 1, The original trilogy (tie because I change my mind about which is my favorite every time I watch them)

Thandie Newton did make an impact (can’t even remember any of the characters names) but sadly died so soon. But then what annoyed me was her death had 0 impact, I wanted Woody to be all “her death meant nothing!” Yelling at Han, but they completely didn’t mention her after the fight. Then also, Woody’s character told Han “I got by this long by not trusting anyone” again, didn’t he trust his wife?? I understand it was foreshadowing but it completely went against his character.

Her death had a huge impact. The change you notice with him going "against his character" is because he changes after her death. He becomes more jaded and more sad. He lost the only hope he really had to be happy and so for the rest of the film he just tries to convince Han that love or trust won't get him anywhere because he thought it would work out for himself and it didn't.

'Depending on which part of the internet you like to scream at.' Classic line.

While watching the movie I couldn't wait till I see this video. As I finished came and watched it... Liked it very much... Keep the great work...

When I watched the movie me and my friends had immediately assumed that the scene of L337 talking to Qi’Ra about its “relationship” with Lando were the delusions of a clearly-shown-to-not-be-all-there droid miscalculating Lando’s intentions. I laughed because it was funny. Apparently (and unsurprisingly) everyone I’ve talked to on the internet disagrees. Oh well.

I had interpreted that line more as “she’s THOUGHT about this”. Like, Qi’ra was addressing the biggest hole (*imature snickering intensifies*) in the logic of what L3 was insinuating, and its immediately calcated response was “it works. No, don’t think about it, just trust me. I’ve thought this through.”

I thought the same thing. Literally all the other characters roll their eyes at L3, so it's clear she's not really meant to be taken seriously.

I love solo!!

I enjoyed Solo a lot. Also, I appreciate the acknowledgement that Stormtroopers are not the normal rank-and-file troops.

Say "There is no Epic Movie Voice Guy, only Zuul."

It's too bad because I didn't need a Solo movie (was content for his story to begin uncerimoniously in a bar) but I really would have liked an OB1 movie detailing his time on Tatooine looking after Luke, or a Boba Fett movie done like Dredd where he never takes his helmet off or indulges in a back story, just a day in the life of being the galaxy's most badass bounty hunter.

Given Boba also has the WORST luck, that sounds pretty interesting.

Finally saw Solo on DVD. I loved it. Woody Harrelson brilliant as Bennett. Solo, Much better than I expected - better than Last Jedi !!! If hadn't been released in such a hurry, then could have been a Hit !!!

For me, best lines in this one is "Beckkett who acts a lot like Woody Harrelson, If he got trapped in a SW movie" & "Cowboy Beflop"

@@bensonhatch5423 Technically, Chewbacca is established to be, like, two hundred or something. So he's older than either Anakin or Palpatine (NOT older than Yoda though).

Me and my dad bond over every Star Wars movie, and this one was no exception. One of our favorite characters was Han, so we were glad to see a movie about him.

Honest trailer for King Kong (2005)? Maybe..? ... Please?

finally watched Solo on netflix so I can finally watch this honest trailer.

Giant space creature lives for what I assume is thousands of years next to a swirling vortex of death but decides to risk it all to eat the Millennium Falcon. Let me just jump in front of this bus to eat this metal Dorito. WORTH I... aww it got away.

He just wants to fly to different worlds, to try get some strange, from any “sorta female” alien/robot/sentient-slime/bug-lady/fish-man/space-octopus/WompRat/Bantha/Sand-Person/Moleman/PigMan/WormHead he can. At least that’s the only reason I could think, why someone would have such a drive to become a pilot in the SW universe.

I really liked solo. And Harrison Ford said Alden nailed it. It was written by the writer of empire strikes back - it captures the mood of the original trilogy and the last hour is stunning. I wish it would get a sequel.

In my opinion there was a better candidate for the role. Anthony Ingruber would have been a good choice, he also has already experience by playing a younger version of Harrison Ford character hehe. He played a young version of Harrison Ford in Age of Adaline :). Ingruber made an awesome Han Solo impression.

This is like the most fun Star Wars movie to watch in any mood

Like most things negative Star Wars, the dice and the fuel, with the heavy focus on both in Solo, can be blamed on Rian Johnson making an emphasis of them in LJ. Never had the dice been emphasized, nor had there been fuel discussed in the entire Star Wars film universe. Johnson makes a movie where they're both integral parts of the plot, and Solo is written to legitimize Johnson's random inclusions. The dice were gone from Star Wars after their first appearance, before leia even shows up. She never sees them. Why she would associate them with Han is beyond me. Also, they should have made the Samus Aran pirate girl the daughter of Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton who, disgusted at her parents greed and imbalance at working with Empire connected gangsters, set out to join the fledgling rebellion.

Wait what?? That doesn't make any sense. Solo was made DURING TLJ, not after it. How would they make an entire movie based on another movie that's still in development? That's absurd.

Not really. They were working on LJ first. It's owned and produced by one company. They did TONS of rewrites on Solo during the shoot and especially after. There's no reason to assume they didn't purposely write the plots to reflect one another and give legitimacy to whichever comes out first.

Really? I think the generally consensus is not that it's terrible, just that it's bland, which it is. I think the most underrated Star Wars movie is Rogue One.

@@likethemovies8991 Everyone says Rogue One is amazing and Solo was okay. So it doesn't make sense to say Rogue One is underated. Solo is underated because it flopped at the box office despite being a much better movie than the sequels which didn't flop.

I fairly enjoyed the movie. It was good lighthearted fun, we got to see Maul, and there weren't too many factors that would severely piss fans off.

Plus, Lando Calrissian. That has to be good for something (which it is IMO).

Sadly, I fell asleep the first two times I saw this movie. The first time was even at the movies. The deleted scenes were actually the best part of the movie.

Thank god someone mentioned how dark and drab some of these planets/backgrounds look, it's pretty bad.

It was seriously baffling how in the opening scene Han damages the crime boss by exposing him (her?) to sunlight but when they go outside minutes later it's all cloudy and dark out there.

I really liked this movie! Maybe instead of a sequel, I'd have liked to see them set some things up for a payoff in Episode 9 Oh well, instead we ended up with a good but wholely skipable side movie and a terrible Episode 9

The gap in the front of the Falcon at least at the end are in fact concussion missile launchers. So... Great place to put a huge life boat?

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the lighting was so dark throughout.
