True, battles can be short or last a long time, but either way soldiers aren't supposed to be battling for more than a few hours at a time. Also it isn't economical to give full armor (extra weight and need for more battery life) to every foot soldier. Realistically they should have spent a little more resources in training and equipping for more aerial assault strikes since the area is overrun with aliens anyway.

For anyone confused on why the reset happened earlier at the end, it’s because of WHEN Cage got the power. The first time, he got the power on the day of the battle. The second time, after they defeated the Omega, he got the power 12 hours earlier before the battle is suppose to take place. The power reset 24 hours, so placing it in those two timeline, you can see how Cage ended up back at the helicopter at the end.

I'd just like to point out that Tom Cruise is 21 years older than Emily Blunt. They look like they could be the same age. Anyway, this is one of my all time favorite movies. Great concept, great execution, great performances. And awesome visual effects. Whoever designed the Mimics, I hope they got a raise, because they look incredible.

Love this movie. It's not perfect, but it's really good, and it had the potential to be even better with a bit of tuning. Liman is a great director, and if there hadn't been so many snafus in the production, this thing would've soared. Probably a movie that I've rewatched the most.

I CANNOT WAIT for them to make the sequel, which would actually be the prequel, in that it would be everything leading up to where Toms character enters the story, ie, who the aliens are, how they came to Earth and Emilies rise to her status via the way she got her 'Time loop power'... I HOPE THEY MAKE IT! 🤞🤞🤞 😎🇬🇧

The ending is explained by the nature of the alien power. The Alpha resets 24 hours on death creating the loop when Tom Cruise fought it the first time this set the loop for 24 hours prior to that moment. When Tom Cruise gets the blood transfusion and loses the alien power the loop was broken but he still had not reached that point in time. When Tom Cruise and his team kill the big brain thing it is still the day before the original attack on the beach. He is exposed to the alien blood and loops back 24 hours to the day preceding his arrival in the camp although the exact amount of time he loops back this time may be greater due to the blood being from the giant brain rather than an Alpha.
