One of the most touching moments I've had in a theater, and that very simple 'for harold' was the pinnacle. He was so sad and happy to see his old friends one last time, so very proud of Phoebe, and nervous to see Callie but relieved and happy when he knew she finally understood. But more than all of that, I dont care that most of the movie referenced the first! It not only neatly tied off the plot of the original, it made the most touching and heartfelt tribute For Harold! I’ve got nothing but respect for a movie that has entertained people and that will only steep deliciously over time. I have to believe Harold Ramis would be fine with this. They did not make him do anything outside of what his character might do, especially with time and experience and the desire to make the world safe for his daughter and granddaughter. Sacrifice, what a lovely note in the Ghostbusters continuity. McKenna, she’s a literal gem. It was a bit of a soft reboot, but the underlying themes are legit. I am satisfied.

There's a difference between "Fan service" and keeping things Canon. Certainly, they played up some fan service, but much was keeping to the universe it's in. I'd say it was fairly well layered fan service, seen MUCH worse in other franchises.

I… hadn’t heard about Ivan Reitman. That was a legit record scratch moment. I’m glad y’all made me chuckle because that was a gut punch. Also, gotta say… I love Sigourney Weaver but the way the lady said, “There is no mom, only Zuul,” was actually legitimately terrifying. Honestly, that’s a compliment to Sigourney Weaver since she made it creepy but still slightly comical, whereas the new movie on the whole is a tad more serious than I’d like. I enjoyed it, though.

I don't care that it was pre-packaged nostalgia, it did a great job of honouring the past while setting up the future, which is what it was meant to do. And the problem with 2016 wasn't their gender, it was that it had literally none of the elements that made the original movies great: the dry, sardonic comedy played straight, the elements of genuine horror/fright, zero ties to the original movies/stories, wasted cameos where they don't even play their characters (and were forced to be there), etc. I really wish people would stop perpetuating the idea that the hate for 2016 is purely gender based. Afterlife was great and McKenna Grace was one of the best parts of it.

It would probably help if there weren't people who actually were pushing that Answer the Call was going to fail because having a all female team was "woke". We had conservative writers like Milo basically leading a charge to harass the staff of the film. The film wasn't bad it just needed a different director. People weren't expecting Bridesmaids like comedy in Ghostbusters.

@@letmadora28 Agreed. It was loud, obnoxious, and just a lazy, shot-gun approach with low-rung humour that just got on my nerves. But nah, it must just be because I’m sexist, apparently. Except I put my sexism on hold for movies like Aliens or Terminator, or Serenity where my favourite lead characters are female. I’m only sexist when it concerns that ONE movie… 🤦🏼‍♂️

I really like the 2016 movie. In the UK, Channel 4 showed a different version on TV that made the plot a lot better and I have now realised this is the Blu-Ray version. I hate the fact people want to forget this happened -- at least the ladies are in the comicbook Universe.
