    Well the reason they couldn't dream anything like a tank was because they needed the guy (who's dream they were infiltrating) to accept the events realistically. So if they were to say dream up a giant robot then the guy would think it's a dream and wake up, they needed him in a constant state of realism.....as much as they possibly could anyway. Btw that's the movie's explanation not mine

  • @TheLastLaugh577

    @TheLastLaugh577

    8 жыл бұрын

    Simon Yip It's really not a rip-off. The Matrix isn't a dream world. It's a simulated reality that people are plugged in to. Nobody is dreaming the Matrix. Inception has people going into other people's dreams. And planting ideas there. Literally the only way in which Inception and The Matrix are comparable is that they take place in worlds which aren't, strictly speaking, 'real.' By the same logic, Alice In Wonderland is a rip off of The Matrix.

The grandma Hates Cobb she wont even let the kids talk to him for more than a minute what makes the viewer think she will let them out of the country to visit whom she thinks is responsible for the death of her daughter.

As Cobb states in the movie, dreams feal real while you are in them, only when you wake up, you realize that something was actually strange. He is in a dream, so he doesn't realize that it's strange his kids can't simply visit him in Paris. If he woke up, he would realize that.

  • @criztu

    Inception is a huge metaphor. The "kids" are Cobb and his wife, being young again (more exactly, the feminine energy and the masculine energy). The Japanese guy is an all powerful being, trapped in solitude, without his beloved woman by his side (the feminine and masculine energies are separated, life stops). The older Japanese guy wants to reconnect with younger Cobb, and younger Cobb wants to reconnect with his kids (the masculine energy is seeking the feminine energy, as the masculine is the active element, and the feminine is the passive element, extremely simply put) You could say that this is an old man's dream in the last second of his life. Or a desire, an impulse, of the man at the end of a love affair. The cycle of life/love has been completed, and the dying one wants to be reborn, start a new life / romantic relationship. You'll understand when you'll get closer to your old days, contemplate suicide, or when you'll get closer to parting ways with someone you once loved deeply, but for whom you don't feel the same flame anymore, or when your lover leaves you, because he/she doesn't feel love for you anymore, or simply both reached the end of your once fiery love for each other. This honest trailer is funny, but takes Inception at face value (otherwise there wouldn't be anything left to make fun of). It's like watching Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel famous God creating Adam fresco, and making fun of Adam's tiny dick, while completely missing that God is the human brain.

    Tom Chambers I don't care how many people say that; doesn't make it so. Nolan's movies are all riddled with flaws and plot-holes that the audience doesn't notice because he distracts them with mountains of exposition and scenes that race by before you can really think about what you're watching. This creates the illusion that you're seeing a "smart" movie when in reality it's no deeper than the typical summer blockbuster. Even his Batman movies, which are among my favourites, aren't nearly as good as they're made out to be.

  • @thedude7614

    Barry Gormley trust me Nolan is not your typical director who just churns out money making blockbusters. The only reason there are 'mountains of explosions', is because he is under pressure from fat cat executives to make a film that will attract all audiences. And they aren't 'riddled' with flaws either. I'm not saying his films are perfect but he has produces some of the finest pieces of original cinema i have ever seen.

    What most people don't get is this movie is not about a matrix type mindfucking story. This movie is an artistic sketch of the process of movie making: - Leonardo DiCaprio is the director (who direct the scenes, and putting his own idea into the movie); - Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the producer (who organize the crew); - Ellen Page is the scriptwriter (who lay down the background of the story); - Tom Hardy is the makeup artist (who transform everyone into their character); - Ken Watanabe is the investor (who pays money to make the movie with their own motives); - Dileep Rao is the technical personal (who set up all the technical stuff); - Cillian Murphy is the audience; a movie is a like a dream, it takes the audiences to a fake journey and put idea/inspiration/excitement into their head at the end. The movie Inception is complex not because its plot, but because the thoughts go behind it. It is like people will have a hard time to appreciate the artwork of Manet or Jackson Pollock if don't understand the thoughts behind those works.

    Pretty amazing how anyone who dares criticise the film is always met with "you just didn't _get_ it, you're stupid!!1", while there is nothing to "get". The plot isn't deep, nor is it difficult to follow or understand. Inception is basically Paprika mixed with a heist film. Not to say that it's a _bad_ film, I actually found it pretty entertaining to watch and technically very well executed. The only really jarring thing to me was the very last shot of the film, looking at the spinning top, where the film seems to imply doubt whether it will stop spinning, which doesn't make any sense.

    The ending was left for the viewer to interpret themselves. I saw the top wobbling and a wobbling top cant wobble forever. So it cant be a dream. However other people question why there was a cut to black before it is shown what happens to the top, and i think that was just to leave you mindfucked You see, some people think the end was a dream. That cobb was in limbo when he met his children and dad. Wrong, because you see 1) there was the wobbly top and 2) wether or not he and saito die in limbo or not, they will wake up eventually when the effects of the sedative they took on the plane wore off. It maybe 10 hrs inflight but 100 years in limbo. They would eventually wake up. Thats why i think the end was real and the director made the cut to black to let u think about the stuff i said above.

    krelshell4 The thing is, IIRC there's no possible doubt in the ending because the top was clearly explained to be originally Mal's totem, not Cobb's. Why would it work for him? I remember Cobb saying to never show your totem to anyone, so he didn't. I personally interpreted his kids faces to be Cobb's actual totem, in which case the ending is clearly reality. I guess Cobb just kept the top around as a memento to his mistake of letting Mal believe she's always stuck in a dream, and his inability to let her go. This is why I thought it didn't make sense for the film to create doubt around whether the totem will fall (other than just to mindfuck people), because it doesn't matter. The top doesn't work properly for Cobb anyway. In the end he leaves it behind because he has finally gotten over his regrets. Maybe I'm going a bit too deep here (badumtish); if you do take the top to be Cobb's real totem I think the ending still doesn't revolve around whether or not it is reality, Cobb clearly chooses for his kids whatever it might be.

    just like when the matrix was new and in... all my mates would go philosophical about a movie who's only complexity is that it doesn't make a point except for in a few moments that are: machines control the humans - neo has to save them - by killing smith - end. It's actually funny how easy you can trick people into thinking there's actually something complex behind it.

    I was actually just trolling in my original comment because i think it's so smug how they tried to write-off the dark knight rises with that joke. dark knight *is* probably better and i was such a huge fan when it came out, but now it gets so over-hyped by people which is annoying. there are just as many stupid things in TDK as in TDKR, but honest trailers seems way too biased towards TDK and trashes Rises way too much.

    I'll never get why people thought that movie was so mind-blowing. It's a fairly basic sci-fi twist on a heist movie with 1-2 characters literally completely dedicated to explaining every nuance of the premise over and over and over. It's genuinely not complicated, and the two sentences required to describe the dream stuff is explained ad nauseum. It's not complicated narratively, and it's not complicated in world-building. It's a one-note sci-fi concept that is explained to death throughout. The sound design is amazing, though.

    ***** Really? I got Inception the first go around. I personally don't understand what was so confusing about it. Memento on the other hand, I feel like you need to watch at least twice. I understood what happened in the end (the beginning) and how it relates to the beginning (the end). But everything in the middle was a mess. It was backwards, then the black and white is shown chronologically which would show up in the middle of the backward storytelling. And on top of all that, I had no idea where this story was heading.
